Long trek

"Hey wait up!" shouted at the woman. Standing out of the chair I went to follow after Madam Moon. Leaving  the flame lit room, all the warmth I had around me vanished. Ignoring the enveloping chill, I forced my way down the dark hallway we entered from. The more distance I closed from me to the door the more my body would shiver. The moment I touched the cold door handle the feeling  in my gut told me something was wrong.

Opening the door I was immediately faced with a freezing cold gust of wind and rain. "What the hell! It wasn't like that before."
Shutting the heavy door was the best I could think of to not freeze as I'm butt naked except for this medical gown that I'm wearing which provides no protection from the cold.

He walked back into the room with the lit fireplace and felt the heat surround him. The fire had glowed less than before as the light it emitted was darker. My search for warm clothing was now on the clock.

Before leaving the room to search for clothing I  grabbed a dried torch on the table. Part of the tip was burned showing that it had been used in the past. Lighting the torch with the flames of the fireplace, I slowly exited the familiar room. Instead of going to the door, I took a left turn down the hallway. The lit torch barely gave off enough light to let me see a meter ahead.

The torche's light didn't help guide me as it's flame kept getting dimmer by the second. Tearing off parts of the medical gown. Turing the gown into a shirt didn't produce enough light to give me more sight. Still even with the little flame, I could notice a reflection of a brass doorknob In front of me on the left side.

Closing the distance between me and the doorknob filled me with hope; as I knew Gerhman was not the type of person to fill a room with useless items. Clutching the round handle hastily. I gently swung the door open. Taking a step was not easy for two reasons. My legs were getting harder to move because of the cold. The other being that it felt like I was stealing from him.

"it's either I die or survive, and Gerhman would want me to survive." I said to give me resolve.

Walking into the room, I instantly saw many unlit candles and a torch holder on a table in the middle of the room.  Without hesitation I lit the candles with the torch to give me more light to work with. After lighting the candles, the room became much more visible.

Spools of thread and rolls of fabric were scattered across the table. Lining the wall were many mannequin dummies. Very few of the many mannequins had any pieces of clothing on, an any who did had only one part of the out fit. As if who ever was designed them knew they matched.

Looking over the new found apparel. I could tell without even trying them on, that none of the pieces would fit as they were a bit on the laddie side. "Still better than nothing. I'll just have to tighten everything on ." I said to myself. I cared not if it was a good or bad thing that I was talking to myself.

Starting first with the pants. I pulled them up and used one of the leather belts to tighten them. The footwear was nothing special as it was just thick black Victorian era boots. Finally in my wardrobe change was the thick wool shirt and vest. Following that was a wool Fock vest.

"This should be enough to keep me warm." I said while walking out the room with the torch in one hand. "All of this just to talk to someone who's giving me my back story instead of helping me" I groaned as I walked back to the hallway.

Stepping back out the hallway with warm clothes felt much better than when I just had that medical gown. Walking up to the exit, I brace myself for a blast of cold air. The dry wind of the cold didn't affect me as much as last time. Still the feeling of a cold face didn't go away.

The raindrops felt like little pebbles constantly bombarding me. An as always where rain goes mud soon follows. Each step felt like quicksand with how slow I moved through the mud. "I'm starting to wonder if all of this continue a conversation is worth it?"

My grueling slow pace was brought to a halt as a fallen oak stood in my way. Even with the wind now gone, it was easy to tell what caused there tree to fall. "Ugh." I groaned as there was no way around it. Climbing over was not as easy as it sounded. The wet mud covering the tree made it difficult for me to get a good grip on the bark.

After getting over the tree I felt like a slime covered slug. Once I had finished wiping off the mud, I look ahead of me to see if there were anymore obstacles. To my surprise nothing laid before me except the gate to the Great tree.

The rusty metal gate made a eerie sound as it swiveled on its hinges. Stepping onto the grass laid path, the soft crunch of the wet grass some how soothed my irritable mood. It seemed the more I kept walking in this large garden, the more details I noticed since last time.

Each of the white flowers reflected the light by the moon back at the celestial object. Like two reflection bouncing back off each other. The beauty of such a simple thing mesmerizes me.

But my calm feeling that enveloped me quickly left. The once pure white flowers that reflected such beauty, now have turned into velvety red on all flowers in the field. A long shadow casted itself over a sections of the flowers.

Following the shadow to its origin is a decision I regretted immediately. Floating down from the sky was the same beast I saw in my dreams.
