Chapter Two

Sophia's P.O.V

As soon as the last bell rang for us to leave school I ran to the parking lot and jumped in my car. I've never been late for work and I don't plan on it now. All I have to do is call my boss and tell her that I'll be coming into work a little late because of family issues, I'm sure she'll understand.

"Hey Margret I'm going to be coming into work a little bit late can you tell Lily or Tracie to cover my shift, please? Thank you so so much." I whined and started my car and heading home.

Anxious is what I was speeding through the streets. When I finally got into the driveway of my house, I parked my Jeep but left my doors unlocked with my keys inside.

It was a dumb idea but, nobody is gonna steal my car.

I burst through the front door and noticed that my parents weren't home. Wow, are you kidding me?

"Mom, dad!" My voice echoed through the house. "In the kitchen!" My mom called out.

I walked into the kitchen and saw my mom, dad, and a man who looked about my dad's age sitting at the dining room table. I stared at them for a minute questioning what I was doing here.

"Soph, hun have a seat please." My dad gestured. I took a seat next to my mother not losing eye contact with the unknown man sitting in front of me. It was quiet for a good five minutes until I became anxious

"You're not sending me off to boarding school are you?"

"No, hun you're not going to boarding school." My dad and his friend chuckled. My mom remained quiet and kept a stern face.

"Soph, this is Sean Reed... " My dad began and stopped in the middle of his sentence. This can't be good.

"Sophia remember when we told you that Stassie ran away? Well, that's not exactly what happened." Yeah, no shit Sherlock.

"Continue." I gestured with my hands. "Soph, look we can't afford to take of you, we can barely afford to keep this house. Stacie didn't runaway went sent her away. She has a better life now and she's happily married-."

"Married?! For goodness sake she's just turned 16 are you sick? And what do you mean you can't afford to take care of me? I have a job I can take care of myself !" I yelled.

I figured that she didn't run off but, I didn't know that my parents forced her to marry some freak.

"Sophia, we have no choice. You'll have a better life you'll be happy and you won't ever have to worry about a thing." My dad cooed.

"What do you mean 'have a better life'? What you're gonna make me marry some random too?" I wanted to pull my hair out at this very moment.

"Yes, you'll be set to marry Mr. Reed's third oldest son, Damon Reed." My dad put his hands together and tried to hide his smirk.

So he thinks this is funny?

"Damon Reed, the gang leader of the Wolves? Are you out of your mind's? That's the worst gang in town, I won't even live to see my 20s, and what about school? What about my job? Am I supposed to throw that all away for some thug?"

I was literally on the verge of having an anxiety attack but I kept cool.

"You can still go to school but you won't be working. You won't have to work a day in your life and plus you'll have your sister so you'll be fine, but you will be meeting Damon, he said he'll see you when he sees you." Sean replied.

"I have to pack now? Are you kidding me I barely even know this Demon Reed." I bickered. "It's Damon, Soph." My mom finally spoke which sent me into even more rage.

"Demon, Damon I don't give a damn. He might as well be fucking demon since he wants to marry a fucking kid!" I yelled opening the front door.

"He's gonna love her," Sean mumbled to my dad. I want to stand in the middle of the street and hope to get hit by a car.

I got back into my Jeep and sped off down the road. I can't wait to tell Tracie what just happened.

Chandler's Bakery

"They what!?" Tracie yelled earning a few stares from customers. "I'm so pissed off, he's a murderer, he's a thug," I complained.

I wanted to break down into tears but, believe it or not, I've been in worse situations than this.

"Oh, good you're here, I need you to go serve Mr. Reed, he's outside." My boss Margret sighed in relief.

"What!? He's here? This is too much, Tracie you do it." I pointed, now I'm really about to freak out.

"Sweetheart, I know you're terrified of him, trust me we all are, but I need you to do it because I asked you to and if you do it I'll add eight dollars to your paycheck." Margret bribed.

She's probably not going to add the eight dollars but I might as well get it over with since I have to live with him.

"Fine, what does he want?" I breathed out. "Here, he just wants an iced coffee." Margret handed me the tray as I walked outside giggling.

What criminal drinks iced coffee? He must be different I guess.

I looked at his name on the billing check even though I knew it was Damon, I just had to be sure. His name really makes my blood boil.

"Here's your iced coffee, Demon," I said with an attitude walking back towards the entrance. "Aren't you supposed to ask if that would be all?" He replied,

I turned around and lifted my left eyebrow.

"Well, is that all you want?" I asked folding my arms across my chest. "Have a seat, Sophie." He gestured for me to sit in front of him.

" why?"

"Because I said so, now sit." He demanded.

I casually walked back to his table and sat across from him. "It's Sophia, by the way," I informed, he shrugged and sat back in his seat. "You called me Demon, the same thing."

"Actually, it isn't because you're actually a demon and me, I'm an angel." I was in no mood to talk to him whatsoever.

"Yeah, we'll see how much of an angel you really are." He winked. Ew, that was just plain disgusting.

"When is your shift over?" He asked.

"In about 2 hours, it would have 3 but my parents and your dad ambushed me," I replied.

"Your parents only want what's best for you. You should be thankful, your situation could have been worse if we didn't step in and help." Damon added.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I pondered.

"Ask questions when we get home, I'll be in the black Jaguar over there across the street." He pointed out.
He handed me the check and stood up from the table.

"Here's your tip and the iced coffee is really disgusting by the way. You might want to add ice to it if it's iced coffee." He laughed.

"If it's so disgusting then why did you give me a tip, let alone pay for it?" I scoffed.

"I only ordered it because you were here and I told the manager that I wanted you to serve it to me. I don't drink iced coffee, it's nasty." He confessed.

"Iced coffee is amazing, well only if I make it, but whatever tickles your peach I guess."

"Get back inside princess. You're making me cringe." He said walking across the street.

I'm making you cringe? Okay.

For some odd reason, I couldn't take my eyes off him. I mean he's obviously gorgeous but that doesn't change the fact that I have to marry him.

I walked back into the bakery as stares from the customers beamed on me like a spotlight.

"So, is it true? You're marrying him?" Margret blurted out loud. Sending the customers into a frenzy of whispers.

"Shh, today is my last day working here too," I replied sarcastically, grabbing the tip that Damon gave me out of my pocket.

125 dollars? what the hell? There's a difference between typing money and overdoing it. Damon was definitely overdoing it.

"You're so lucky, he's so... yum." Margret sighed. "He's the gang leader of the Wolves. Yeah, he may be attractive but he's crazy." I reminded.

"Sophia he may be a bad person, but he can also be good. I get it you're a minor and all, but you're probably getting hitched for a good reason. So take a deep breath and try to adjust to this new life your about to start." Margret stated.

"Better yet, here go home and relax ok. Just try to get to know him." Margret handed me my check and gave me a hug.

I glanced down at my feet and walked out of the bakery. I've officially reached my breaking point and began to cry.

I stood in front of the bakery, contemplating whether I should runway or not.

Text Message:

Unknown: Don't even think about it, get in the car.

How did this freak even get my-, nevermind? I guess I'll have my dad pick up my car.

I ran across the street and opened the car door without a word. I just sat with my arms folded.
"Don't do that," Damon spoke.

I glanced at him in curiosity. "Don't what? I have every right to have an attitude, my life has completely turned to bullshit. I don't even know you, I know I'm not the nicest person in the world but I don't deserve this."

"Do you believe Stassie wanted this too?" Damon interjected.

I shook my head and looked back at my feet, I hated him and I was disappointed in my parents for doing this to me.

Damon tilted my chin towards him and gazed into my eyes and took off his sunglasses.

Get your rat hands off me or else...

"I'll explain why your parents want you with me when we get home." He started his car and looked over at me one last time before I spoke again.

"I didn't pack my things, I need my clothes." I breathed out.

"I have brand new clothes at my house or should I say our house. Everything you need is there and before you try to add on, I know everything about you, you might not know me but I know you, sit back and put your seat belt on." Damon replied.

I did as I was told and looked out the window and took one last look at the bakery that I've worked at for a year and a half. Goodbye
