Chapter 26

I woke up with my arms around Don's neck and his face nuzzled in my hair. I smiled, stroking his cheek with my thumb. He slowly opened his eyes, "Mornin'"

"Hi." I whispered, pecking his cheek. I groaned when I heard the phone ring, "Could it be any louder?" I whined. Don laughed, "You're probably hungover Mrs Jack Daniels."

I flicked his arm with my fingers as I got out of the bed to answer the very very loud phone, grabbing the tylenol on my way out. I popped some pills as I picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Babe?"

"Glenn? What the hell?" I perched myself on the counter.
"Listen babe please!" Glenn pleaded. I sighed, "Not now Frey." I really didn't want to talk to him then, I wasn't sure if I ever wanted to talk to him. "This isn't a good time right now, I need a break."

I could hear him starting to cry on the other end, "Seraphina, I love you. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

I held back my tears, replying hoarsely. "I'll talk to you later Glenn." There was a tap on my shoulder, Don was behind me. He pointed at the phone, I handed it to him, and quickly left the room. I could hear him talking to Glenn, this time he was yelling.

"Glenn the fuck did I tell you?"

-"Not yet! Just wait!"

-"No! We're not together, c'mon don't be stupid."

-"Yeah, I'll let you know. Take care buddy, bye." Once I heard him say bye I quickly took off my clothes and jumped in the shower.

I smelled french toast as I walked out of the bathroom, "Well someone sure as hell learned how to cook."

Don blushed, "Well I've learned a lot since your lessons." He handed me the plate and I slowly started to eat, I wasn't hungry but thought I should eat for Don. He was the one staying here, being my babysitter for fuck sake. The rest of the day was spent with me drinking and Don trying to cheer me up, he didn't know I was drinking though I slipped some in my drinks when he wasn't looking. We kept living like this for the rest of the week, I'd drink, he'd write, he'd feed me, he'd comfort me when I cry, and we'd share the bed at night. It was nice just having someone there, didn't matter if we were just friends.

A week later there was a knock on my door, "I'll get it." Don said. I yawned, pulling the blanket up to my chin as Don slipped out from under it. We had been laying on the couch, I had just finished one of my legendary breakdowns.

Stevie entered the room, "You gonna talk to Glenn soon?" My eyes shot open, "The fuck are you doing here?"

"Nice to see you too Sara." Stevie stuck her tongue out, sitting next to me on the couch. I glared at her, she put her hands up in defense. "I'm just here to say you should really think about seeing Glenn soon, you need to listen to him. I see you two together and you make each other so happy, just think about it okay?"

I nodded, "I know Steph." Stevie stood up, bending down to kiss my head. "Watch yourself okay? I wish I could stay longer but the band really wants me down at the studio asap." I smiled, "Its okay Stevie, good luck!" She gave Don a hug before walking out the door, shutting it behind her.

"Do you ever miss her?" I asked Don as he walked back over to join me on the couch. "Yeah, I do. I miss her a lot." I scooted over on the couch to give him room, "Maybe you guys should try it again or at least talk to her." Don wrapped his arm around me, "Not now, there's too much going on." I nodded, maybe Stevie was right after all. I had to give him a chance soon before it was too late, but when was too late? I sighed, nuzzling into the crook of Don's neck and slowly drifting off back to sleep.

Three more weeks passed the next person knocking on my door was Randy, he slowly walked into the living room with a hand behind his back. "Here Sara." He handed me a bunch of purple roses, I flashed him a giant smile. "Oh Randy! Thank you!!"
Randy sratched the back of his neck, "I know roses are your favorite but red ones would be too romantic." I smiled at how particular he was with things like that, he loved his wife no matter what. Don quickly scurried off into the kitchen to put the flowers in a vase.

"I could have done that!" I called after him. "I don't mind!" He replied. I shrugged, turning my attention to Randy. "What brings you here?" I asked. He sat next to me on the couch, "I wanted to see how you were doing." I sighed, "Been better."

Randy nodded, putting his feet up on the coffee table. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." I stood up to turn on the tv, "I know Randy." I flicked the knob on the tv until I stopped on Scooby Doo.

"My kids are probably watching this now." Randy laughed. I sat back down next to him, "There's nothing else on its Saturday morning." There was suddenly the sound of someone hitting the wrong keys on a piano. Randy turned around. "What's that?" I brushed it off, "Don has just been writing a lot. I guess he has nothing else to do here, I keep telling him to go home."

"I'm sure he's worried about you Sara, that's why he's here." Randy explained. I nodded, "Yeah but why are you here? Your kids are in damn Nebraska Randy and you decide to come up here just to watch Scooby Doo?"

He shook his head, "I came because one of my closet friends is going through a tough time."

I let out a long sigh, leaning on his shoulder. The flannel against my cheek was a comforting feeling, "Teach Glenn your ways." I whispered, inhaling the smell of coffee off his shirt.
