~ Thanksgiving Dinner Disaster ~

Yoongi's eyes open suddenly as he was startled awake by a loud clanging sound. He looks over to find that Y/N's not there, then glances at the clock, reading 5:37am. He throws the covers off of himself and races down the stairs to the source of the noise, nearly tripping.

~~~Y/N's POV~~~
Yoongi: "Y/N." I hear Yoongi yell, concern in his voice.
I looked over to him with a smile as I fill a stock pot with water.
Y/N: "Hi, baby."
Yoongi: "What happened? Are you okay? I heard this crash and freaked out when I didn't see you there." He rambles as he walks over, wrapping his arms around me in a back hug.
Y/N: "Yes, everything's fine. I just dropped some pans." I reassure him, turning off the faucet and bringing the pot to the stove and turning the jet on.
Yoongi: "What are you doing up this early anyway?" He asks still not breaking the hug. I turn around in his arms to face him and place my hands gently in his shoulders.
Y/N: "I'm making dinner, silly. Both of our parents are coming over and I just want everything to be perfect."
Yoongi: "It will. Don't worry. And don't work yourself too hard." He says in that knowing voice.
Y/N: "I know, and I won't, but I can't help it. Thanksgiving is a big deal and this year it's with your side and my side of the family. That's like twice the hard work. But..." I trail off a little. Yoongi just gives me that worried face.
Yoongi: "Oh, no. Not that look. I know that look."
Y/N: "It's not that bad this time. I was just going to ask if maybe you wanted to help me." I say with utmost hopefulness in my voice. He lets out an impressively dramatic sigh and throws his head back.
Yoongi: "If you really want me to." He replies dragging his words out like a toddler. He opens one eye just enough to peak at my unmoved expression. I simply laugh at his performance and so does he.
Yoongi: "Of course I'll help you." He says giving me a quick kiss on the forehead.
Yoongi: "What do you need me to do?"
I break the embrace and grab his hand to lead him over to the fridge where I put a list of tasks for the big day. And what a long list it is.
Yoongi: "Wow, that's a lot of stuff." He says in amazement, jaw dropping a bit.
Y/N: "That's why I got started so early." I say with a light-hearted chuckle. Yoongi puts his hands in his hips and stares at the list with his eyebrows scrunched in. Gosh, he's adorable.
Yoongi: "Christmas decorations...?" He questions.
Yoongi: "I suppose I could start there."
Y/N: "Okay. I'll just be prepping the turkey, so let me know if you need anything." I tell him going to grab the bird out of the refrigerator.
A few minutes pass by as I wash the turkey, and I already hear a thud followed by a whimper.
Y/N: "Yoongi!" I yell trying to sit the bird on the counter but fail miserably as it slides out of my hands and onto the floor, gliding across the kitchen tile. I go to pick it up two and even three more times, but it falls each attempt. I decided to let it go for now and tend to my fiancée.
Y/N: "Yoongi!!!" I yell once again rounding the corner.
Yoongi: "Jagiya..." I hear him faintly yell from underneath the catastrophe that is a toppled, six-foot Christmas Tree.
Rushing over to his side, I attempt to pull the admittedly heavy tree off of him. I'm stopped when his right arm grasped one of my hands and his left cupped around my face.
Yoongi: "Jagi, I might not have much time left." He starts, only pausing for a dramatic coughing fit.
Yoongi: "There's a note taped inside the middle drawer on my nightstand. Follow the directions. It'll lead you to my secret estate." He seizes, feigning heart palpitations.
Yoongi: "Tell my parents I love them." He finally says, closing his eyes and letting his tongue slide out the side of his mouth.
I scoff, pout, and fold my arms.
Y/N: "You didn't even say you loved me." I said in the most offended tone I can muster.
The overly dramatic, yet lovable man on the floor wheezes briefly and opens his eyes.
Yoongi: "I love you." He said and placed a kiss on my knuckles before returning to his previous 'dead' position. A few more seconds pass before he opens one eye to peak at my completely unmoved expression, sending both of us into a fit of laughter. He then proceeds to shove the tree off of himself and I help him up.
Yoongi: "I couldn't help but overhear your kitchen debacle. What happened?" Yoongi asks as we walk around the corner into the mentioned room.
Y/N: "Ask the turkey! It kept running away from me." I say slightly upset. He just chuckles and pats my head.
Yoongi: "Well, this has proven to be an interesting morning." He says while scratching the back of his neck.
Yoongi: "Okay, how about I make us some coffee before things get too interesting?"
Y/N: "Now that's a good idea." I say sitting myself on a stool at the island; yawning as I lay my head and folded arms on the surface.
After Yoongi finishes scooping in the coffee grounds, pouring the water, and pressing start, he joins me, mirroring my position on the other stool. We make eye-contact and giggle about absolutely nothing at all moments before we're simultaneously taken out by sleep.
Suddenly, a phone rings. I stir awake and open my eyes to see Yoongi still asleep. He's so cute and peaceful. I pick up the phone and give a very surprisingly groggy hello.
Y/N: "Oh, hey, mom." I say after hearing her voice.
Y/N: "What's up?"
Mom: "I just wanted to ask if you could send us your address again." She replies.
Y/N: "Yeah, sure. It's 030993 Seesaw Drive." I answer between yawns, stretching out my back.
Mom: "Lovely. We'll see you in about five hours. Take care, dear." The woman on the other line says before hanging up.
I put the phone down and rub my eyes. Realization hits in three, two, one...Five hours?! I grab Yoongi's wrist hastily to read his watch. 12:30pm?! I shake my soon-to-be-husband awake.
Y/N: "Yoon? Yoon? Babe?! Wake up!" I say increasing the volume of my voice every time I say his name.
Yoongi: "Yes, jagi?" He says sweetly, still not looking at me.
Y/N: "We fell asleep! Our parents are going to be here in five hours, and nothing is done!"
Yoongi: "There's always next year." He says sarcastically.
Y/N: "Yoon, I'm being serious." I say shaking him by the shoulders.
Yoongi: "I know. I know- Wait. did you say five hours?" He asks, eyes shooting wide open. I nod.
Yoongi: "Nothing is done! How are we gonna-?!"
Y/N: "That's what I was telling you."
The suddenly worked up man pops up from his seat and glides across the tile to get mugs.
Yoongi: "We may have just enough time. Quick. How long does it take to cook a turkey?" He questions while pouring the coffee.
I grab my phone to search.
Y/N: "About twelve to sixteen minutes per pound."
Yoongi: "My brain isn't ready for math yet, but it's a twelve-pound turkey. What's that mean?"
Punching the appropriate numbers into my calculator.
Y/N: "Somewhere around four hours. Give or take."
Yoongi: "Hm, what about the ham?" He asks sliding a full cup of caffeine to me and beginning to chug his.
Y/N: "Nearly five hours." I say with a hint of distain.
Yoongi: "Turkey it is then. You made the stuffing already, right?" I give him a quick nod.
Yoongi: "Okay. If you wanna go ahead and get ready, I'll get the turkey going and maybe, uh..." He pauses to look at the list.
Yoongi: "The black bean jjigae?"
Y/N: "You sure?" I ask, so happy that he'd do this for me.
Yoongi: "Positive. Now, go." He says flitting his hands in a shoving motion.
As soon as I'm done getting dressed, I scramble to the kitchen to check on Yoongi. What a sight to beheld. There's a used fire extinguisher on the island, soup and vegetables all over the floor, and he's covered in flour standing over a mixing bowl.
I clear my throat and lean against the entry frame.
Y/N: "So, how's it going?" I ask trying not to laugh.
Yoongi: "Quite successfully. Can't you tell?" He jokes sarcastically.
Yoongi: "I think I dropped a couple of eggshells into the batter. And my pride."
He then looks at me with that puppy pout before sinking dramatically to the floor. I go to hug him, careful not to get any flour on my clothes, and thank him for trying to cook. Yoongi sighs.
Yoongi: "Okay, I'm gonna go get ready and then buy some dessert and kimchi jjigae."
I reply with a simple, but appreciative 'okay' before starting to clean up. Before I can even attempt to, Yoongi peaks his head around the corner.
Yoongi: "Don't even think about cleaning all this up by yourself." He says followed by a sheepish smile. He grabs two rags and tosses one to me, and before you know it...
~~~Time Skip to 5pm, 1 Hour until Dinner~~~

I'm stringing lights on the base and middle sections of a Christmas tree when I hear the doorbell. Running across the living room, leaping over all of the holiday decoration boxes, I open it, revealing a bunch of grocery bags with legs. I grab as many as possible and drop them on the kitchen counter.

Y/N: "What all did you get? Geez." I say shocked by the number of groceries gotten compared to the actual list.

Yoongi: "I didn't remember what we needed or didn't need, and I forgot to check the list before I left. So, I just got desserts, lots of side dishes, and drinks." He explains out of breath and slouching against the wall.

I open one of the heavier bags and, sure enough, he got drinks.

Y/N: "Okay, but six bottles of wine?" I question him while holding up one of them.

Yoongi: "Hey, I really need a drink, okay?" He says looking like he'd run a marathon.

Yoongi: "Between the kind of day it's been already and the feisty old ladies in the frozen aisle, I deserve one."

Y/N: "Okay, fair. At least the turkey and stuffing worked out." I say emptying the shopping bags and realized I don't smell anything cooking. I glance back over to my fiancée, only to see his panicked expression staring at the oven.

Y/N: "Yoon...?" I ask slowly.

Yoongi: "Uh huh?" He replies.

Y/N: "Did you put the turkey in the oven?"

Yoongi: "Yeah, I did." He says, face never moving.

Y/N: "Did you turn the oven on?" I proceed to ask him.

Yoongi: "Nope."

We both scamper over to the oven to which I drop the door, and gaze in awe at the very raw turkey.

Yoongi: "Okay, we can fix this. This is fixable." Yoongi says in a convincing tone while slipping his phone out of his pocket and typing away.

Yoongi: "We could deep fry it?"

Y/N: "We could deep fry it." I repeat after him.

Yoongi: "Yeah. Yeah, that's good."

Yoongi preps the deep fryer on the front lawn, tosses the bird in, and sets a timer. Meanwhile, I went back to work on two-thirds of a Christmas tree. Yoongi comes into the living room with two full glasses of wine and is absolutely bursting with laughter. I pause with an ornament in my hand.

Yoongi: "What are you doing?" He asks after he calms down a bit, walking towards me.

Y/N: "I'm decorating." I pout.

Yoongi: "What happened to the rest of the tree?" He ponders, handing me one of the glasses.

Y/N: "You know I can't reach that high."

After grazing through many packages, he finds and fixates the top section of the tree.

Before you know it, I'm sitting on his shoulders stringing the rest of the lights. Everything is going well, until... BOOM! I wobble, he falls, we're both sent tumbling to the ground. Waiting a few seconds before getting off the ground, we peaked out the window to see only through fractions of it, as it was covered in stuffing.

We rush out to the lawn, which is completely covered in stuffing and turkey segments. To top it all off, his parents pull into the driveway, followed by my parents. They step out of their respective vehicles and stare awe-stricken at the sight before them. And that's when the timer goes off.

Yoongi collapses dramatically onto the grass, sprawling out.

Yoongi: "Forget it! I'm ordering a pizza!"
