CHAPTER 6

Albert is yelling all throughout his drive back to his apartment. Though he started to hang out with Jake and Joshua in different clubs, he knows getting dirty with girls is not a right thing to do.

He has been in the US for 7 years. And it's been 5 years since his dad gave up on his treatment and died. He and his mom decided to stay in the US after that. He finished college and finished Business Management. That was when he met Jake and Joshua.

His life was never the same there. He started drinking alcohol and take cigarettes. He hangs out with different girls whenever he can. He tried to live a new life in the US to forget all the problems he have.

But with all those things in life, there is still one thing he can't forget. He can't forget her smile, her eyes, her laugh, everything about her he can't forget. He can't forget Melanie, his first love. And the promise he left her.

The promise he wasn't able to fulfil for her. She must be mad at him until this moment. He mourned for his father's death by doing those things. His dad must be crying from heaven right now.

"Where the heck have you been Albert Romero?," his mom yelled at him the moment he entered the door. "I have been calling you since last night. All the calls took me to voice mail. What happened?"

"I was with Jake and Joshua mom, don't worry," Albert answered.

"Don't worry? Don't worry? How can I not worry when you were with those boys? Those boys were nothing but trouble. And you started to be a bad boy like them. What happened to you, AL, huh?,"

"Mom, I am a big man. I know what I am doing. And I can do whatever I want with my f****ed up life!

Albert ran to his room and stayed there. He sobbed quietly for his mom not to hear him. He felt sorry for his mother. She doesn't deserve what is happening to them. If only his mom would decide to finally come back home to the Philippines.

Albert woke up and he saw his mom sitting beside him.

"How are you feeling, Al?," she asked.

"I'm good, mom. Why are you here?," he asked.

"This came from the mail."

His mom gave him the letter with a french toast and coffee on a tray. After saying thanks, his mom left his room for Albert to be alone.

The letter was from the Philippines. The letter was from a friend who never lost contact with them all through the years. The moment he opened the letter, he saw that it isn't really from his friend. It was from his uncle back home who is currently managing their business.

Albert became curious and started reading the letter.
