Part 13

Hi everyone.

So, three months with zero updates or anything of that sort... big whoops on my part. This first half of this update message is just going to be rambling on about where I was and whatnot, so if you don't care for that sort of stuff, just skip the first couple of paragraphs for the updates/information.

So, why did it take me two months to update, exactly? Well, in truth, I kind of wanted to abandon Wattpad. I got this overwhelming feeling of being incredibly bored with the Paw Patrol fandom and wanted to do stuff in other fandoms. I even kind of binge-read multiple several hundred thousand fanfictions without actually working... double whoops.

And to add on the increasing number of school work coming up to break, I basically did not feel like writing whatsoever. Well, I did, just not Paw Patrol. But, I'm back now, mostly because 1. I haven't completed these stories and there is no way I'm leaving until I do, and 2. I really wanted to continue writing these again, (especially Call of the Hound.)

Alright, enough with the rambling, onto the important updates. Starting with the upload schedule, I plan on releasing a new part to every one of my fanfictions before I upload another part. So, here are the stories, in order, that will be updated:

Call of the Hound, (duh, that's how you are reading this.)

Off Duty.

Won't Forget You.

Divergent Paths.

And then a trailer in the trailer collection.

So, that's the plan so far. No dates confirmed, but I promise I will finish what I started. And for those of you wondering, I do have plans to continue making Paw Patrol fanfictions even after I finish all of my current ones, but I don't really know if I want to do them yet. I'll let you know when I do decide, but until then, enjoy, and happy new year!

Everest considered her options heavily. All of them seemed like they were doomed, but if the choice was making a desperate plan to escape from the hound or layover and face a painful, brutal death, Everest would call anyone a fool for choosing the latter.

Sneaking past the hound was a no-go. Not only was the hound coming directly towards them right now, but there was no way the creature would not pick up their scent leaving the room. Of course, their scent was still in the room anyway due to them sleeping there, but she hoped that the creature was stupid enough to not realize so.

Ambushing also was not an option. Despite being trapped in a corner, (literally, in this case,) Everest and Marshall were in no condition to fight and would certainly be overpowered by the hound. As such, the only option they had was to hide.

"We have to hide. Maybe it won't check here."

"Well, okay, how are we supposed to hide then?"

Everest quickly glanced around and realized that the room they were in was very empty with absolutely no hiding spots... except for one.

"Our only choice is to hide under the table," Everest replied.

"Are you kidding?! We're going to be trapped and slaughtered like sheep!"

"Sssh! Quiet down and hurry up! We don't have much time."

Gulping, Marshall nodded and quietly prayed to whatever god would hear his prayers as he and Everest curled up under the table. It was all quiet for about a minute, but soon the heavy and familiar footsteps of the hound came closer. Eventually, a large figure bolted into the room, growling and glancing around the room trying to find its prey.

Marshall and Everest held their breath and tried to calm their fast-beating hearts as the creature continued to scan the room, picking up on their scent.

It knew they were here.

Marshall almost squeaked in fear when the hound turned around quickly glancing at the table. It seemed as if it didn't see them, but it was approaching closer slowly.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

The deafening sounds of the creature's footsteps were almost enough for Marshall and Everest to scream and cower, but they knew that even if it was the smallest of chances, that they stood a better chance of staying hidden. However, they seemed to be doomed when the creature was right about to be next to the table...

But, suddenly, the hound turned to the door for a few seconds, before quickly running out of the room in a seemingly hurry. Marshall and Everest were no fools and waited a while for it to be clear, however, no sounds were heard in the several minutes they stayed hidden.

All quiet...

"I think we're good," Everest sighed, stepping out of hiding and taking a breather from the stressful moment. "I-I c-can't believe that worked... I mean, we almost died, and-."

Everest was quickly interrupted when Marshall threw his muzzle on top of hers. Taken by surprise at first, she quickly soaked into the sudden kiss. When their mouths parted, they both stared at each other for a few seconds before Marshall shook his head and spoke up.

"Uh, sorry. You know, it's just that the adrenaline shook up my emotions, and I had this feeling I couldn't get rid of it unless-."

Marshall's rant was interrupted by the quiet yet noticeable giggling of Everest, causing Marshall to stare at the mountain pup in confusion.

"What's funny?"

"Nothing, you silly pup," Everest replied, shaking her head. "We should get out of here. If it comes back here, we're trapped and we probably won't be as lucky."

"Oh, right, great idea," Marshall said, nodding his head. And whilst the two were leaving the room, Marshall celebrated quietly to himself that he didn't embarrass himself too much.

"Any luck of finding anything?" Raven's radio chimed with Jeffrey's voice, a reminder that he wasn't alone in the cruel yet quiet quest of finding the possible survivors. And while there were two men walking beside him, he barely knew them by name, and the only time they discussed was a possible set of footprints that Raven dismissed as not belonging to the hound due to their small size. Although, he did not recognize the set of footprints as belonging to any wolf pack he remembered living in the mountains. Strange.

"Negative. All quiet here. What about you, James?" Kevin's voice rang through the radio.

"All we found so far was a set of paw-prints, but they didn't belong to the creature."

"How do you know that?" Kevin questioned. Raven paused for a second before responding.

"I remember what its feet looked like."

"Why in the world would you remember its feet of all things?"

"I remember everything about it. I studied everything I could about it and I see it in my dreams. And I know they don't belong to it."

"Okay, whatever you say then."

Shaking his head, Raven continued walking down the path, not uttering a single word back to Kevin. However, the other two men next to him were growing rather bored and curious.

"So, you encountered this 'hound' thing?" The one on the left asked Raven, who gave a quick glance to him before staring back at the path.

"Encountered is just sugar-coating it... I fought that thing... well, not really fought, since it could have easily killed me."

"Then why didn't it?"

"...Someone threw themselves in front of me before the creature was able to land their paw on me mid-swing. Considering the fact the blow instantly knocked him out cold and the... thing... devouring him right after, I consider myself lucky every day."

"Well, we should try our best not to encounter that thing, then," the second one piped up, affirming Raven's paranoia. The first one, however, did not seem phased by the story.

"Okay, so if this 'hound' is so deadly, why are we even searching for bodies, let alone possible survivors? It sounds like a lost cause at this point."

"Are you saying you think we should abandon the slight yet still possible chance that some people may have survived its attack?"

"By the way you're describing it to me, how would anyone survive in the first place?"

"Well, I did, even if it was from a sacrifice of another. And there were more people that were way more armed than my patrol was, so it is possible."

"Um, guys, is that blood?"

The words that came out of the third man's mouth caused the other two to stop and glance to where the other was pointing to. And directly in front of them on the path lay a small, dried pool of blood, followed by a bloody trail leading into the woods.

"Oh, shit," the other man mumbled under his breath as Raven ran over to the blood in question. Kneeling down, Raven examined the blood for a while as the other two stared at him. After a few seconds, Raven stood up and turned to the other two.

"It's human, and it's been here for at least a day."

"If there's blood, there's a body somewhere," the person to Raven's left began. "Or at least whatever is left of it, that is... if the blood goes into the woods, then we might find some people or bodies... assuming ya'll even still think it's worth it in the first place."

"What? Hell no! We were just talking about what that thing was capable of, and now you want to tell me you want to walk blindly into the forest and walk into a death trap?! We should continue walking the path and look for other clues on what happened to these people and not follow the trail of the murder-wolf, thank you," the man on the right interjected.

"Well, eventually we need to follow these breadcrumbs if we want to find something. We came here to at least find bodies and you don't even want to do that?"

"Okay, fine, what about you, James? What should we do?"

Raven stared at the two men for a second before glancing at the blood. Of course, he wanted to believe that maybe the owner of the blood was still alive, but it was not likely. However, if they chose to ignore the trail, they may lose some clues or at least a chance to figure out what happened. But if they follow the trail and it happens to lead to nothing, then they will have wasted valuable time.

He has to make a choice soon to not waste daylight. They only had so many hours after all. Should they risk following the trail or continue down the path?

Continue.

Follow the Trail.

Savior is available; Sacrifice is not.

Soul coin available, (1 left).

Using a soul coin this early is a risky choice... then again, you did already lose two members. Maybe, if you are more careful this time, you will not make the same mistake twice.

Voting ends on January 11th. Good luck, and welcome back to the game.
