Sonic Comet's eyes widened as he felt the train start to stop. He gave a yawn and stretched his legs and wings to shake the sleep out of his system, rubbing his eyes as he looked out the window to see a small town bustling with ponies of different colors and breeds. The foal's eyes widened at the sight and a smile crept across his face.

Sonic Comet: Wow, this place reminds me a lot of Greenville.

Twilight Sparkle: Good morning sleepyhead.

Sonic turned his head to see Twilight smiling at him. He then returns the smile.

Sonic Comet: Good morning Twilight.

Twilight Sparkle: Did you sleep well?

Sonic Comet: After napping for a thousand years, it's good to rest *laughs*.

Twilight smiled and motioned for him to follow. Sonic complied and followed the purple mare and the rest of the Mane 6 out of the train station and on their way through town. Upon reaching the city, Sonic Comet began to look around curiously.

Spike: Welcome to Ponyville.

The foal didn't answer, he just watched the place without saying anything.

Twilight Sparkle: How are you, Sonic?

Sonic Comet: Everything, I think... It's just that everything is so different... But at the same time it's similar... It's the first city I visit after so long...

Spipe: You can take that off your to-do list now.

Sonic is then confused by this.

Sonic Comet: What list of things?

Spike: I meant a... List of things you want to do before... yeah, kick your ass.

Spike is kind of sad to hear this and tries to cheer up his new friend.

Spike: Well I guess you have all the time in the world to make new friends. Who knows I won't help you.

Sonic Comet: What? Oh really? Thank you Spike.

Spike then jumps on Sonic's back and starts telling him various things.

Spike: We could go to a donut shop, you'll love the donuts they make. Oh, and there's the comics...

Sonic was paying attention to what Spike was saying or at least he was trying as he couldn't understand most of the things he was talking about, he then turned to Twilight with a smile on his face.

Sonic Comet: I think I'll like it here.

As they went their way, the Mane 6 separated, each one going their own way, until only Sonic Comet, Twilight and Spike remained. The three soon arrived at a large tree in the center of town. The lavender mare opened the door and the foal's eyes widened at the sheer amount of books in the place.

Sonic Comet: Wow...

He then walked to the center of the library as he surveyed the place in awe.

Sonic Comet: There are so many books here.

Twilight Sparkle: Welcome to the Golden Oak Library, your new home.

Sonic Comet: This place is like a book paradise.

Twilight Sparkle: Do you like to read?

Sonic Comet: Uncle Zoom was an inventor and always read a lot of books, I think I caught his mania.

As Sonic Comet went to the bookshelves and looked at the books, Twilight walked up to Spike and whispered in his ear.

Twilight Spakle: (Whispers) Spike, could you prepare the guest room?

Spike: (Whispers) Of course.

Spike then went upstairs and while Sonic took a book from the shelf that talked about the history of Equestria, he flips through the pages seeing various events and historical facts, Sonic's ears fall off and he closes the book and puts it back on the shelf. .

Sonic Comet: I missed a lot, didn't I...?

Twilight then walks over to him and places her hoof on the foal's shoulder.

Twilight Sparkle: I know it must be hard for you but you don't have to. Me and Spike and the girls will be here if you need us.

Sonic Comet then looks at Twilight for a moment before a tear of happiness runs down his face.

Sonic Comet: Thank you Twilight.

Spike then appears on the stairs.

Spike: All set Twilight.

Twilight Sparkle: Wow, that was fast.

Spike: I usually go there when you go on those crazy study runs.

Spike then rolls his eyes as Twilight blushes in embarrassment before shaking her head.

Twilight Sparkle: Follow me Sonic.

She then goes up the stairs and Pegasus soon follows her a little confused and curious. She then opens the door to reveal a bedroom with a single bed, a desk, and a bookshelf with some Spike books and comics.

Twilight Sparkle: Here it is. I asked Spike to put up some books for you, after all, this is a library.

Sonic then enters the room and sits on the bed seeing how soft and comfortable the mattress was. He then looks at Twilight with a grateful look.

Sonic Comet: Thank you Twilight, it really means a lot to me.

Twilight then gives him a smile before having an idea.

Twilight Sparkle: How about a walk around town? We need to get your school supplies.

Sonic was then confused by this.

Sonic Comet: School supplies?

Twilight Sparkle: Yeah, so you can go to school.

This only served to make the poor colt even more confused.

Sonic Comet: (Thinking) What the hell is a school? (Out of Thoughts) What is Twilight School?

Twilight smiled at him before answering.

Twilight Sparkle: It's a place you go to learn things like reading and writing. Didn't that exist in your time?

Sonic Comet: Nop. We learned to read and write and were taught at home.

Sonic then speaks a little excited and curious.

Sonic Comet: But I'd love to see what this school thing is like.

Twilight Sparkle: Perfect.

She and the foal then exit the library onto the busy street. Sonic tried to pay close attention to the path as he stayed close to Twilight. Soon the two entered a feather shop and were greeted by a white stallion with a black mustache.

His name was Pencil Paper, he was an Earth pony with a black mane and tails, brown eyes and white fur like paper, he had a mustache on his face and his Cutie Mark was a pencil writing on a notebook sheet.

When he saw the two Pencils, he understood them with a smile.

Pencil Paper: Twilight Sparkle, my number one customer, how can I help you on this beautiful day?

Twilight returns the smile before answering.

Twilight Sparkle: Good morning Pencil, I'm here to pick up some school supplies for my little friend here.

She then looked at Sonic who gave Pencil a nod who returned the gesture with a smile.

Pencil Paper: Well, I think I have exactly what you need right here. How about a starter kit?

Twilight Sparkle: Really great.

Pencil then studly bent down behind the counter and pulled out a set of 5 pencils, 2 boxes of colored pencils and a brand new notebook.

Pencil Paper: It's five Bits.

Twilight then paid the stallion and left the shop with the young Pegasus close behind. Sonic then heard his stomach growl before he blushed in embarrassment and Twilight smiled at the sight of it.

Twilight Sparkle: Looks like someone is hungry.

The two then trotted to a restaurant and sat down at a table. Sonic looked at the menu trying to imagine what kind of foods those described were, he didn't know them, but to this day there was nothing he didn't like and running his eyes over the letters he saw something he was familiar with.

Twilight Sparkle: What do you feel like eating?

Sonic Comet: How about an Apple Pie? That's what seems most familiar to me.

The two soon made their orders and were already eating, Sonic tasted the Pie and soon surrendered to her flavors, it was really tasty, apparently being trapped in a crystal for a thousand years had increased his appetite. Sonic then stopped eating kind of suddenly, he then lifted his head and looked around and his big ears that were standing up seemed to look for the sound of something and that caught Twilight's attention.

Twilight Sparkle: How are you, Sonic?

Sonic Comet: I'm not sure... But I know something is wrong.

Sonic Comet will then sniff the air and its ears will focus in one direction. He then spoke with a serious look.

Sonic Comet: There's... There's a fire going on...

Twilight was confused by this and looked at him.

Twilight Sparkle: A fire? Like this-

She barely had time to finish talking when a blue mare with a rainbow mane stopped in front of them panting and spoke in a rather worried tone.

Rainbow Dash: Oh, thanks to Luna! There you are Twilight!

Twilight had never seen Rainbow so worried since the Best Flyer in Equestria competition.

Twilight Sparkle: What's wrong Rainbow?

Rainbow Dash: Sugarcube Corner is on fire!

Twilight's eyes narrowed at Pegasus' words. Twilight quickly paid the bill and ran to the bakery with Rainbow Dash, Sonic Comet was right behind them.

At Sugarloaf Corner, a crowd of worried ponies had gathered around the burning building. The trio trotted over to a pale blue mare with a pink mane and a mustard yellow stallion.

Twilight Sparkle: Mr and Mrs Cake are you ok?

Ms. Cake: We're fine, but Pinkie and the babies are still there!

Twilight and Rainbow looked at each other in shock upon hearing this.

Mr. Cake: The Fire Ponies said they said it's still too hot in there to go in and by the time they do it will be too late!

Sonic then looked at the burning building before earning a determined look on his face.

Sonic Comet: Then I have to go fast!

The ponies looked on in shock as the blue-haired foal charged towards the burning building. A line of ponies in firefighting uniforms blocked his path. Sonic Comet quickened his pace but still not using his powers, slipped past one of them before entering the bakery. Sonic Comet plunged headlong into the fiery inferno, much to Twilight's dismay.

The foal made his way between the walls of flames before looking around.

Sonic Comet: Is anyone there?

He yelled as he reached the kitchen and heard a loud thud coming from the upper level. Sonic ran up the stairs and broke down the door. He looked around to see an overturned foal cradle. He heard a series of loud coughs coming from the other room. Sonic Comet quickly ran inside to see a medium-sized bed and a pink tail sticking out of it. The running foal ran to the side of the bed and picked her up on her front hooves.

He looked down to see a pink mare, Pinkie who was nearly unconscious with two babies, a unicorn and a Pegasus at her side. He grabbed the mare and laid her on her back. He then placed the two babies on the back of his head and slowly began to walk out of the burning store. The babies held Sonic's mane and watched in wonder as Sonic darted through the fire or created small gusts of wind to ward off the raging red flames that had destroyed their home. Outside, the crowd of ponies was wild with worry, especially Twilight.

Twilight had just explained the situation to the rest of her friends who had just arrived as she panicked herself.

Applejack: You mean Pinkie is still there?!

Twilight Sparkle: Yes! And Sonic Comet just walked in after her!

Twilight then looked at the burning house, worry took over her and she had decided to go in after him.

Twilight Sparkle: I'm going in!

The rest of the girls held her back so she wouldn't go crazy and make things worse. Rarity then pointed at the burning building.

Rarity: What is that?

The ponies squinted and saw that there was a blue mane moving among the red flames. Soon her owner appeared at a window and the crowd saw the yellow foal. The group watched in amazement as the foal emerged from hell with an unconscious pink mare on its back along with two baby foals clutching its mane. Sonic watched the situation calmly, he couldn't go back, his only chance now was to jump out the window and try to land safely on the ground. He grabbed a chair and threw it at the window, breaking it, then he set Pinkie on her back as the two babies clung to his mane.

Sonic Comet then ran to the window and passed through it, the crowd below gave a startled gasp when they saw him do this, he then spread his big wings and soared to land on the ground taking care not to let anyone fall.

The six mares ran to him, lifted Pinkie off his back, and laid her on the ground. Twilight looked at Sonic Comet in amazement as he continued to stare into the fire. Sonic then turned his gaze to Twilight to see her looking at him with a mixture of concern, surprise and anger, he then gave a shy smile as he scratched the back of his head.

Sonic Comet: It was close, right?

Twilight Sparkle: Was it close? That was close?! THAT WAS CLOSE?!

Twilight then walked up to him clattering her hooves. Sonic then closed his eyes and lowered his head waiting for the scolding that would come next, but it never came. He opened his eyes to see Twilight hugging him.

Twilight Sparkle: You really scared me young man! What would I do if you got hurt or worse?!

Sonic finally realized that she really was worried about him and lowered his head feeling guilty about it.

Sonic Comet: I'm sorry...

Twilight Sparkle: Promise me.

Sonic Comet: Huh?

Twilight Sparkle: Promise me you'll never do something dangerous like this again.

Sonic then gives an awkward smile.

Sonic Comet: I can't promise this, but I promise I'll try and I'll be more careful.

Twilight then nodded to him more calmly that he was okay. They then turned to see the Cakes who were holding their foals and helping Pinkie to a seat. The pink mare sat up as she rubbed her head and coughed a little.

Pinkie Pie: Ouch *cough* What happened?

Rainbow Dash: The bakery caught fire with you in it, but Sonic Comet saved you and the babies.

Pinkie suddenly walked over to Sonic Comet and hugged him tightly while having a smile on her face.

Pinkie Pie: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sonic Comet: You're welcome.

After they broke the embrace the rest of the mares approached him.

Rarity: Honey, how did you do that?

Sonic Comet: This what?

Rainbow Dash: How did you being a colt manage to carry Pinkie and the babies like it was nothing and still jump out of a window on the third without getting hurt?

Sonic then stopped to think for a moment, he remembered his uncle telling him to hide his "unique abilities" from others as it could bring unwanted attention, he then spoke normally.

Sonic Comet: Before I was trapped in the crystal, I used to help Bucky in the orchard, I used to pull a lot of weight, I think that's why Pinkie didn't seem so heavy. Also, I've been in similar situations and much worse.

Before more questions could be asked the fire ponies arrived to put out the fire, the Mane 6 watched for a while before they took Pinkie and the Cakes to the hospital to see if everything was ok, on the way Applejack pondered what the Pegasus had said. , she could feel that this name "Apple Bucky" was familiar to her and how would it not be since they had the same first name. Applejack wondered if maybe Sonic had known one of her ancestors but she could think about that another time.

Soon...

Sonic was seen sitting on a hospital bed while a doctor examined him, but the delay was making the foal impatient.

Sonic Comet: Twilight, I already told you I'm fine. I really need to take an exam.

Twilight Sparkle: But of course. And if you've had a burn and it gets infected and you have to have surgery and then...

Twilight at this point started to give several examples as she became more and more worried, until Applejack caught her attention.

The doctor then finished Sonic's exams and took out a clipboard while taking some notes.

Twilight Sparkle: So doctor, is he okay?

The Doctor then walks up to Sonic and places the hoof on his head.

Doctor Horse: This little boy has an iron health.

The doctor is then seen giving Pinkie an examination to see if she is okay. He soon finishes and the Mane 6 looks at him worriedly.

Fluttershy: How is she doctor?

Doctor Horse: Pinkie will be fine. She has a small burn on her left front hoof, but other than that it won't be a big problem, other than that she's perfectly fine.

Pinkie Pie: And the twins?

Doctor Horse: The little ones are fine, not even a scratch. It's a good thing Sonic Comet saved them, otherwise things could have been a lot worse.

Sonic Comet upon hearing this gave a happy smile before scratching the back of his head embarrassed that everyone was looking at him.

Sonic Comet: It was nothing.

After Sonic, Pinkie and the twins were released, Twilight and the foal said goodbye to the others and went on their way, as they walked Sonic noticed that Twilight was looking at him with a mixture of curiosity and concern, so he decided to ask her why.

There were several students in the place, some playing or talking to each other, Sonic then felt himself being watched, Pegasus' eyes quickly ran all over the place, he could see three fillies his age watching him from afar and when they realized that he had seen him looking away.

One of the fillies was a white unicorn with a light gray fur, a curly mane that was a gray mulberry with a light grayish pink, light harlequin eyes, the other was a pegasus with a tan orange fur, a moderate purple mane and tail, and had glowing purple eyes and the third foal was an earth pony with glowing orange eyes, a pale yellow coat, a bright red amaranth mane and tail, and a light crimson bow on her head, and none of the three fillies had a Cutie Mark. .

Sonic's eyes went back to roaming the place and he spotted two fillies looking at him with flashy looks, The first filly had bright cornflower blue eyes, a light grayish-violet mane with white streaks, she had a light magenta coat and her Cutie Mark was a tiara. She was also wearing a gray tiara on her head. The second filly that was beside her had moderate violet eyes, a bluish-grey coat, a mane that was two shades of light bluish-grey, and her Cutie Mark was a fancy spoon with a heart. She also wore pale opal glasses and a necklace.

Sonic noticed the looks on their faces and decided they were definitely going to be a problem, he decided to ignore them and go back to Twilight. He soon found her talking to a mare. She had harlequin green eyes, moderate cherry fur, pink mane and tail in two shades of light and dark and her Cutie Mark were three smiley face flowers.

Twilight smiled at the sight of Sonic.

Twilight Sparkle: Sonic, there you are. Come, I want you to meet someone.

Sonic then walks over to Twilight's side.

Twilight Sparkle: Sonic is Cheerilee, your new teacher.

Sonic then looks at Cheerilee and she does the same.

Twilight Sparkle: Cheerilee this is Sonic Comet.

Cheerilee gave Sonic a smile and extended her hull to greet him.

Cheerilee: Nice to meet you Sonic.

Pegasus then extends its hoof and returns the greeting with a happy smile.

Sonic Comet: The pleasure is all mine Miss Cheerilee.

He then gains a curious and excited look.

Sonic Comet: But when do I start studying?

Twilight and Cheerilee smiled at the boy's excitement.

Cheerilee: Tomorrow, classes start at 7:30 and go until 11:30.

Sonic Comet: That's all? All is well then.

Twilight and Sonic then head for the exit, but not before Sonic says goodbye to his teacher.

The rest of the day was spent with Twilight introducing Sonic to the rest of town. At dusk, the two were already back in the library. As they entered Sonic noticed that everything was pitch black. The lights then came on to reveal that there were several ponies in the place.

Crowd: SURPRISE!

Sonic jumped in shock and confusion at this.

Sonic Comet: Jeez, what the hell is that?

Pinkie then trotted up to him with a smile on her face.

Pinkie Pie: It's your surprise party. You're suprised?

Sonic Comet: For a change.

The party started and despite everything being new to Sonic Comet he was really having fun and after lots of jokes and conversations he started to feel tired. The ponies left and only Sonic, Twilight and Spike were left in the library.

Sonic Comet: That was fun *yawn*

Twilight Sparkle: Looks like someone is sleepy.

Sonic Comet: Oh no, I can stay up the rest of the night-

Twilight then heard a snoring noise and looked back to see that Sonic had just fallen asleep sitting up while snoring and talking.

Sonic Comet: *snorts* I'll see the sunshine... *snorts *I want a Donut... *snorts *...

Spike, seeing this, tries to hold back not to laugh, Twilight gives a small smile to see him sleeping and catches him with her magic, she takes him to her room and puts him on the bed. Twilight then sees a sheet of paper on Sonic's bedside table, that was his list of things, the mare takes the list and reads it until she finds something that caught her eye.

"Making new real friends".

Twilight Sparkle: Making real new friends.

Twilight looks at Sonic sleeping and gives him a gentle smile.

Twilight Sparkle: You'll have all the time in the Sonic world.

She then walks to the door and before walking past her Twilight looks back at the foal.

Twilight Sparkle: Good night Sonic.

She then hears a small, almost inalienable whisper.

Sonic Comet: *whisper* Good night mom...

Twilight blinks in surprise at this, she then gains a calmer expression as she thinks what she heard was all in her head. She then closes the door while little Pegasus travels into the dream world.
