Memorable

I wrote this in one day at a cafe.
I swore I looked like a crazy person with how big I smiled while writing.

Today was Valentine's Day. The district was bustling to sell Valentine's products and decorated everything in pink or red. It was a business opportunity to rip couples with overpriced charges or gain more profits.

Sinclair stood outside the bus alone and sighed. Everyone was busy going out or had their own plan. Vergilius and Charon went out for a fancy dinner. Heathcliff and Ishmael dragged Meursault for shopping. Ryoshu was going out to create "art". Gregor and Rodion scammed a restaurant by pretending to be a couple for a discount. Yi Sang and Faust spoke with the upper high of the company. Outis won a free buffet for two people and asked Dante to join her.

Unfortunately, Dante did not have a mouth. Hong Lu replaced the clock instead.

Sinclair exhaled yet another long breath. It was not like he wanted to have a girlfriend or something. It was impossible to get one, considering the circumstances of his job. The Limbus Company Bus moved from one district to another. Even if Sinclair got a girlfriend, he could not maintain the relationship. Distance would be a problem. He did not even know when he could return to his lover.

For many years in his life, Valentine passed like another day. Sinclair was a coward in his youth. He did not have any courage to invite Demian to his home. Let alone ask out a girl for a date. Besides, Sinclair did not need a lover. He just wanted to create a good memory for once.

He recalled his past when his family was around. His parent would have a romantic date on Valentine's Day and leave the children in the house. On that particular day, Sinclair and his sister found an old gramophone. His sister played a song on it and asked Sinclair to dance with her. They spent the night dancing silly and laughing. His body still remembered the dance lesson he had before. First, take a back step with his left foot. After that, swayed to the right and...

"Nice movement, Sinclair!"

Sinclair screamed. Loudly. He did not expect Don to watch him. "Why are you here? I thought you were going to the Fixer Fans community meeting!"

Her face turned gloomy, and tears swelled in her eyes. "Heard mine tragic story, Sinclair! The meeting was postponed because many members were not coming. Everyone had a date but me!"

"Ouch..." Even Sinclair could feel the emotional damage.

"Forget mine sorrow. I did not know thee could dance so well!"

Sinclair scratched his head. "My family hired a private dancing teacher for me before."

"Sounds delightful. I never had a chance to dance before."

Sinclair looked at her. "Don, you can dance?"

She nodded proudly. "I do! A knight must be talented in it to ask a lady for a dance!"

Sinclair and Don sat on the ground. Both of her arms hugging her knees. She must have been so disappointed about the cancelled event that she remained silent. While Don and Sinclair sat without a word, they heard a piece of music from a distance. Someone out there blasted their speaker for everyone to hear. It even reached the place where Charon parked the bus.

Don turned her head and stared at Sinclair. "Does thou recognize this song?"

He was startled by her question. Sinclair was not aware that he had been humming the song. "Yes. I used to dance to this song with my sister."

Don suddenly stood up with a cheerful face. A strange idea popped up in her mind. "This song is familiar to mine ear as well! Shall we dance?"

Sinclair was perplexed by her suggestion. "In here?"

"No one passes this place at night. Nobody will see us!"

Sinclair looked around his surroundings. Don was right. No one passed that street at night. Everyone gathered in the city. Only the bus member would get back to that place for rest.

Don bowed down to him and offered her hand as if she was a gentleman in a ballroom. "May I have this dance, My Lady?"

Sinclair chuckled and accepted her charming offer. "Sure."

Don touched his hand and was a bit surprised. Sinclair noticed how sweaty his hand was because he was nervous. He panicked and apologized to her. "I-I am sorry! My hand must be wet! Let me wear my gloves first!"

"That's fine! I see no problem in it!" Don put her hand on Sinclair's hand and compared their hand size. "Man's hand truly big, huh?"

Sinclair's heart skipped a beat when their hand touched each other. His reaction was akin to a female teenager than a young man in his twenties. He shook his head and tried to focus on the music.

Their dancing movement was slow and clumsy. Don or Sinclair would step on their partner's feet. They stumbled and almost fell several times. Sinclair finally noticed something strange. "Uuuh, Don? Why did you do the male step?"

Don was as surprised as him. She just realized her dance steps were wrong. "Pardon mine mistake. I never received proper training before and copied what I saw from other people. Therefore, I only knew male step." Her expression became a bit sad. "Perhaps we should quit..."

"Oh, it's all right! I memorize both steps from the dancing lesson. You can do the male step. I'll do the female step. Can you lead me, please?"

Sinclair smiled gently at her. Her cheek flushed when she saw that sweet face. Don replied to him with another bright smile across her round face. "All right! Leave it to me!"

Both of them swapped roles and restarted the dance. Their movement was better than before. Sinclair twirled with graceful steps and followed Don's lead. She caught him in her arms when his back bent. Don held his body tightly to make sure she supported him. Sinclair stared at her eyes when their face was close to one another. They chuckled and continued their slow dance for a few more rounds.

Sinclair finally had a memorable Valentine's Day.

This was supposed to be smut, but my brain gave me this sweet fluffy prompt instead.
Hand holding... Dancing... Dancing role switch... Smiling at each other...
Why my ship is adorable.
