Hunting the Monster

This is from my literature class, Daisy an Tom are from The Great Gatsby and the Monster is from Frankenstein. This was my final so I thought why not post it.

Tom stalked through the woods with Daisy trailing behind. The couple had decided to follow many others footsteps and hunt the Monster that rumored to prey these woods in upper Canada.

The blonde haired beauty was out of her element, her frail body being scratched by the sharp branches reminding her of the knifes that she used to cook with way back when. The broad brunettes body was strong though, his muscles rippled under his shirt as brown eyes shined at the prospect of even more to add to his fortune, the bounty on the monster head was extremely high.

So, they continued even though the sweat soaked through their clothes and bugs nipped at their sweet skin. It disgusted them both but no complaints left their mouths, leaving only the music of the crickets to fill the humid air.

A crack broke the silence, causing the couple to still, Daisy mid-step and Tom in a crouch. Muscles straining in anticipation at the grunt vibrating through the air, a monster just beyond the thin layer of trees.

Tom looked at Daisy, signaling to go left, hoping to surprise the monster, a smirk falling on his face as Daisy stayed with a stoic expression.

However, what the couple didn't know is that the Monster isn't some dim witted creature that is oblivious to their whereabouts. Quite the opposite, his intelligence knew that most humans run in the face of possibly certain death, leaving him to his lonely peace from their beautifully cruel kind. But, to his surprise, they didn't leave, to the contrary of his beliefs they came closer.

Weapon held high in Toms hand, Daisy cowered behind him, leaving the instruction Tom had given her previously, taking cover from the notoriously horrid creature that stands not one meter away from herself and Tom.

Creeping forward, Daisy started to fall behind, fear overtaking her as they started to reach a distance where the Monster was visible to their eyes.

The ragged, green body was slightly shocked at their proximity. The shaggy black hair stuck to his face with what seemed to be water, black eyes wide as the Monster stared at the tense couple.

Then Daisy shrieked, it was a blood curdling cry that made both the Monster and Tom flinch. But, after a few seconds the noise faded as Daisy's eyes closed and she slumped towards the floor.

Tom stayed staring at the monster, letting his wife lay on the forest floor. The Monster shook his head, "Shouldn't you pick her up?"

Tom froze even more, if that was possible, as the Monster spoke. Shaking his head again the Monster stared at Tom. "Are you going to kill me or runaway screaming? I don't exactly have all day," the Monster stated, starting to get irritated with the disgusted look he was receiving

Tom immediately stood straight up, raising the shotgun in his shaking hands. Aiming at the Monster, well at least tried as his his hands shook. Tom pulled the trigger, missing the Monster by a couple of inches.

The Monster chuckled, looking at Tom. "Leave," the Monster stated turning his back on a shaking Tom and fainted Daisy.

BOOM!

The Monster fell, Tom stood with a smirk and turned to Daisy, "You can get up now."

Daisy's eyes popped open and a grin spread across her face. Tom helped her up and kissed her, both smiling at their success.

"Let's go, love," Daisy cooed, grabbing Tom's hand and turning to leave.
