Wolve's Song

Runt panted  as she swong her sword today was a big day for her and the other Oath Knights. They will be traveling to HighGaurd castle to meet their new charge. Runt was very hopefull she  could earn the release of these fellow sold children. They could not live their own lives until either relieved or given express permission of the oath barer. She has never heard of a royal allowing an Oath Knight such a thing as having a family. Any Oath Knight caught doing so withought such permission is put to death. That makes it harder to earn a release for the others in the long run.

She spun and jabbed at the practice target and with smooth eash flicked her wrist ther is a sharp arck as a light grey wolf jumps forward and snaps her teeth at the tatget. Then a dark grey black and brown male charges from her open left spot. Since they were pups she has trained Silver and Nightfalll to obay her every single command. She had found Nightfall first with his severly wounded mother nursing them to  health the best she knew how to. Nightfall's mother sadly did not survive ut the pup was old enough to not need her milk so Runt raised him.

Sometime later Gragal their master found a welping wolf mother near the arena. Once her young was old enough he charged them with hunding her down.  Runt barly managed to save Silver from death and trained her along Nightfall. She knew very well these two may have pups of their own one day. That made her smile, as the smallest one among the children brought she needed an edge to survive in this place. Nightfall and Silver quickly ecame her edge and her way of survival.  She gave them her portion of rations in return they bring back food from their hunts. No one dared to stand against her andthese two huge well trained beasts or they soon learned their mistake.

Many called her wild and and untame due to her short messy black hair and unusual hazel eyes. Many swear she was part wolf due to her eyes and the way the two obayed her with no question. but she was no more wild then her companions. A growl from her wolves alerted her to her oserver.

"You, know you don't need to train to day right?" Gragal's voice came with an amused sound to it.

"Can't get rusty nowcan I?" Runt says slowly turning her head to him a sharp grin on her face. "You have said time and time again that if I die you would make the others wait until I can be replaced." She says slowly sliding her sword back into it's sheath eyeing him. Silver pressed again st her left and Nightfall to her right both showing their teeth in a silent snarl.

"Well, I am glad you and your easts are going. Nothing but trouble the three of you." Gragal saysnarrowing his eyes at the three foot tall wolves who started to growl at him.

"Ah, you just don't like em cause you almost got your hand bite off." Runt snorts shaking her head ruefully. He deserved it for trying to touch a protective wolf. They saw her as one of them and wolves protect their own.

"be that as it may, your fellow Oath Knights will pick their leader withought you if you are not at the ceremony." Gragal says with a snort tipping his nose up at them and walking away. He was right she needdd to be with the others to cast her vote for the leader or she would have to follow after whoever they choose and copuldnot complian because she had the opertunity to vote but missed it.

With a sharp whistle her two compaions straightend up and the three walked out of the arena leaving the dummy behind for the newbies comming of age to find. Out the gates to the left she could hear the loud shouting and talking of the others. A soft smile graced her face. Sure a few of them had tried to kill her in the past but they were all brothers and sisters in arms now. She scanned the walls and found her helmate and lifted it off the peg took a breath efore opening the door and walking in with the two wolves at her heels.

Upon her arival the room grew quiet as both wolves sat at her sides. She raised an eyebrow at her companions a few had names from the master others hadnames fro  the group so they would no longer be called a numer.

"You finally arrived I see" a big burly woman says grinning at her. One eye lost to the arena long ago but never slowed her down one bit. It seemed she some how became twice as deadly.

"Well Bear, not all of us can just realax and walk=tz over can we?" Runt says dryly making Bear bark out a laugh.

"No I guess not being named what you are it wouldn't do well to seem overly confident." Bear says and slaps a hand on Run'ts shoulder which would have tumbled her if she hadn't braced herself use to the bigger woman's manhandling ways.

"We are just about to vote." A slender male with brownish black hair and green eyes says with a toothy smile. He had to be a giant with how tall he was.

"Ah, so I am not late for the vote Oak?" Runt says grinnign  at the little rhym she made. Oak rolled his eyes with a huff shoving at her shouler.

"Nah, see the board over there with the three boxes and names above?' Oak says pointing "We narrowed it down to those three of us and whoever gets the most coins is the winner." He explains. Shenodded her thanks and went over and grabbed a coin. She didn't bother to read the names because to be honest she just wanted a vote and didn't care who the leader was. She inserted the coin into a random box and left.

She then made her way around the room greeting each of the other sixteen Oath Knights.

"Alright you lot shut up as I just was v=given your Captain's name in this folded paper!" Gragal shouted gaining the attention of the room. All eyes were on him now. "And your captain is...well what a surprise it's Runt." he says with a sneer. Runt froze staring at him unable to believe what she had heard.
