Five - Moon

As a child, and sometimes even now, you would wonder what it would be like to have powers. You wondered what it would be like to teleport from one place to another, how it would feel to be able to morph your body to alter the way you looked, and more often than not, you thought about what it would be like to fly. Sure, there were planes, helicopters, etcetera, etcetera, but that wasn't the sort of flying you thought of. You thought it would've been relaxing, peaceful, calming, and other synonyms, but given your current circumstances, it felt like the opposite.

Being held so high above the ground, the only thing- or would it be person?- holding you up was a large robot that essentially changed identities when there was and wasn't light. The cold metal of the robot's hands was vaguely comforting as you somehow moved across the roof. You were unsure of where you were going, although, you were quite honestly clueless about most of the things in this building. Your hold on your bear plush tightened as you avoided looking down, not wanting to remind yourself of the imagery of your body just going splat if it ended up falling if the robot let go of you and didn't try to save you and-

"What are you thinking of, Little One?" The voice snapped you from your quickly worsening thoughts. You slightly flinched at the sound of the voice, partially forgetting that the animatronic holding you was the sole reason for why you were in the air.

"Nothing much, just uh. Having a bit of a midlife crisis, I guess. Just the usual." You ended with a nervous laugh, trying to play off your growing fear. Your smile dropped quickly as you recalled what he said. "Hey wait, why is everyone calling me Little One!? I'm not that small! You're all just abnormally tall!"

The robot holding you let out an amused hum in response, the sound seeming slightly wrong as you could practically feel it emitting from the metal pressed against your back. It slightly pissed you off that he didn't explain himself. Sure, Monty had given you a bit of an explanation, but that was for the new nickname the gator had given you. You swallowed a lump in your throat, clutching the plushie in your hands tighter, silently wishing that you were back with Vanessa, or even Monty. At least with them you would've gotten some answers.

Looking down for a moment again, you snapped your eyes back to the roof. You then cleared your throat, maybe talking with the robot holding you would distract you from the thought of him dropping you.

"So uh, M-Moon, right?" You silently cursed at yourself, ashamed that your voice had cracked and you had stuttered.

"That's my name, yes. And yours is Y/N. You're Vanessa's assistant, right?"

"Uh, yeah. But you already knew that, didn't you?"

"Well you already knew my name was Moon, so I thought it was only fair." You could almost hear the eerie smile in his voice.

You squished your lips to a line, not really knowing how to continue the conversation. Forgetting about your fear of heights for a moment, you looked down, noticing you were getting close to the Daycare again. Somehow. Weren't you just on the floor above? How did you get down here? Despite noticing that you were headed to the Daycare, you decided to ask for clarification.

"Where exactly are we going?"

"Isn't that obvious? To the Daycare." You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms.

"Well duh, but why?"

"Why not?"

You deadpanned to the air in front of you, displeased that you hadn't received any new information. "Alright, fine then. Why me?"

"Why you?" He repeated. He's starting to sound like a parrot. Or an echo. An eerie, mechanic echo.

"Yes, that's what I asked." The robot- Moon, laughed a little before responding.

"Why not you?"

You could feel your eye twitch as you resisted the urge to smack him in his face. Even though it would only hurt you and not him. You figured that Sun and Moon, per their names, were complete opposites. Although, they did seem to have one thing in common. Well, something that wasn't their shared body. Neither of them would reveal anything regarding Moon. Sun wouldn't answer any of your questions about him, and Moon just didn't answer your questions.

"Alright, Little Light, you might want to hold on."

Your eyes widened and you clutched the plush in your arms tighter while also using a hand to grab onto one of the mechanical arms around your middle. "What, why? What's happened? What did you do? And what's with the nickname!?"

You heard the animatronic laugh in response. You then felt one of the thin arms unravel from around you. Your eyes widened further as your hold on both the bear plush and his arm tightened. Feeling your previous smooth gliding come to a strange stuttering stop, you squeezed your eyes shut, knuckles paling as your grip tightened further. You could feel your hands start to shake as your weight was shifted. Your previous position changed as you heard Moon's feet make contact with something.

"Alright, you can let go now, Little Light. Hm. Perhaps Firefly would fit better." You cracked an eye open, then let out a sigh as you unfurled from your position. Your legs dangled as you waited for the large animatronic to put you down. You twisted your body and neck as you looked up at him. You were met with a face that was almost identical to Sun's. The only differences being the red glow in the eyes instead of the washed out white, the pointed rays were replaced by a hat, and the colouring of his face seemed a lot more noticeable. The area that was a darker yellow was now black, the larger portion that used to be a pale yellow was now off-white in colour.

"What's wrong, Firefly? Can't reach the floor?" His voice came out in a teasing tone, followed by a dark chuckle. You glared at the animatronic, the urge to hit him from earlier returning as you swore the grin on his face grew. You squirmed in his hold, mumbling curses as he didn't budge. "You could always ask politely, you know? It's basic etiquette."

"Is it basic etiquette to kidnap someone too?" You shot back, not stopping your worm-like movements. You were too focused trying to get out of Moon's hold, you didn't notice he'd looked down at you. You froze when he began to chuckle again, quickly but gently setting you down on the ground, he turned away from you, his chuckles growing to full-blown laughter.

You looked towards him, blinking in confusion as you watched him double over in laughter. "D-dude... It wasn't even that funny, are you-"

"Oh, I'm going to enjoy my time with you Firefly." His voice, despite being mechanical and slightly gravelly, was also smooth. How the fuck? You looked up at him, feeling immensely confused and slightly intimidated.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"It means I enjoy your company. I thought that was obvious. You aren't the brightest of the bunch, are you Firefly? Oh you poor thing. No wonder that gator was chasing you like you were prey."

"W-wha- excuse me, I was top of my class!" In third grade, but he doesn't need to know that.

He walked over to you, his large hand reaching up to pat you on the head. "I'm sure you were Firefly. I'm sure you were." He was mocking you. Your face flushed in embarrassment.

"Whatever! Leave me alone!" You waved your arms about, plush still in hand as you turned around and walked away, an angry pout on your face. You could hear Moon chuckle from behind you. You muttered angrily to yourself as you looked around. Wherever you were in the Daycare, it was a mess. Among the mess though, you saw a door, and near it, you saw a tunnel. Like from in the playground in the Daycare.

"Wait a minute, where the hell did you take me!?" You yelled out, turning to the animatronic behind you. This was definitely not the Daycare. This was somewhere completely different, and this guy was trying to gaslight you into thinking otherwise.

"We're in the Daycare. I told you earlier."

You deadpanned at him. "This isn't the Daycare. This is some depressed teens room before they get a hold of their life."

"I'll prove it to you then. Come up here." With that said, he made his way up some stairs that were almost invisible in the darkness and clutter. You rolled your eyes, following after Moon, almost tripping on the steps.

Lifting your gaze from the steps, you saw Moon sitting on the edge of the balcony. His legs were dangling over the edge, his head pointed towards the rest of the daycare. You sat yourself down near him, crossing your legs and placing the Freddy plush in your lap. In the corner of your eye you could see Moon glance towards you, then to your lap before his gaze returned to the daycare. You could tell the mood had become less playful, instead feeling sombre.

"I told you we were at the Daycare."

With a small smile you spoke. "This is above the Daycare, so technically, I was right."

Moon chuckled in response. He visibly relaxed. He glanced towards your lap again before getting up, telling you he'd be right back before he disappeared from your view. You looked back over the Daycare, noticing it looked much larger from up here. You could see large black cords strewn about the floor, crawling up some pieces of the equipment. You wondered what they led to. You then wondered why whatever they were was in a kids play area. Based on your interaction with Sun earlier, they had easy access to sharp objects that could easily break the cords open, so what the hell was going on there?

Looking to your left, you could see the main entrance to the Daycare and the large golden statues in front of it. You smiled at the statues, half expecting them to start moving and greet you.

"What are you looking at?" You jumped at the voice, turning to your right to see a Moon plushie right in front of you. You looked behind you, seeing Moon push the plush further to your face. You took the plush, noticing it was a different body type to the Freddy plush you had. With the plush in your hands, you looked towards Moon who was now sitting where he was before.

"I was looking at the statues of you and Sun." He looked at you for a moment before letting out a hum. Your gaze turned back to the plush in your hands. You smiled. That's 2/6 now. I wasn't going to collect these, but now I feel like I have to. As you stared at the plush, you noticed something. "Hey Moon?" He hummed again. "Why does your plush have a blue eye and a red eye?"

"What?" He crawled over to you, so you held the plush towards him, showing him that the plush did have two different coloured eyes. He seemed to flinch at the plush, turning away slowly as he sat back down, head hanging down. "That. Right. I almost forgot about that." One of his hands rose, pressing against his right eye, the one that was blue on the plushie.

Oh shit. Do robots have trauma?

"I... I'm sorry."

"Don't apologise. It's not like it was your fault. You weren't even here when it happened."

You bit your lip, unsure if you should pry or not. You sighed, holding the plush in your hands as you turned your body to face the animatronic. "Well, I'm here now if you'd like to talk about it?" He quickly turned to you. Shit. "I-I mean, if you want, you don't have to, it's your business and I'm just a new employee so-"

He pressed a finger to his sculpted mouth. "Sh. Stop talking."

You blinked. "What-"

"I said shh!"

Your brows furrowed. "Yeah, I heard, but why-"

"Because I can hear something, now hush." You opened your mouth to speak again, but was stopped when Moon pressed the cold metal of his hand to your mouth. You glared at the animatronic. Right when I was getting him to open up too.

You could hear a door open. Then a voice. "Moon!"

The animatronic scooped you up in his arms, taking a few steps into the room you'd both come from before putting you down again. He then casually walked back out to the balcony, looking over to the entrance and speaking. "Yes Officer Vanessa?"

"Bring me the new employee. I know you have them." Vanessa sounded... to be frank, she sounded pissed. She also sounded like she was struggling to keep composed.

"New employee?" Moon echoed. "I didn't know we had a new employee, so how could I have them?"

"Because Monty told me you did."

"Monty has also said that he could curse, but that's strictly out of our programming, so can you really trust everything the green goblin says?" Moon chuckled a little. You could faintly hear Vanessa sigh from the entrance. She seemed like she wasn't getting paid enough for all the stuff she put up with.

"Moon, I am not in the mood for your games. Bring Y/N over, and I'll be out of your hair."

"But Officer Vanessa, I don't have hair. How could you be in it?" You could almost hear the smile in his voice as he said that. Sure, he had faked a sad, confused tone, but you'd heard enough of his teasing to know he was having the time of his life.

"You know what I meant Moon, now give me the new employee before I go and get them myself."

"Oho? Will you now?" Moon tilted his head in a questioning manner.

"Moon."

Moon sighed. Or, it sounded like he did. "Fine, fine, give me a moment." He then began to walk towards you. "Alright Firefly. This is goodbye for now. Perhaps we'll meet again another night." He then scooped you up, making sure you had both of your plushies in your hands before he made his way towards the balcony again. Just as mysteriously as before, he began to float into the air, heading towards the entrance of the Daycare as Vanessa made her way down the steps to meet you.

As you got closer to the entrance, you also got closer to the ground, until Moon was standing once again. He held you in his arms until Vanessa burst through the wooden doors. Her hair was messed up, her hat angled, and her clothes slightly out of order. She must've been running the entire time she searched for you, her face was flushed as she caught her breath again. She quietly cursed the size of the Pizzaplex.

"I've gotta put a bell on you or something. Everytime I turn around, you disappear." Vanessa sighed as she fixed her hair and hat.

"Oh, I can help with that." Moon spoke up. You then heard the chiming of bells as he fiddled with the ribbons on his wrist. Looking up at him, you tilted your head and raised a brow.

"I think you've helped enough tonight Moon." Vanessa sounded exhausted. You turned towards her to speak but was stopped when Moon spoke again.

"Hold still Firefly." You froze in place, his voice was closer than it was before. You were sure that if he could breathe, you would be feeling his breath on your neck right now. Instead, you felt a soft fabric wrap around your neck, cold metal occasionally brushing against your skin. You resisted the urge to shiver at the cool touch. It became difficult to hold back your shivers when he brushed your hair out of the way and began to tie the fabric. "There. Now you have a piece of Sun and I everywhere you go." He lifted his head. "And you have a way of telling if they're close or not."

Vanessa's eyes narrowed, her gaze focused on your neck. "Y/N, take a few steps, would you?" You blinked for a moment but complied, adjusting your hold on the plushies before taking a few steps, deciding to walk around Moon. With each step, you could hear a bell from your neck. You then looked towards Moon's hands, noticing that one of his wrists no longer had a ribbon wrapped around it.

"Wait, but don't you need it?" He chuckled.

"Don't worry, we have spares. Although, it will take me a while to find one." You hummed, turning towards Vanessa and walking towards her. "Until we meet again, Firefly." You turned your head, waving to the animatronic as Vanessa dragged you away, slamming the wooden doors shut before walking towards the steps again.

"I hate Wednesdays." You faintly heard her mutter as you trailed after her.
