Chapter Four - May 5th 2020

"Kids, let's fast forward to eight months and a bit later. The day was May Five Twenty Twenty... But in between that, we had one big moment where we all got together in March for your Aunt Lily's birthday. Marshall, Lily, Martin and Daisy were doing great, we were good, Barney was good too. We hadn't seen your Aunt Y/N since we met her that day at the bar, though." Ted said to Penny and Luke.
"Dad why are you telling us this? We were alive for it." Penny asked.
"You were too young to remember." Ted answered. "Anyway..."

"Hi Y/N." Ted answered the phone.
"I need you at the hospital! All of you! Ahhh!" You shouted. You were about to have your baby.
"On our way!" Ted said, hanging up the phone. "Tracy!" Ted shouted from the living room to wherever Tracy was in the house.
"Yeah?" She questioned.
"Y/N's in labour! She needs us at the hospital!"

Ted and Tracy drove straight to the hospital. On the way, they picked up Barney, Lily and Marshall. Robin said she was going to fly in and be there a few hours late. She was in The Dominican.
"Barney how do you feel?" Lily asked.
"Confident!" Barney exclaimed.
"Confident?" Marshall questioned.
"I feel confident because I got the doctors to do a blood test to see if I'm the father. I have high hopes I'm not!" Barney replied.
"Barney, having kids is a blessing. You should be happy you get a son or daughter." Lily said, softly.
"Well that's your opinion. To celebrate, I bought cuban cigars for us and I'll take us all to Vegas!"
"Whatever Barney." Lily rolled her eyes.
"What will you do if the test is positive and the kid is yours?" Ted asked. Ted was finding a parking spot in the hospital parking lot.
"The most I'll do is visit for a few hours every Christmas." Barney replied.
"Dude..." Ted muttered. "Alright." Ted said, raising his voice to a normal tone.

Ted finally found a parking spot and you all ran to the waiting room.
"Good luck, Barney." Tracy wished him as he was heading into the delivery room. Barney nodded his head in return.

An hour later, Barney came out in a doctors gown and gloves with a bit of blood on it. He threw out the gloves in the garbage.
"So..." Lily said, anxiously. Everyone was on the edge of they're seat.
"It was a little gross and scary." Barney chuckled. The doctor then came out and walked over to them.
"Congratulations, Mister Stinson-"
"The blood test came back negative and I'm not the father! Happy not a fathers day!" Barney shouted, throwing the cuban cigars in the air. "Whoohoo!"
"No... I was going to say, it's a girl. And your the father." The doctor said. The happy look on Barney's face faded slowly. "Would you like to see her?" The doctor asked.
"Nah, I'm good." Barney said. The doctor gave him a weird look.
"BARNEY!" Everyone shouted at him.
"Fine!" Barney shouted back.

The doctor led Barney into the room where the other babies were in the incubators.
"The one in the far left corner. Her name is Ellie Joy Y/L/N. I'll give you two some space." She said, leaving the room. Barney picked her up, looked at her in the eyes and said quietly,
"You are the love of my life. Everything I have and everything I am is yours..."
"That's so sweet." You said, limping and entering the room.
"Y/N... You heard that? Aren't you supposed to be resting?" Barney asked, sounding worried.
"Yeah, but I feel fine." You said. "Are you saying your hello's and goodbye's?" You asked Barney, getting a closer look at your baby.
"No. Just my hello's."
"What do you mean?" You asked, confused.
"I'm going to help you raise Ellie."
"Really? Are you sure? I know how against kids you are."
"I have a sweet spot for Ellie." Barney smiled down at her.
"That's so good to hear. We might want to change the last name then. "Y/L/N-Stinson"." You said.
"Beautiful." Barney replied.

A few hours later, you all hung out at the hospital room they transferred you to after the delivery. You laid in the bed, holding Ellie in your arms.
"Hi guys!" Robin exclaimed.
"Shh!" Everyone shushed her. Ellie had fallen asleep and everyone was whispering to talk to each other.
"Sorry!" Robin whispered, instantly. "Congratulations! She's beautiful!" She said, looking at Ellie.
"Thank you! You must be Robin?" You asked.
"Yes, I am. Nice to meet you Y/N!"
"You too! So how are you all friends with each other?"
"Well, long story short, Marshall and I met in collage, then we met Lily at the same time. Marshall and Lily started dating. About ten years later we met Barney and around ten years ago we met Robin. And now, your apart of the gang!" Ted explained, warmly.
"That's so nice! You guys do seem super close!" You said, cheerfully.
"We are. Welcome to the gang!" Lily welcomed you.
"Thank you!" You said.
"Hate to end this early, but I think we should get going. Give you and Barney sometime to figure things out." Marshall said.
"We already did. I'm going to help Y/N raise Ellie. Beautiful name you chose, by the way." He said, looking at you.
"Thanks!" You said.

You guys chatted for a little while longer. Slowly, everyone started leaving until it was just you, Barney and Ellie.
"She's beautiful." You said.
"She is. I know where she gets it from." Barney responded, looking at you and Ellie. You chuckled and blushed a bit.
"Thanks."
"Oh! Sorry," Barney chuckled. "I was talking about me." You gave him a little glare. "Kidding!" He said, quickly.
