"Josh! Your late!" Alphas words boomed through the halls and I immediately crawled onto my back and showed my stomach with my tail tucked between you legs showing submission.

"Sorry alpha, Mia here was being difficult so I had to teach her a lesson" Josh grinned down at me and snorted.

"I see" alpha glares down at me, oh no not good now I'm in trouble "now leave before I rake my claws across your face" Alpha snarled and grabbed my leash pulling me into his office and slamming the door behind him.

I kept my stomach low to the ground with my fur brushing the floor and didn't dare to even look remotely in Alphas direction. I stay still keeping completely silent while I just waited for him to hit me or even yell but a few minutes go by and all I hear is the sound of paper rustling and his heavy breathing.
I make the slightest move lifting my head up slowly to see him sorting out paperwork on his desk then I look back down after glancing.

"Sit!" as soon as I hear his command I raise my body from my lowered position into a sitting position ignoring the pain. He must have noticed my small movements..
My ears were pinned back and I kept my head lowered focusing my eyes on the floor Listening intently ready to fulfil his orders.

"Good girl now come here" his stern voice made me jump. I got up and made my way so I sat in front of his legs.

"Shake a paw" I lift my paw and he grabs it squeezing tightly on my swollen and blistered paw. I bite back my whimper and need to pull back until he lets go.

"Sit pretty" I feel my body burn and protest while I raise up my front legs up and sit on my haunches while stretching out my back.
I desperately wait for him to command me down so I could rest my body as I start to feel it give out. I quiver trying my best to keep my posture but after a few minutes I fall to the floor heaping to catch my breath.

"You bitch! I didn't tell you to lay down!" He yells at me and regret immediately sets in as I show my stomach hoping for the best.
A yelp escapes past my mouth as I feel his foot smash into my rib cage. He kicks me a few more times until he throws me across his office and I hit a my head hard on a wall.

"Bad dog! You do as your told! Got it!!" He stalks over to me and grabs my throat lifting me up and spitting in my face. My body fights for air and I start to see black spots cloud my vision until he drops me and I hit my head again on the ground.

"Great now you've got blood all over my office! you stupid mutt!" He growled and gave me a few more kicks in the stomach and a hard kick to my jaw.

"Get her out of my sight" I hear his low voice as I feel a pair of arms pick me up. My body feels as though it's on fire like every part of me is being stabbed.
I heave desperately trying to control my breathing and fighting back black spots hoping to stay conscious.
As soon as my vision clears just slightly I look and realize it's Kai who is carrying me. He's nice, he's the one who gives me food and never hits me I think as my head starts to spin. I have a major headache right now.

"You've gone angered him again.." I couldn't quite make out his words but I was able to catch the sigh that escaped his lips.

I stay limp until I feel the cold air of the basement hit my fur, Kai puts me down  gently in front of my cage and points inside, I stumble in and lay down.
I watch him hang my leash up and grab my dog dish, he puts a small amount of food in it and sets it in my cage along with a water dish filled to the brim. He then locks my cage and leaves.
Once again I'm alone.
I stare at my food, to weak to get up so I close my eyes giving up on fighting to stay conscious feeling as the room spins around me I let darkness take over.

Kayden's POV

I groan out in frustration and put my face into my hands as I then rub them through my dark brown hair.
"Ugh Half Moon Pack why do you have to be such a pain in my ass" I whisper under my breath after I get off the phone with a pack member. They want to set up a meeting most likely for an alliance, I'm ok with an alliance if a pack wants one but they don't understand that I need to speak with them in person so I can get information on them before I can accept.
Finally I was able to set up a meeting after many calls and will be leaving tomorrow to talk with the alpha and beta.

'Jackson we leave tomorrow to speak with alpha Rick and his beta, I need you to be ready with 2 warriors' I mind link my beta who was my best friend.

'Okay I'm on it, and I'll tell Lucas that he's in charge while we're gone'

Lucas was my third in command and also my best friend along with Jackson, that's usually how it goes.
Jackson and Lucas both had their mates, Jackson's mate being my little sister Lilly and Lucas's mate was Charlotte I was happy for them but also jealous, they all found their mates when they turned 18.

I got up and decided I needed to go for a run. I walked down the hall to the stairs and saw my mother coming up them with a sparkle in her eyes.

"Oh Kayden! I was just coming to see you hunny, I know your pretty tense especially with the last few days and thought some good news would cheer you up" she hugged me as she got up to the step above the one I was on. She's a shorty "Guess what, you'll never believe it" she gushed out with a smile.

"Hmm?"

"Im adopting a baby!"

I stared at her with shock, my mother isn't really old, she's 39 but to have another kid?? "Mom your joking right?" I said as I panicked a bit, she's the happy go crazy type so I wouldn't be surprised.

"Haha yup I am" she laughed as she walked back down the stairs waving me off a bit. "Just wanted to get your mind off your strict duties even if only for a quick joke, I know it was tuff for me being the Luna with your father, plus you don't think I'd actually have another child after seeing how insane my first three where do you? I mean three? That's a lot of babies" She glanced up at me and my face went red and I didn't respond.

she smiled and chuckled a bit and walked back down the stairs giggling to herself, I rolled my eyes I have such a random mother.
She probably went back down to cook some breakfast for the pack, she loved to cook.

I sighed in relief, and made my way downstairs, I looked to my left seeing my mom and sister sticking tongues at each other in the kitchen, I shook my head and smiled, she was awesome, always had a fun personality but knew when she needed to be the comforting mother. She's so strong to be living a life as happy as she is after my father died.

I looked away and continued walking until I reached the burgundy door and opened it exiting the pack house and taking in a deep breath of the fresh cold snowy air. I started walking towards the oak trees. I lover running and Zander my wolf obviously does too. We don't go out enough I wish we could go for runs more often but there's always so much work to do.

I walked past the few houses that surrounded the pack house, they where meant for some of the pack members who wanted a bit more privacy.
I shifted into my black wolf with tints of brown and white, and made my way to the tree line before I bolted, I ran at a fast pace and watched the trees wisp by.

I stopped running and came up to the lake to take a few gulps of the cold water making a shiver run down my spine. I gazed upon the clear blue water that was frosting over a bit with a thin layer of ice. I was able to let my mind rest as I relaxed staring out at the open water, it calmed me.

Some rustling distracted my peace and I smelled the stench of rogues, there were at least two of them. Something always disrupts the quiet I can never get a break.

I saw a rustle in the bush before claws reached out towards my face and the rogue warrior leaped out at me.
I was much bigger than it so I swiped at it with my paw easily sending it flying through the snow, it got back up and the fur along its back was raised. It started to stalk closer and that's when I felt the claws of the second wolf rake down my back. I reared back and grabbed the rogue in my teeth and threw him off quickly pinning it to the ground with me teeth still deep in it's neck, I ripped out it's throat and watched the blood seep out of its wound staining the glistening white snow beneath him scarlet.
The other wolf lunged at me and bite my shoulder but I was able grab it between my jaws and roughly flung him off my shoulder snapping his neck in the process.

I looked at the two dead rogues and my mind filled with rage.
'Lucas I need you and 5 warriors at the lake north to check the area, I killed two rogues and need to know how they got across our borders'

'Yes Alpha I'll be right there'

I stared at the body's feeling a deep unsettlement inside me until Lucas showed up and took over, I gave him a slight nod and left to go back to the pack house.

I saw Jackson approach when the pack house was In view.
"I heard what happened are we still going to Half Moon pack tomorrow? Or did you want to stay in case of another attack" He questioned as I got closer.

"Our plans have not changed, I doubt there will be a second attack, especially with how weak that one was and I trust Lucas will protect the pack. But I want you to speak with everyone who was on the morning patrol before it happened, I'm going to check the schedule and see if I can add a few more guards around the border"
Jackson nodded and was off.
