Becoming One Of The People

Sorry it took me a while, this chapter's VERY long!

Jake's POV

I tap my fingers against the table, figuring out what the hell I'm going to do. "Haven't gotten lost in the woods, have you?" A firm voice yells, I turn to see Quaritch. "Your last report was more than two weeks ago. I'm starting to doubt your resolve." He picks up a chair and places it down. "The way I see it, it's time to terminate the mission. You gave me some good information about that Tree Of Souls place. Yeah, I got them by the balls with that when this turns into a shit fight; which it will." He snaps, Audrey fills my head, she'll never forgive me.

"By the way, you're gonna get your legs back. I got you corporate approval! Gonna have you on a shuttle tonight." He adds, I thought I would've been happier, but I'm just numb. "I have to finish this, there's one more thing. There's a ceremony, it's the final stage of becoming a man. If I do it, I'm one of them. They'll trust me, I can negotiate the terms of their location." I say, trying to not show the hurt in my voice. He looks me straight in the face and stands up. "Well, then, you better get it done, Corporal." He intones, without any emotion.

Audrey's POV

Jake throws a punch, I dodge it and pull his arm forwards, sweeping his leading leg. Taking him down with his own weight. I hear a muffled 'shit' as he thumps to the ground. "Have I ever mentioned I've studied martial arts since I was eleven?" I grin, he groans as he shakes his head. He puts his hand out for me to help him up. I was cocky enough to fall for it. As soon as my finger touches his, he thrashes me to the ground, pinning my hands above my head in one swift movement. I struggle to get out of his reach from underneath him. He was heavier than he looked.

"You're so easy to control." He slyly murmurs, I frown deeply. I roll myself and flip him over; pinning his hands above his head. "And easy to temper." He smirks, my face burns up even more. "Ugh!" I hiss backing away from him. I crack my neck before going for round two. I run at him and punch him in the jaw, he punches me in the stomach. I go to kick him in the stomach, but he firmly grabs onto my leg and rotates it, nearly tripping over myself. He swiftly turns behind me, smacking my ass. I yelp in pain.

He goes to punch me again, I grab his wrist and twist it; making him turn around to get out of my grasp. I put him in a headlock position, waiting for him to tap me. He scrambles a little but I keep him in position. He taps me and I let go, crossing my arms. "Jake I didn't say you could slap my ass!" I growl as I rub it, there was obviously a red mark. Sure a couple of men have done it, but nothing like this. "What were you thinking?!" I clench my fist in annoyance, waiting for him to respond. "I.. wasn't thinking." He mumbled, not looking up to me.

Jake's POV

She walks up to me, eyeing me every step she takes. I finally speak up. "Look, I'm-" SLAP! A firing sting spreads across my cheek, making my head turn in the direction she slapped. I touch the area, I felt like passing out after that. That was one hell of a slap. "You asshole! You sexually harassed me and all you could say is I wasn't thinking?!" She snaps, her eyes filling with water. A ton of guilt rushes through my body and mind. You're such a prick, Jake I think to myself. "Audrey I..." My voice trails off as her cold hand rests onto my stinging cheek.

"I'm sorry. I overreacted, you didn't even get to explain yourself." She slightly rubs it with her index finger, giving it a tingly feeling. How could she be so forgiving, especially if I hadn't even apologised yet? I feel weirdly mad at her for taking pity on me. "I shouldn't have to explain. There's no valuable reason for doing that, you definitely shouldn't be the one apologising. I'm sorry, I was being an absolute jerk. I needed that slap by the way." I reassure her, she laughs at the last sentence. I felt like kissing her right then and there... I wanted to so badly, I wanted her so badly. I wanted to do so many things to her. Every time she would lay a damn finger on me I would burn up. I couldn't take it much longer...

"Mixed feelings, huh?" Audrey laughs, painting white elaborate patterns across my chest. "You know it." I chuckle. I watch as she leans back and takes in my body figure, looking me up and down. "I did a good job making those patterns." Audrey squints her eyes and leans back into my chest, trying to find mistakes. "Or was that just an excuse to check me out?" I smirk, tilting her chin up, now inches away from her face.

She bites her bottom lip, pushing my nose with her finger making me move back. "In your dreams buddy." She teases, I frown in response, she pokes her tongue out childishly. "Now I need to get this done. Stay still." Audrey demands, taking my chin into her petite hand. I giggle at the sensation of her fingers brushing against my face. "It tickles!" I chuckle, she rolls her eyes. "You look pretty good in white by the way." She whispers, sliding her white painted fingers across my face. I smirk and nod, earning a smile from her. She drags the paint down my lips, catching a glimpse of them. "I should probably go get dressed now." She flusters, looking away and getting up. I laugh a little at the gesture, she's too adorable.

Audrey's POV

Neytiri patterns my body and face with pearl white paint. She places a white flower into my hair and helps me put a thin white-beads necklace on. "You look beautiful." A husky voice says from behind Neytiri. "The color matches your white streak in your hair." He adds, walking towards me. I look at him, there's that damn smirk again! My heart melts as Jake tucks hair behind my ear, I touch the back of his hand, wishing I could hug him. But our white paint would smudge.

Grace walks in, smiling brightly. "You look gorgeous Audrey." She exclaims, she turns her head to Jake. "You look.. fine Jake." She jokingly teases, I laugh in return. I feel a small nudge at my stomach, I look up to see Jake. "It's just a joke." I assure him, but he still looks grumpy. I turn around to help Neytiri pack up the paint. As I bend down, I hear a gasp coming from Grace. "What is that?!" She runs to me, playing a hand on my back. I mouth a 'shit' at her reaction, she isn't going to be happy. "Well, Jake and I were training.. Uh- he got carried away I guess?" I hesitantly turn to her. She raises her eyebrows in an 'are you fucking serious' way. I nod in shame, she motions me to turn back around. "Have you even looked at it?" She worriedly asks. "Sort of? I can only see a bit of it." I mumble just loud enough for her to hear me. Her gaze then snaps to Jake, he smiles sheepishly. She walks up to him and you'll never guess what happened next.

SLAP AGAIN! A groan in pain fills the air. I feel my breath hitch. She slapped him in the exact same area where I had slapped. She then leaves, not speaking again. "That's gotta hurt." I mumble, his eyes land on me. I give him a concerned face with a small smile. He tumbles to the ground, resting his hand on his cheek.

I go get a leaf filled with rain water, after I return I kneel down in front of him and grab my bottom cloth, I dip it into the cold water to wipe his cheek with. I didn't care that my clothes would get covered in paint. I gently take his hand away from his cheek and rest the cloth against it. He flinches a little, but I cup his other cheek making him stay still. I could tell it hurt him when I touched it, he would squint his eyes or grip onto my top if it did.

As I brush it against his cheek he looks into my eyes, not saying a word. "Don't think too much about it, I felt bad." I playfully nudge his shoulder. A chuckle escapes his lips. A wide grin spreads across his face as he takes my hand into his. He kisses the top of it gently, he mouths a thank you. I do not know if a Na'vi can blush but if they can, mine would definitely be showing right now. I nod my head as I grab my cloth again. Not that I hadn't realised it yet, but he had such strong cheekbones.

Not to mention his jawline. "Your jawline could cut bread." I joke, I laugh a little at the pun I made. "That was very cheesy." He chuckles, I pout my lips as if I were offended. Neytiri had left some paint for me to repaint half of his face. I gasp as I look at the red mark across his cheek, even though it had faded due to me taking care of it, it was still very red.

I go to touch it with my bare fingers, once again he flinches. I feel a deep hole fill my gut, immediately feeling guilty. I turn my head as I innocently kiss his cheek (where the slap mark was). My lips stick to his skin a little; making me chuckle silently. I wanted to kiss him again.. only this time on his soft lips, his broad shoulders, his toned neck and body. I had only realised I was staring at his chest when Jake waved his hands in front of me. "Are you back on Pandora yet?" He laughs. "Did you say something..?" I mumble still half in my trance. "Uh yes. What I said was we need to get this paint thing done, we're waisting time." He says, I exhale and grab the paint. I sigh as I start to repaint the patterns.

"You are now children of the Omaticaya. You are part of The People." The clan leader says. He motions Jake and I to face each other and place our hands on each other's shoulders. Suddenly, the rest of the clan start placing their hands on our bodies. I feel the energy run through the whole clan.

Once the ceremony was finished, I feel a sign of relief. I've finally become one of The People! Jake swings his arms around me, I gasp a little. I return the favour and hug him back. "I'm never letting go." He mumbles into my neck. I giggle as I start to unwrap my arms, but he pulls me in tighter. Feeling his hot breath against my skin made me quiver just thinking about it. I snake my hands up his back. He slides his hands down to my ass, he lays a couple of fingers where my mark is. I slap his back making him grunt. He quickly replaces his hands to where they were before, taking the hint.

"Playing hard to get." He mumbles under his breath, I look up at him. I wanted to slap his annoying (and handsome) smirk right off his face again. "Maybe if you play your cards right, I'll stop." I reply, raising my face to his. His eyes wince a little, realising that I had heard him. His worried expression morphs into a smug one, his eyes lock onto my lips. Suddenly, he snaps right back at my eyes, pretending like nothing had happened. Mo'at then calls out my name. I untangle myself out of Jake's arms and walk towards her. "Yes?" I reply, she forcefully grabs me by the hand. Leaving Jake by himself.

Soon we stop at the Tree Of Souls. I stare in awe at the beautiful tree, I swing my tail in excitement. I then see Neytiri sitting down, why is she here? "Audrey. We need to talk to you about something. Come, sit." Mo'at motions me to sit next to Neytiri. "I need you to connect your halu to one of the vines." She demands, I hesitantly tilt my head. "But wh-"
"Just do it, focus." She interrupts, flicking me on the arm. I sigh as I attach my halu to the vine, immediately loud voices fill my feline ears. A warm feeling shoots down my body, making me feel content. A breathy laugh escapes my lips. I detach my braid and turn to face Mo'at. "Wow..." I exclaim, she nods her head. "Now, go touch the trunk of the tree with both hands."  She says. I walk to the trunk, I kneel down and place my hands onto it. Immediately, pain strikes me in the chest. I scream collapsing onto the ground and closing my eyes shut. After a couple of seconds, my mind goes blank.

I flutter my eyes open to see a white room, no one else is there, no objects.. no anything. "Hello?" I yell, knowing it was no point. A thick strand of hair falls down to my chest. I gasp when I look at it, all of it was white! I bring out more hair.. and it was white too. I start to panic, I then hear an angelic voice call my name. I look up, down, left, right, but still no sight of anyone.

Suddenly a hand touches the back of my shoulder, I scream in surprise. I turn around to see a beautiful lady. Her eyes were like white jewels, she had beautiful white hair with silver at the tips of it and her face was so delicate and beautiful but sharp and mysterious at the same time. "Do not panic child." The beautiful lady rests her hand on my shoulder. I try speaking but no words would come out. "My child.. you have grown so much." She assures me rubbing her thumb along my cheek. "E- Ewya?" I whisper through happy tears, she nods gracefully. "Why am I here? How am I here? Am I dead? Oh no!" I start panic again, looking deep into her eyes. She laughs a little at my reaction. "Darling, your time has definitely not come yet."
I exhale in relief. "You are destined for greatness." She whispers, filling my heart with fulfilment. "Wait- greatness? My destiny?" I confusedly ask. Suddenly I see her fade away. "Ewya!" I shout, feeling my head go light. Everything then goes black.

"Audrey. Audrey!" I hear a faded voice yell, I open my eyes to see Jake hovering over me as his hands cup my face. As soon as I know it, he lifts me up and squeezes me into a tight hug. I groan as a headache spreads across my forehead. "Don't scare me like that again." He mumbles, hiding himself in my hair. I widen my eyes in confusion. "Jake, let her be." Mo'at snaps, he proceeds but is still firmly gripping onto my hand.

She places her hand on my forehead. "Her temperature seems fine." She adds, gaining a relieved sigh from Jake. "What did you see Audrey?" She asks wide eyed. I scramble out some of my hair, it wasn't silvery white anymore. "My hair was pure white.. and I think I saw Ewya." I murmur, the top of her mouth perks up. "Come." She whispers, she picks me up by the hand. My hand detaches to Jake's, I look back at him. He jokingly gives me a pout, I give him a pout back.

"Please do not freak out." Mo'at says, in the corner of my eye, Neytiri sits down near us. "You are next in line to be Tsahik." She adds, nearly looking down to the floor. "Wait- what?! What about Neytiri?" I yell, Neytiri rests her hand onto my back. "I understand and know. It is alright." She whispers, but I could tell there was at least some sadness behind her voice. "Ever since you have had that white streak in your hair, you've been destined to be Tsahik. Ewya has chosen you." Mo'at intones. I look at her directly in the eyes. "You must not tell anyone yet. Including Jake." She adds, I nod in agreement. I wanted to tell him, but I knew it wasn't right.

Jake's POV

All I could hear was loud music and natives dancing. I was talking to a couple of men, making them laugh. Suddenly, Audrey caught my eye. I stare in awe as she dances freely and gracefully. She links eyes with me and winks. I playfully wink back, causing her to laugh.

Immediately Tsu'tey and more men come running in, carrying some sort of drink. "Enough talk." Tsu'tey snaps, passing the drink to me. I raise my eyebrow and drink it. "Goddamn." I squint, making Tsu'tey smirk. Tsu'tey picks another one up for him to consume. I start to chug the liquid, not letting any drop slip. I finish it, causing the other natives to cheer. Tsu'tey then gives me another drink, challenging me. I look back to see Grace, playfully shaking her head. I ignore her and chug it. The natives start cheering my name loudly.

The men then start getting up to dance. I also get up, drunkenly stumbling everywhere I go. Tsu'tey pushes me, causing me to slip and fall over. I shake my head and get back up. "He's done." Grace chuckles.

No one's POV

"I thought, that enough drink. You would not be so ugly." Tsu'tey goofily laughs, making Jake chuckle as well. "Well I'm sorry." He whoozily answers. "Warriors. They hide inside machines, and attack from far away. I did not think sky people could be brave." Tsu'tey's mood changes, Jake stares at him for a couple of seconds. Then Audrey comes running in, grasping Jake's arm. "You must dance!" Audrey exclaims, he hesitantly shakes his head. Audrey laughs as she pulls Jake off his butt and walks towards the music.

Jake catches Grace's hand and pulls her along as well. "No! I'm a scientist, I don't dance." Grace exclaims laughing. Norm catches up, joining in as well. Jake soon finds himself dancing with Audrey. He was starting to actually enjoy it. While they were dancing, their hands accidentally stay connected. They instantly feel a strong connection between them, like a spark. Jake's catlike eyes narrow as his body tenses. They stare into each other's eyes, never wanting to let go. Audrey breaks the moment and playfully pushes him back. "Want to go somewhere else?" She asks. "I though you'd never ask." Jake laughs. "Douche." She teases dragging him by the wrist.
