Homecoming

3rd person's POV

After what Aether saw during the night, sleeping was a hard task. Unlike Paimon who quickly fell asleep, the blonde boy kept staring at the clouds, the image of a huge dragon bowing to a tiny person burned in his retinas. The voice of the Eden he heard hours ago that occupied his ears, slowly brought him to sleep like a gentle lullaby.

When a new day arrives, Paimon wakes her friend up and smiling, asks for something for eat. The outlander wants to object to sleep a little bit more, but his growling stomach doesn't agree, so Aether arranges a meal worthy of being called breakfast. After the two finish their food calmly chatting, they head back to Mondstadt to see if they have commissions or if the Knights of Favonius have a new plan for the dragon crisis.
Walking over the headquarters they find out that the Knights of Favonius are pushed with the back against the wall by the Fatui. Those diplomats are making a clear point that Stormterror has to be put down, but Jean stands her ground until the very end and greets the traveler with a tired smile and a sigh.
Seeing the Acting Grand Master in distress, plus the fruitful night of sleep, Aether decides to show Jean and the other Captains involved in this matter what he's able to do. Behind the closed doors of the HQ, the outlander shows the Captains the corrupted dragon tear he found and then purifies it before everyone's astonished eyes. Jean breaks into a smile at the sight of the pure tear, thinking that her efforts are worth something, there's still hope. And with a light brought back to life in her, she dismissed the now Honorary Knight adding that she'll be calling him when a plan to save Stormterror will be made.

Outside of the building, Aether's ears pick up a delicate melody in the wind, and thinking is Lady Y/n, he quickens his pace to head at the plaza where the Anemo Archon statue stands. But at his arrive, there aren't many people, in fact there are only a handful attentively listening to the musician, who to the traveler's surprise is not the Noble, but a young boy with fair skin and a slim build, with dark blue hair that borders on black, short twin braids that fade into aqua at the tips.

His music is marvellous, his fingers almost caress the lyre he holds, he knows his stuff. It's a shame he doesn't have much audience. Aether applaudes the musician together with the others, but soon they all leave after the tale is over.

With a giggle, his aqua green eyes lock on the outlander's gold ones and the bard approaches with light steps. Before he could part his lips though, someone calls for the Honorary Knight. The blond boy heard that voice somewhere, so he turns expecting to see a citizen in need, but it's not the case.

Who is this guy again? He politely smiles trying to hide the fact how hard he's staring at him, who elegantly makes his way to the other making heads turns. I know he's with Lady Y/n, but which servant is he?

"Good morning Aether, Paimon." he stops before the duo and with a smirk, he brings his gloved fingers to his chin as he seems to scan the traveler head to toe. "I was looking for you. I asked around and people told me you were heading here."

"I see. And what can I do for you.... Um...." Aether tilts his head to reinforce the obvious yet hidden question.

"Name's Ahlstarr." The traveler internally slaps himself in the head for forgetting the detail that defined the servant when faceless: the sound of his jewelry. "I hope you're not occupied at the moment, I came to discuss the design of your hair accessory."

"Excuse me mister, I had the Traveler first!" the bard chuckles and puts his hands on his hips. "I thought you were more polite- Oh your mistress is not around so you think you can misbehave?"

"Hah!?" a low growl escapes from Ahlstarr's mouth that makes Paimon grow shades paler. His eyes begin to slowly glow and the Honorary Knight intervenes to avoid a fight.

He reassembles a beast... Aether keeps the thought to himself, nailing his fingers into the servant's clothes to prevent him from moving closer to the bard.

"I thought you had a vow to not hurt humans." the musician though is not helping. He must be doing it on purpose. "Hehe~"

"Which you don't belong to." Ahlstarr lifts the blond on his shoulder in a rude manner, and once he reduced the distance with the other, he falls silent. "I cannot fuckin' believe it. What are you doing, stupid lil' dumbass?"

Despite the insults, the bard goes on his toes and proudly stands with a smile. After a staring contest, Ahlstarr decides to head to the gate of the city. Useless to say the musician tags along worse than a stalker, but Aether doesn't know if it's his smile or his silence that is concerning. Seeing that Paimon got permission to sit on the servant's shoulder if she remained quiet, the brave traveler tries to negotiate his freedom. Although it seems Ahlstarr is not in a good mood and very bluntly tells the kid that he's busy; apparently the outlander walks too slow for his tastes; so no he will be not put down to walk by his own.

Along the way, the twin sees that the group is moving inside the woods. This time though the bard breaks the silence by humming a melody with flushed cheeks and a wide smile on his face, until a different harmony catches everybody's attention. Carried by the wind through the whole woods, anyone could hear such pretty symphony but Paimon and Aether both didn't expect one thing. They did not expect the bard to play a prank on Ahlstarr to slow him down, then sprinting with all his might towards the source of the voice.

"Dumbass, bring your ass back here!" and Ahlstarr starts the chase with the adventurer on his shoulder. His slender legs set a very fast pace and the poor blond ends up swinging by a side to another, upsetting his stomach a little.
With such strides it's foreseeable that the group catch up with the bard right away, but the Noble's fuming servant literally drop kicks him into the river with a loud splash and thud.

"Ahl!" when Paimon and her friend turn their heads, they see Lady Y/n quickly jumping in the waters to aid the victim. "I apologize for my boy's behavior, he's rather protective." she drops to her knees in the cold streams to be at the bard's same eye level. "Allow me to offer something to eat to...."

"I knew it was you." the nameless musician sits on his knees and carefully extends his hands to Lady Y/n's covering hood, gently pulling it down. The woman is rather puzzled but leaves the other be, on the other side though the bard is on cloud nine. With a bashful smile and wet eyes, he dares to hold the Noble's face with these words: "I have missed you so much, Sensei."

Those letters turned into meaningful words lingering in the Noble's mind for a minute, until her memory is unlocked and through her expressive eyes, anybody can see she now recognizes who's in front of her.

"Little one!" she joyfully exclaims hugging the bard and squeezing the life out of him. "What a fateful coincidence!"

Lowly growing, Ahlstarr puts down Aether and approaches the river removing his coat to offer it to his mistress. "Milady, the cold waters of the river is a hazard for your health. Please step this way." elegantly he puts the coat on the woman, and guides her with a hand on her back, but kicks the bard back in the water with a disgusted look. Gesture that earns a gasp from the Noble and she grabs the other's ear to pull as punishment. "T-the earrings, milady!"

"That was not nice, my boy. Apologize." the Noble pushes the servant over the bard and crosses her arms, waiting for the apology to be said. "Do we have to do the same thing every single time?"

You did it on purpose to not dodge, stupid fuc- What Ahlstarr sees though is the bard's huge smirk on his face and willingly stays in the waters to see the show from a better angle. I'll kill you! Swallowing his emotions and pride, the man lows his head and taking a sharp breath through his teeth, he parts his lips: "I am sorry."

"Your apology is accepted, mister." after that, the musician trots over the Noble with a bashful expression. "Hehe shall we eat together, Sensei? Do you need help?"

"Milady, may I ask where are the others? Did they left you here all alone?" Ahlstarr allows the traveler and Paimon to sit beside the woman, while he scans the surroundings.

"Izel went to wash himself at the lake not far from here, Arius went for a quick walk in search of new ingredients, and Jala is above us relaxing over the clouds." the Noble offers the fresh breakfast to her guests and proceeds to accompany it with a cup of a warm infuse of flowers and mint. "I gave them permission, don't worry." she smiles at her servant while ruffling his hair when he sits annoyed. "I almost forgot, little Aether."

"Yes, madam?" the boy turns his head over the deity putting a hold on his first bite, while his friend has eyes only for the excellent food that was put on her plate.

"Paimon, manners..." he whispers to the flying companion with a scolding tone, enough to make her slow down at least.

"After Ahlstarr has a sketch of your accessory, may I have a moment of your time? I would like to ask a few questions if that would be ok with you."

"Of course, Lady Y/n." Aether blushes when the Noble softly smiles at him, thanking him for his availability with tender pats on his head. Staying close to her, everything seems safe and peaceful. Is it the effect of a god? Or is it only with her? It happened the same thing yesterday...

"While they go through their business my little one, pray tell, how are you?" the Noble moves her full attention to the bard who ascended to nirvana staying so close to his dear one. "Entertain me with your tales." without a second of hesitation, he begins to narrate through his poems and songs what happened so far keeping the details for another time when they will be alone.
