Amelia's Introductory

Amelia grew up with optimistic parents. They did their best to show Amelia that even in a world like the one they lived in, there was always hope. There were always fighters. The world could put you down but there would always be those who fought against it. This world is filled with villains of all kinds, malicious agencies, malevolent people, but Amelia's family was different. They were noble and earnest people. With the powers they were gratified with, they were ready to take on the world one villain at a time. It was glorious, they would put on helmets to mask their identities and they went out adventuring. With Amelia's father having the power of flight, and her mother having the ability of changing the charge of protons and electrons, they were a powerful force to be reckoned with. Her father would carry Amelia's mother and they would go around exploding agency after agency and helping the innocent everywhere and anywhere. Amelia was forced to move quite a bit, but overall it was worth it because Amelia's parents were showing her that she could believe in the term heroes.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Amelia knew the world her family lived in and saw this as her parents risking their lives every day. Amelia didn't understand why they did this, what if they got hurt, what if they died. Who would watch over her and her younger brother? Would that responsibility land on Amelia's shoulders? All Amelia knew is that she wanted her parents to end this charade and just focus on her and her brother. It's not like the world has just as many heroes to villains. Her parents and a few others that would go fight as well were the other ones. In a world full of villains, how were they to stand against them all. At the time, there were no reporting officers but villains agencies did their best to defend this team of heroes. Amelia's parents were smart and determined to make a dent in the Overlord's society. They took agency down after agency, and were holding out strong. Each time Amelia's concern grew. By age 14, Amelia was defiant against their hero work, but her younger brother was all about it. He saw what their parents were doing as an act of righteousness and wanted to be just like them. Amelia tried to convince her younger brother that he shouldn't encourage them.

Amelia's parents effortlessly tried to get Amelia to understand their perspective. One night they were preparing for a stealth mission and were having a talk with Amelia.

"Listen Cami, I don't know why you're so against us, but if you could just come with us on this next mission, you'll see what we mean. You'll see what we fight for." Amelia's father told her.

"You really don't know why I don't like all this hero stuff? It's because you're risking your life!" Amelia yelled.

"Well.. that's part of the gig." Amelia's mother told her.

"Then why do it, if you know that anything could happen?!" Amelia shouted.

"Because if we don't fight against this tyrant Overlord then who will? If we stop fighting then everyone in our society will just give up and accept the society we live in." Amelia's father explained.

"And what's wrong with it, the only time people are fighting is when you guys provoke them?? These agencies wouldn't mess with us, if you would just stop fighting them??" Amelia told them. Amelia's mother and father looked at each other and turned back to Amelia.

"You don't see it yet because you're young but when you grow up and these villain agencies don't rule the world, you'll be thanking us." Amelia's father concluded.

"But please will you just come with us on this mission, it's a real easy one, we're just going to get some information from a small agency and then get out of there?" Amelia's father asked her.

"I'm not supporting you guys in a cause that's pointless." Amelia said frustratedly. However, just then her younger brother Raymond came in, he was only a year younger than Amelia.

"Ooo can I come!? Can I come?! I'd love seeing you guys fight off villains!" Raymond said over ecstatic.

Amelia's mother and father looked at Raymond.

"But you've seen us in action plenty of times?" Amelia's mother asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.

"I know, you guys look so cool while doing it, so why not come see you do it again?!" Raymond asked.

"Hmm... how about we let you fight with us this time?" Amelia's father suggested.

"What?!" Amelia said, heavily concerned.

"Are you sure about this?" Amelia's mother whispered to Amelia's father.

"It's a stealth mission, he probably won't have to fight anybody." Amelia's father whispered back.

"Wait hold on! You can't actually let him fight with you guys! I was already against him coming to watch you guys before, but I will not let him fight! I won't allow it!" Amelia detested.

"Cami, we're your parents. If he wants to come, we'll take him and let him fight. Besides we protected him before when he was watching, he'll be fine now." Amelia's father explained.

"No! I'm not letting it happen! He's not going!" Amelia cried out.

"Ok ok, fine. He'll stay." Amelia's mother finally agreed.

"Awee, what? Wait to go Camelia!" Raymond said storming off to his room.

"I'll go talk to him." Amelia's father said as he left the room. It was just Amelia and her mother left in the room.

"Cami please, will you just come watch us? At least do it for your little brother." Amelia's mother pleaded.

"I just don't understand what the big deal is?? You guys are risking your lives over nothing!? There are only a handful of heroes, villains will continue to keep coming. You're fighting the inevitable." Amelia said.

"But see Cami, that's where you're wrong. We're giving people hope, we're giving people a chance to believe in something. A better society, one where heroes can exist and fight off the villains of this society." Amelia's mother admitted.

"It just doesn't make any sense." Amelia declared getting even more flustered as she crossed her arms.

"Fine.. come watch us, and you'll see what we mean. And if you still feel the same way, your father and I will stop being heroes." Amelia's mother stated.

"Wh- wait what? Are you serious?" Amelia softened.

"Yes. If you and your brother come with us tonight, we'll show you what we mean. I feel confident that we'll change your mind for the better." Amelia's mother told her as she hugged Amelia.

"Fine.." Amelia conceded.

"Now come on, let's go get ready." Amelia's mother told Amelia as they informed Amelia's father and brother the decision that was made. They all got ready and left for the stealth mission.

Later that night they headed out, and thanks to her fathers ability, he flew them out to the location spot.

"Here Amelia, we got you these. You'll be our lookout, and your brother will be coming with us." Amelia's father said as he gave her some binoculars. They weren't too far from the location they were fixing to enter. Amelia was left on a hillside while the others went down to go investigate the smaller building. They had some modified radios. They have Amelia one before leaving, that way Amelia could tell if anything bad was going to happen. This also helped inform their teammates as well. Amelia grabbed the binoculars and held the radio beside her as she saw her family and a couple other heroes get closer to the designated target that was the building itself.

Things seemed to be going well, they snuck into the building by their own means. They worked cooperatively like a sound unit. Amelia would be lying if she wasn't a little impressed. She could see through the windows the stealth they were exhibiting. They each were taking down a member and ensuring that they stayed unconscious. Unfortunately, Amelia noticed something... people in the basement area were moving around like crazy. Amelia didn't know what was going on exactly. She did report to them what she could see.

"Umm, mom, dad. There's a lot of movement going on downstairs in what looks like a basement?" Amelia whispered in.

"That's what we're looking for, thanks Cami." Amelia's father quickly chimed in.

Amelia could see that they were fixing to enter in.

"Wait, something doesn't feel right? Don't go i-" Amelia tried to tell them before they busted into the basement area and explosions and gunfire was shot off. All sorts of electrical blasts and gusts of wind were fired away from inside the basement. Amelia had no idea what was going on; she immediately yelped as she heard tons of noise come from the building. She reported to the other heroes as quickly as she could.

"Please come quick! Anyone! Somethings going on in Teraway City! Please! Anyone!!" Amelia yelled out for help as she ran down the hillside falling along the way. She stumbled and tumbled down until finally meeting the flat ground, she had a couple bruises and scratches. She was afraid and worried for her parents. Her hair was everywhere, her clothes were tattered a bit as she got up and went running along. The other heroes reported back.

"We're on our way! We'll be there soon!" They reported back in.

"Just hurry!" Amelia said as she ran towards the building in tears and blood on her face. She worried for her family, she didn't hear anything from them and only grew more concern. She got closer and closer to the doors before they burst open with a loud bang. She fell back a few away and looked up to see a legion of what looked like soldiers or policemen of some kind.

"The plan worked efficiently my lord. The heroes have been terminated. Waiting for the others to show up now sir." One of the officers reported.

"No." Amelia worded out to herself knowing exactly what the man meant by his statement.

Before she could even get up, the other heroes arrived on the scene immediately attacking the officers.

"Stand down hero! We will use lethal force!" One of the officers shouted.

"What did you do to our teammates!?" One of the hulking heroes demanded.

"All heroes inside the premises have been terminated... and the rest of you are next." The reporting officer said sternly as just then that shot out electric nets to capture the heroes as well as electric bullets to stun them.

Amelia couldn't believe her eyes. These officers weren't here to help, they were here to get rid of the heroes. The officers had weapons that could fend them off these heroes with emasculate abilities. If one of the heroes stopped their first endeavor, the officers had another trick up their sleeve.

Amelia wanted to go in to see her family inside the building but it was already catching fire, before she could even get back up and try and go back inside the entire building hit flashpoint and caused her to fly back even further from the building. Amelia's eyes started pouring as she ran away with the modified radio. She couldn't help but cry while the other heroes were being terminated behind her. She just wanted this all to be over, she wanted a normal life, with parents who weren't heroes, and a brother who didn't encourage their actions. Amelia ran home that night, it was a long run home considering her father initially flew then where they needed to go to. She eventually grew tired and started walking, then started trudging, until eventually she just sat down on the ground and cried. Her mother, father, and little brother: all dead. Just like that, and it was all because they wanted to play dress up and call themselves heroes. Amelia grew a sincere hatred for the word hero as she finally made her way home. Those months were filled with mourning, grief, despair, and hatred. She grew bitter now having to fend off on her own and be faced with the cruel world that awaited her alone.
