Rafe Cameron

"let me make this up to you"

------

Y/n pov:

I was hanging out at Sarah's house. We were in her room, talking about everything that came to mind. We have been friends ever since we were little and we basically grew up together. Our families have also been friends forever so we became really close really quickly. And ever since Sarah started to hang out with the pogues, John B, Kiara, JJ and Pope, they've also become my fast friends.

Our talk quickly came to boys. Sarah blabbered on and on about how good it is going with John B now that he lives with Sarah and basically everyone knows about their relationship.

"It's much better now that we don't have to hide. Although it sure was mysterious at the start" she said, letting out a laugh.

I smiled at her "oh yeah, Vlad and Valerie. I remember when you got home and called to me and you told me everything about your little adventure"

She looked at me and rolled her eyes. "So romantic" I continued in the girliest voice I could which made us both laugh.

"Oh speaking of boys, maybe you should check on Rafe" Sarah popped up surprisingly.

I crossed my eyebrows at her. "Rafe? Why do I need to check on him?"

"He's just still selling Barry's stuff. You know, cocaine. And he has been a little on the edge lately" she said, sighing.

"Okay but what does that have to do with me" I shook my head.

Sarah shot me smirk: "I just think he might listen to you rather than his own little sister" she said as she nudged my elbow.

I shook my head at her, laughing. Sarah knows that I've had a major crush on Rafe ever since we were little and I started hanging out at the Cameron's house. As Rafe got older I tried to push my feelings away while I saw what kind of a person he really was. A liar. A thief. But I couldn't help it. I still saw Rafe as that cute, kind boy that we was when he was still around fifteen years old and was following the right crowd. Ah, don't girls just love a bad guy, huh?

I made my way down the stairs to the front door of Sarah's house and I saw Rafe standing by his motorcycle, looking like he was just about to sniff some lines. As he heard the footsteps he raised his head to look at me. He gave me a little smile as I walked over to him.

"Hi Rafe" I said, standing next to his motorcycle.

"Hey y/n, what's up?" he said, surprisingly happy.

I shrugged my shoulders and he turned his head away from me. I was about to say something more but I got cut off by someone yelling.

"You guys gon' give me a bump big boy? Y/n?!" It was Barry. He looked even more messed up than he usually was, his hair all sweaty as he wandered closer to us.

"Man check out this place, though, huh?" he continued, mockingly. "It's fancy! It's a nice place to live. And you even got your little bitch here"

I shook my head at Barry and I exhaled sharply. My anger was building up but I noticed that this probably wasn't the best time to start a fight.

I noticed Rafe's panicking look and I took a step back. Rafe tried to talk but he ended up stuttering and repeating himself.

"Hey Barry, Barry. Listen man, I don't have your money. Alright, you shouldn't be here now. What are you doing?" Rafe spoke. At this point, Barry was right at Rafe's face, angrily looking up at him.

I glared at the two guys next to me. "What is going on?" I quietly said, looking up at Rafe, who just kept his eyes on Barry.

"I'm right here, you wanna know why?" Barry continued.

Rafe shook his head as he shut his eyes tightly. "Give me until the weekend, okay? All I need you to do is front me more coke. I got a guy coming in this weekend." Rafe said, almost whispering his words. "It's cool, right?"

Barry didn't bother to answer to Rafe. He just nodded and hummed along to what he was saying. It's like he had heard those words a thousand times before.

After a few seconds, Barry spoke up: "How come you got all this nice shit, though? Can you tell me that? You ain't got my money but you got all this nice shit!" he said, almost yelling right at Rafe's face. Rafe sniffed as he kept quiet.

In a blink, Barry tried to punch Rafe in the face but Rafe took a step back. "Hey chill, man!" Rafe yelled, scared of what would happen next.

Barry shook his head before dragging Rafe by his arm, closer to the motorcycle. Roughly, he placed Rafe's hand on the boiling hot tail pipe.

"Barry, stop! You piece of shit!" I yelled at Barry as I grabbed his back and I yanked him away from Rafe, who immediately fell to the ground, groaning in pain, looking at his now bright red hand. A few tears started to form in my eyes. I didn't know if I should cry because of how angry I was at Barry or how worried I was about Rafe.

"How does that feel?! That's just the coming attractions big boy" Barry shouted, getting on Rafe's motorcycle.

"Consider this shit right here your down payment" he continued, starting the engine and completely ignoring me and Rafe.

"You got three days." That was the last thing he said before he drove away on Rafe's motorcycle.

I kneeled down next to Rafe and I took a look at his hand. "That's definitely a 3rd degree burn. We gotta get you to the hospital"

"I don't give a shit about what degree it is, okay! It just- burns like hell!" he shouted, changing looks between me and his hand. I flinched back at his actions.

"I'm fucking okay! Just- no hospital!"

I rolled my eyes at him. "Well we need to do something about that hand" I muttered.

Rafe crossed his eyebrows in confusion. I shook my head at him and I offered my hand for him to take. He hesitated a bit before he took his hand in mine and I helped him stand up.

I led him inside to his house and to the kitchen. Since I've known The Cameron's for a long time now, I know my way around their house as well.

Now, Rafe was sanding in front of the kitchen sink as I opened the faucet and let water pour out. Rafe put his hand underneath the faucet and flinched a little as the cold water touched his burned skin.

I stood next to Rafe. "Feeling better?" I said, looking up at him. He looked at me and shook his head yes. "Yeah, thanks" he said, as he shot me a weak smile which I responded to with a nod.

I thought about walking away for a second but then my curiosity kicked in. "I don't know if I should ask but, why was Barry so aggressive?" I said, crossing my eyebrows in confusion. Rafe sniffed as he focused his look on his red hand again. It almost seemed like he was ashamed to answer the question.

"I uh- I was just late on my payment for him." he said, shaking his head. A few tears started to form in his eyes.

I looked him dead in the eye. "You're still dealing weed?"

Rafe nodded at my comment. "Yeah, but I'm not the boss of me. Barry is."

"Yeah, I got that part" I nodded my head.

Rafe didn't bother to look up at me. He could sense I was sad. A little disappointed even. "Look I know this looks really bad right now and everything but I'm trying to get my shit together, okay?"

"Yeah" I shook my head. "Sure you are"

Rafe took me by the hand and pulled me a little bit closer. "Look, let me make this up to you"

A smirk entered my face. "Make this up to me? It's Barry that you owe it to"

"Go on a date with me" he blurted out. "This Saturday." My eyes widened the second he said that. On a date with him? My heart was pounding in my chest. My childhood crush actually wanted to take me out on a date.

I shook my head slightly, realizing how close we were at this point. "Yeah, sure. I'd like that" I smiled, trying to sound as relaxed as possible.

"Great" he smiled through his sad expression as he let go of me.

I took a step back and wandered out of the Cameron's house with a huge smile on my face. I couldn't wait until Saturday.
