Chapter 20: Cross Your Hart

I woke up feeling the repercussions of the night before. My head was throbbing, and the beams of light shining through my shutters did me no favours, and left me with perhaps needing to gauge out my eyes. The pain wouldn't be as bad.
The smell of pancakes and bacon had me sitting upright, a process that had me regretting life as my head spun with the moving room. I groaned as my stomach threatened to give in to my sudden nausea.
I thought it best to shower and look decent before heading downstairs. Just because I felt like trash did not mean I had to look and smell like it to. The motion of moving mad everything thay much harder. The world seemed to spin one way as I spun the other trying hard not to fall, throw up, or give up and lay on the hallways rug.
After failing to relax my pounding headache and a few dry heaving false alarms, I realise that I was beyond late for school and that Josh would kill me. But I wondered why he hadn't woken me.
Shrugging on the first outfit I could rip out of my warobe and throwing my damp hair into a messy bun seemed fine enough for me as I stumbled my way down the stairs and to the chaos that was the kitchen unsure about the conversation I was walking in on.
"Yeah fucking multiple guys is okay I just wish I could come home to one every night though, you know?" Tristan muttered barely coherent as he took another bite of what looked to be waffles. It was hard to tell under the mound of food he had.
"Yeah, man I get you. I'm over that too." Aden replied. I could only see the back of him, but I gathered quickly that boys gwt over drama quickly, and nos they were now closer than ever. I smiled, slightly envious.
I spotted Josh's Metallica shirt on Tristan. Guess Josh hadn't stayed mad to give both boys some clothes to wear for the day.
I looked at the clock, the time making me gag.
"We're late!" I yelled.
Both boys turned to look my way, smiles spreading on their faces.
Aden's, filled me with butterflies and it made me instinctively smile back.
"Hi, you," he said softly, melting me and all of my thoughts along with it.
"Hi," I repeated almost as incoherent as Tristan had been.
"Don't worry, Josh got us off the hook until lunch," Tristan muttered walking off into to lounge, stopping to smack my butt as he walked on. "Morning to you too sunshine!"
Aden and I both laughed as I walked over to the fridge.
I suddenly felt him behind me before I could open it, as I turned he was quick to pin me against it. The chill of the metal did very little to cool me down as Aden's closeness set my body on fire.
"Promise one day, I'll get to spank you like that?" He whispered, a smile playing at his lips.
I nodded absentmindedly, a wave of chills settling deep beneath the surface of my skin.
"Good," he said in a hushed tone. I felt him begin to pull away, but I wasn't prepared for that just yet. My arms seemed to have a mind of it's own as I quickly moved to wrap themselves around his neck, bringing him back down to me. I couldn't let this moment end just yet, the reality of school and all that drama outside of this single moment could wait.
He stared down into my eyes, and I sighed.
His brows furrowed. "What is it Snooks?"
"Could you do something for me?" I whispered, closing my eyes.
"More favours?" He laughed, the sound making me melt."Have I not given you enough?"
"Just fucking kiss me," I demanded, unable to keep the smile away. I didn't give him the time to move before crashing my lips to his.
I pressed my body to him, pushing off of the fridge to be closer to him.
His arms reacted, circling around me hoisting me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist, feeling his body get tense as he pressed me against the countertop.
My muscles were aching, my body needing more of him than he could give to me right now.
I peered at the clock and smiled breathlessly.
"You have seven minutes before we have to leave," I whispered against him. "Either give it to me here before Tristan comes back or let me cool off Lyons," I demanded breathlessly.
Aden stopped all together and took a step back, his eyes wide with surprise.
"What did you just say Hart?" He asked in surprise, completely bewildered and breathless.
I smiled. It was nice to see Aden shaken for once, I was starting to think that only I was affected by his presence.
"I said-"
"I know what you fucking said Rachel!" He barked, still surprised. He stepped in between my legs, holding my face in his hands as he kissed me softly. The kiss was short but so sweet, before he pulled away, looking at me with a smile. "I am not fucking you on your kitchen table. And I'm certainly not doing it in seven fucking minutes," he said, seeming slightly annoyed.
I looked at him both confused and hurt. Was I the only one that wanted to have sex? Even if it meant a quick 7 minutes in heaven?
His expression softened, and so did his tone as he said. "I want to do that right. You're worth more than that." He kissed the top of my head and I smiled watching him pile food onto a plate before handing it to me.
"Eat," he demanded, propping me into one of the bench stools.
I couldn't say much else, but I smiled. Even if I didn't affect him in ways that he affected me, I was still having an impact and something about that made me happy.

Lunch was in full motion when we arrived to school, the weather was beautiful so everyone was out and about enjoying the sunshine. The boys tossed a football to eachother as I soaked up the sun, in our usual spot.
"Addddeeenn!" Came a southern drawl from the distance.
I opened one eye and watched the all-in pink Patty Labelle from behind my sunglasses as she ran awkwardly on to the grass and up to us. She was a newer girl, so I hadn't had the chance to know her before my accident, but from what I knew she was nice.
"Patty," Aden acknowledged, giving her a smile.
I knew he was being polite but something boiled within me, and I hated the feeling. Jealousy felt ugly, and I tried to smile too.
She tossed her long blond ringlets over one shoulder and adjusted her skirt.
"Party at my house darlin. Friday. Eight sharp. Be there." She paused to looked at Tristan and I. "And bring your cute little friends too!"
"Sure thing Miss Patty," Aden replied with a small nod of approval. "We'll be there."
"Yay! That's what I like to hear!" She smiled, her face beaming with joy as she all but skipped away, calling, "See y'all ther!" Over her shoulder before going over to talk to a new group.
Aden smiled at the both of us. "You're in for a treat, Patty Labelle throws the best parties," he said coming to sit by me, placing his arm lazily on my shoulders. I leaned into him slightly.
Tristan smiled. "Look at you two, a day ago he was going to murder me, thinking I was fucking you!" Tristan laughed loudly, and I was thankful that our environment was too loud for anyone to hear. "Ridiculous!" He barked, before laughing again. "Go out already!" He continued, tossing the ball up and catching it, muttering something else to himself.
I shook my head with a smile.
"He's right you know?" Aden said softly, pulling away to take off my shades.
"I also think he's still partially drunk ," I responded, squinting at him a little.
Aden laughed a little, and my heart skipped a beat.
"Rachel Alexandra Hart," he paused dramatically and then said, "Would you like to be my date to Patty's Party?" He smiled at me.
I hesitated for a moment and he eyes furrowed. "I'm just a little worried. I haven't been to a proper party in a long time Aden, this isn't really my crowd anymore."
Aden nodded with a small knowing smile. "I won't let anything happen to you, okay?" He grabbed my head, and squeezed it slightly. "If it gets to much, we'll leave. I promise."
I looked up at him with a small smile.
"Cross your heart?" I asked softly. The words bringing me back to when we were little.
He nodded with an amused grin. " Cross my heart. Scouts honour," he whispered in reply.
Before I could say anything he grabbed my pinky with his and squeezed twice. "I didn't forget."
I grinned unable to contain myself. It was like so much time had passed and yet none at all.
"So how about it? Friday. Patty's house. Eight sharp!" He said in his best southern accent before printing a kiss on my exposed shoulder.
I sighed, making myself nod.
"But I'll pick you up at 7:30 okay?" Aden's attention flickered over to Tristan, who was still playing a one-man game of football. "And I guess we're taking Mr. Partially-Still-Drunk over there with us too. Because I dont trust he'll get home after that kind of party."
We both laughed as the bell rang.
Aden picked up my bag and slung it over his shoulder, before throwing Tristan his.
"This party is going to be fun as shit!" He said excitedly. "You haven't been to a party like this I can promise you that!" Aden promised walking bakwards through the moving crowd, before we all went our separate ways to class.
