Moving

After helping Olivia down the stairs, taking them one by one, Elliot had made her a small lunch while she sat at the kitchen island. He sat for a moment and just watched her, while he cleaned up the mess he had made. He let his mind ponder for a moment, curious how they had gotten here. Months ago he had found out possibly the worst news of his life, that the baby his wife had been carrying for the past six months possibly wasn't at all his.To absolutely hating the very thought of her, to this exact moment right now; him caring for her and them both preparing for the new life she would be bringing into this world soon.

"What did you want to talk about?" Olivia asked with a mouth full. He gave her a half smile, and went to sit next to her.

"I didn't bring you down here to argue with you," her body had instantly relaxed, relieved that he wasn't going to be picking any fights with her today. Thing had been going smoothly the past several weeks, and with the baby coming at any moment, she didn't want to see things go downhill.

"I just thought we should take some time to talk about what exactly we plan on doing once the baby is here," he appeared genuinely concerned, and ready to work out a plan.

"I'm not expecting you to stay here and help, Elliot-"

"That's nonsense Olivia. I know you're probably expecting me blow a gasket on you soon, but I'm not," he scrubbed his hand down his face, searching for the words. "I haven't completely forgiven you, but I am close..our baby is coming soon and I will be here everyday and every night- that is if you let me come home," she had sat almost frozen, not sure if she had heard him correctly. His eyebrows raised at her, waiting on her answer.

"O-of course I do Elliot, I just don't want you to feel like you're obligated to be here," she had begun to feel a pang of emotion settle in, becoming teary eyed.

"I think you've forgotten that this little baby girl- or boy," he smiled widely at her. "Is our baby. When I told you months ago at that cafe that I wanted to at least try to work on us, that was a promise. So, listen to me when I say that I want to come home, but I need you to promise me one thing Olivia," he paused for a moment, and she felt her soul cringed at the words she knew were coming.

"No more lies..this isn't us. This is your one fuck up that I'll allow, but anything like this again, and I am done," he had still remained calm with his words. A small part of her felt stung by his words, but she knew that he was right. He was genuinely giving her a second chance, and she would be forever grateful.

"I promise you from now on, nothing but the absolute truth," she reached for his hand that rested on his knee, and he kindly obliged.

Two weeks later..

Things between Elliot and Olivia had continued to gradually improve. His anger towards her subsiding, as he worked on forgiving her entirely. He had always told himself that if his partner ever cheated on him, he would call it quits right away- that is until he met Olivia.

He had only dated a few women before he had met Olivia years ago on a business trip right here in New York. Most women bored him, their only motive seeming to be to get a hold of his earnings. But with Olivia, everything had been different from the moment he had laid moments on her. He felt a deep pull in his chest when he seen her for the very first time, one that wouldn't stop until he made her his. She was different from all of the others, right away he seen that. Olivia wasn't interested in his money, or what he could do for her, it was purely just him that she wanted to know.

For the first few months of their relationship, they had spent it being long distance. They'd spend nearly all night talking on the phone until one of them fell asleep after a long work day. Or flying back and forth to one another, even if they were only able to see each other for a day or two. Only a few months in, and right away Elliot knew that Olivia had been the one for him.

So, here they were nearly five years later, expecting their first child together, as child he wasn't quite sure was his a few months ago. He couldn't see himself just deleting Olivia from his life, not after everything they had been through together throughout the years. David Haden was nothing but a mistake, she had told him that multiple times after she had confessed- and he believed her. She had a moment of weakness, but he knew her heart, and couldn't bare giving up on her.

For now, he would have to rely on his faith, and believe that Olivia was back- that she would be completely honest with him from now on.

"Olivia, it looks like you're almost two whole centimeters dilated. This baby is coming any day now," Olivia was only two weeks away from her expected due date, and had been going to the doctor once a week since last month.

"Is that healthy doc? This baby isn't due for another two weeks," Elliot had asked. He managed to clear his entire morning this afternoon, and come to her appointment.

"Completely! Olivia ia carrying a pretty big baby, and they are ready to come out and meet you two," the blonde haired woman handed Olivia a towel to clear the gel from her stomach. "Just remember that if you have more than 4 contractions in an hour to come right away, you have my personal number. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions, okay?" she smiled widely and collected her clipboard and folders.

"Okay," Olivia gave her a half hearted smile. She knew the baby could come at any moment, but she didn't think about it too seriously. The idea of childbirth terrified her, and she had hoped that this baby would come later rather than sooner.

""Hang in there Olivia, and rest! I'll you all next week," she waved before exiting the exam room.

"You don't look to good Liv. What's wrong?" Elliot noticed how quickly her mood had shifted.

"I'm scared, El," he helped her down from the exam table, and assisted her while she put on her clothes. "I know you keep saying that we're okay, and that you'll be here for everything..but I am terrified of the unknown. I've heard horror stories about childbirth and everything that could go wrong, and I just-"

"You're gonna stress yourself out thinking about everything that could go wrong. You've had a healthy pregnancy this entire time, and I'm here," he pulled her t shirt over her head, and tugged the bottom over her swell. "This is our fresh start," he brushed her bangs out of her face and kissed her forehead. "Now let's go grab some lunch."

"Why do you always think I'm hungry?"

"Well are you?" he smirked at her.

"Yes," she tried saying nonchalantly but a smile broke through.

"Let's get out of here."

Much to her disdain, Olivia hadn't been getting very much sleep lately. That lower pain in her back hadn't given in, and kept her up constantly throughout the night. She had been in an extremely testy mood, her entire squad room avoiding any conversation with her. Everyone had been terrified, not sure what mood she would be in. Eventually, Amanda, of all people, had gotten fed up with her and told her it was probably time for her to go on maternity leave. Olivia knew she was right, and decided that it was time. She felt awful for the way she had treated her squad, and knew the pain she had been in was the cause of it.

Casey had gotten word that Olivia went on maternity leave, and decided to surprise her with a few gifts for the baby after work this afternoon.

"I just seen you a little over a week ago, and now you're huge!" Casey took a seat next to Olivia on the plush leather couch in the living room.

"Well gee thanks Case! And you shouldn't have brought all these gifts, I told you I have everything that I need," she ran both hands over her swell, her falling to the side as she looked down at the movement happening inside of her.

"You're gonna go into labor by the end of this week, I have a feeling," she leaned over and placed an open palm on her bump. "We're all waiting to meet you baby girl."

"Ugh you too?" Olivia scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Look at the way you're carrying Liv. It's gotta be a g-" she paused when she seen Elliot come around the corner.

"Hey Casey, didn't know you were stopping by or I would have gotten you something!" he sat the chocolate milkshake Olivia had requested on the table, and kissed her cheek.

"You're a lifesaver!" she indulged in the sweet treat right away, moaning at the taste she had been craving all day.

"I'm gonna go finish up some work, call me if you need me. It was good seeing you."

"You too, Elliot," Casey waved before he went upstairs to his office. "You didn't tell me Elliot moved back in!"

"I'm sorry Case, we've had a lot going on," she shrugged her shoulders.

"So..you guys are..good?"

"We're getting there slowly. He's the one who suggested he move back in. He said that he's working on forgiving me, and hopes that this baby gives us a fresh start," she smiled lightly.

"Well, I'm proud of you two," she rubbed Olivia's back. "You guys sleeping in the same bed?"

"Casey!"

"What? I deserve to know a few details, I mean, I'm kind of responsible for all of this," Olivia laughed. She was right.

"We're not, but I'm okay with that. I'm not expecting everything to just snap back into place after the baby is here, but I think once we're a complete family we can officially move forward."

"That's great Liv!" she hugged her friend tightly, happy to see they had been working on things.

Olivia never once thought that she would be here, able to tell her closest friend that her and Elliot were working on things. It was only a few months ago that Casey had seen her at her worst, and was trying to help her save her marriage. And now, she was slowly getting her life back to normal. David had finally let it go that his baby wasn't his, and Olivia had been relieved that she didn't have to work with him all that much. She knew that having a baby never solved anything in a relationship, but she had hoped that this baby would at least kickstart a new beginning.

~

Later that night, Olivia had found herself in the same position, not getting any sleep at all. Her back had been aching a lot more than usual this evening, and when she tried to go to bed, she found herself nearly in tears. After almost just an hour of tossing and turning, trying to find a comfortable position for her, she gave up and went down stairs to make a cup of hot tea.

It wasn't until she went to reach for a tea cup in the cabinet, that she realized something wasn't right. A sharp pain a shot through her spine, when she felt a liquid starting to trail down her legs. She cried out when she seen the small puddle on the floor, and knew that her water had broken.

"Elliot!" she yelled throughout the house. It only took one try before she heard his feet hitting the stairs.

"Olivia, is it the baby?" all she could do was nod her head when she felt another pain pulsate throughout her body. "Okay, I'm going to call the doctor and let her know that we're on our way to the hospital," he reached for his phone and helped her up the stairs to change her clothes, and grab the overnight bag they had thankfully packed the week before.

"How are you doing Olivia?" Elliot asked her while he drove through traffic.

"The pains not that bad," she breathed out, her chest moving quickly from trying to catch her breath. "Okay, it's really bad," she leaned over onto the dashboard, her head resting on her arms. "Jesus christ, these back pains must have been labor the entire time!" she cried out.

"We're almost there Liv. You think you can make it another 15 minutes?" she cried out again, another contraction coming through.

"Elliot they're getting closer together. I don't know how much longer until-" she grabbed her stomach, crying as she tried to ride out the pain.

"That was less than-"

"A minute, I know. This baby is coming NOW!" she leaned back, worn out entirely, beads of sweat running down her face. "I need for you to speed it up because I don't know how much longer I can hold on," he glanced over at her, seeing the agony she had been in. His foot pushed further on the accelerator, hoping to get her to the hospital soon.

Because this baby was coming whether they were ready or not.

What do you think, boy or girl? This story is ending soon!
