his hand brushed my shoulder as i turned and i smiled at him. he smiled back which made the moment even better.

the music that quietly played in the background suddenly got louder and our bodies got closer. things were starting to move in slow motion as we got closer, and closer. suddenly everything was back to normal when a voice called up the stairs that dinner was ready.

we jumped away from each other at that and finn awkwardly put his finger to his lips. i put my hands on my hips as we both avoided eye contact.

"we should head down." he suggested while pointing to the door.

"yeah, don't want the food to get cold." i said before turning to walk towards the door.

we all sat around the table, mary, eric and nick were across from finn and i. it was a nice dinner, spaghetti which was amazing because i haven't had it in so long and a salad on the side. everyone was talking about their day and how they were super glad to have me as their guest.

"so, how was your christmas nova?" eric asked looking in my direction.

"it was good for a christmas with the lockwoods." i said chuckling a little.

"that's good." mary said sending me a smile.

"so, you have a big family?" nick asked me.

"yeah i have two older brothers, damian and freddy. i think you'd like them." i said with a smile.

"i'll have to meet them then." nick replied also smiling.

"yeah, maybe some time soon." i said nodding.

"i have to meet them first though." finn said joining the conversation.

"like you'd do it, you're probably scared." nick said looking at finn.

"i'm not scared, maybe nervous but not scared." he said before taking a drink of his water.

"i was nervous to meet you guys. i mean i don't meet allot of people so it was kinda new." i said looking around at everyone at the table.

"it's okay to be nervous, it happens to everyone." mary said looking at me with a reassuring smile.

"yeah, nick stop taunting your brother and eat your dinner." eric said looking at nick.

"okay okay, fine." nick said before grabbing his fork and eating his food.

"you'll be fine finn." mary said to him.

"yeah, they're not that scary." i said smiling at him. "they're just people."

"of course." he said smiling at me.

throughout the rest of the dinner i found myself playing with the neckless finn got me a lot. after some time he had noticed and grabbed my hand under the table. i smiled while listening to a story mary was telling.

after dinner i helped wash up the dirty dishes and then went back to finns room. he sat on his bed playing his guitar to the tune of 'say it ain't so' by weezer. i walked over and sat next to him which caused him to stop playing.

"why'd you stop, it was great." i said smiling at him.

"because i wanted to ask you something." he said before seeing his guitar on the other side of him and then turning to face me.

"okay, what's your question?" i asked.

"have you ever met your dad?" he asked with a serious face.

"no, he left my mom before i was born." i said looking down at my hands.

"have you ever thought about meeting him before, like going to find him?" he asked.

"maybe once when i was twelve but not since then." i said more playing with the neckless again.

"so you don't want to meet him?" he asked again.

"i don't know, maybe." i said as i looked up at him. "but i don't know if he even knew about me."

"well, you never know until you try." he said with a small smile.

"i'll think about it, when i do figure out my answer i'll be sure to tell you." i said also giving a small smile.

"good." he said before pulling me into a hug.

finn and i hung out a little longer before eric and mary invited us to play a board game with them. we both agreed and enjoyed the time playing the game of sorry. in my house we don't own board games because they only get ruined by the younger kids and since there are always younger kids, we don't take the risk.

"it was nice of you to come over for dinner nova." mary said with a smile as nick moved his piece around the board.

"it was my pleasure. i seriously enjoyed it, the food was great by the way." i explained with a smile.

"you'll have to come back for dinner again." she said.

"i will, and maybe next time i'll bring my sister. if that's okay with you." i explained.

"that's fine dear, the more the merrier." she said smiling big.

"okay okay, enough. november it's your turn." finn said poking my shoulder.

"okay, i'll go." i said pushing his hand away.

3rd person

as mary and eric watched the to mess with each other from across the table they smiled. they both were happy to see finn so happy and they liked what november was doing to him. she was making him happy and it made them happy.

nick sat beside the two with his head in his hand. he thought about the change in finn and how november had a lot to do with it. he enjoyed the change and having november around but he just didn't get why they haven't started dating yet. he knew he needed a plan and he knew just the person for it.

the two teens sat and bickered over something random while laughing and poking each other. oh how naïve the two were. but their night wasn't over yet. mary had a cake in the oven that neither of the teens knew about and nick had a special guest coming to help out his plan into motion.

november's pov

we finished our game of sorry and mary and eric disappeared into the kitchen while nick went to his room. finn and i stayed downstairs. we both sat on the couch where he pulled his phone out to show me a video.

"hey finn." i said after the video ended.

"what?" he asked looking away from his phone.

"thanks for everything today. it's been great." i said while reaching for the neckless and playing with it.

"you're welcome november." he said with a smile.

i smiled back before wrapping my arms around him. he wrapped his arms around my waist and i put my head on his shoulder. this is the first time in months that i got that feeling in my stomach that made me want to scream. but it also made me happy.

suddenly there was a knock on the door. finn slowly pulled away from me and stood up. he got up and walked to the door. i heard it open and then an unfamiliar voice. "what's up finn!" the voice exclaimed.

"hey quincy." finn said before i heard the door shut and finn come into view with a guy with blonde hair beside him

i got up and walked over to finn and smiled at the guy. "who's this?" he asked looking at me.

"this is my friend november. november this is quincy a good friend of me and my brother." finn introduced.

"hi, don't listen to finn, it's just nova." i said smiling a little before nick walked up.

"hey dude." he said as he did his thing with quincy.

i looked over at finn nervously even though not long ago i told him that you shouldn't be nervous about meeting people. it was just something about quincy that seemed so familiar.

"well nova, if you want a real introduction to this trio you shall follow me to where we engage in our mediocre gaming." quincy said waving for finn and i to follow.

'don't do it.' finn mouthed you me. i just chuckled and went to follow nick and quincy.

"you made the right choice fellow star." quincy said as we raced up the stairs.

"you can't just take my friend like that!" finn called from behind us.

"she our friend too dude, we're brothers, we share everything." nick said as we reached our destination.

"not really." finn said finally catching up to us.

"this room looks..." i started but stopped as i looked around. "sick."

"i know, it has to look cool if we spend so much time here." nick said.

"how often are you in here?" i asked finn.

"like never." he said with a disgusted face.

"dude you are missing out." i said before looking at the computer screens.

"finn don't lie, you're up here talking about how much you like nova all the time." nick said.

"yeah, it's like you just come in here to complain about not knowing how to tell her. oh wait, whoops." quincy said covering his mouth with my hand.

"aw, finn that's so sweet." i said putting my hand over my heart and looking at him.

"no, don't listen to them, they're making it up. everything they usually say in this room is made up. especially when they talk about my embarrassing moments. those are made up because i don't have any embarrassing moments." he explained as nick and quincy began to laugh behind me.

"so you don't like me? wow, and to think you helped me with a break up. i guess i'll just be going." i said before slowly walking towards the door pretending to be leaving.

"good going finn, you broke the girls heart." nick said.

"hey don't worry, nova you can play super hot with us if you stay. you're probably better then finn will ever be." quincy said.

i stopped before slowly turning around to see finn with his back turned to me. i smiled before i ran and jumped on his back making him lose his balance. laughter was heard all around the room.

eventually we all took turns playing super hot and i killed it. we made jokes and told stories and even dared nick to yell some embarrassing things out of the window. i'm pretty sure i heard a voice sounding much like damians shout some stupid dick joke back.

soon enough mary and eric walked in with smiles on their faces. it left all of us confused until they told us to come downstairs. we all gathered down in the kitchen where a cake sat on the counter.

"i figured since you weren't here on finns birthday you would still want to be part of it so i made the cake he had when he was 8." mary explained.

"it's special to him because when he was eight he finally learned how to tie his shoes." nick said.

"no that was when he was nine. when he was eight he learned to wipe his ass. you're his brother you should know this stuff." quincy said lightly hitting nicks arm.

"oh my god, you guys are so embarrassing." finn said with his hands over his face.

"nothing to be ashamed of finn." eric started. "nick didn't learn to wipe correctly until he was twelve."

"hey!" nick exclaimed.

i laughed as nick began bicker with eric which was funny because of how eric had been responding. "i'm sorry about them." fun whispered to me

"don't be, i like them." i said smiling up at him.

"anyways, would you guys like some cake before it ends up on somebodies face?" mary asked.

"yes please." i said smiling.

after having cake i helped clean up and began getting ready to go home. i was sad to leave because i was having so much fun. i'll be back soon, i just know it. i slipped my shoes on as i looked around finns room. it was so cozy and mine really wasn't.

"you ready to go?" finn asked from the doorway.

"yeah, just um." i stopped and looked at the hoodie laid on the bed the i had pulled from his closet earlier. "can i wear this?"

"go ahead." he said with a smile.

i smiled back and put it on. after that finn and i met everyone in the main hallway by the door.

"it was wonderful having you nova." mary said pulling me into a hug. "please come back soon." she whispered.

"i will." i whispered back as i hugged her.

we pulled away and smiled at each other. "i hope to see you soon." eric said also pulling me into a hug.

"you will." i said hugging back.

we pulled apart and i looked at nick and quincy. "see you guys later. don't try getting past my level." i said to them.

"no promises nova, but i will inform you that you are safe from finn beating you." nick said.

"i'm aware of that already." i said smiling.

"goodbye supa nova!" quincy exclaimed with his hands in the air.

"goodbye double q!" i exclaimed copying his hand movements.

"double q?" eric asked.

"yeah, i have two q's in my name but the second ones.." quincy started but was cut off by finn and nick. "silent."

"yeah, we get it, you and november have a weird bond already that kind of scares me but that double q joke is.." finn explained.

"it makes no sense." nick stated.

"yeah." finn said.

i looked at the two brothers then to quincy. "haters." we said at the same time.

"okay enough, november should be getting home to her evil step mother." finn said trying to cut off their conversation.

"finn!" mary exclaimed.

"sorry sorry, evil birth mother." finn said as he opened the front door quickly running out of it and into the yard.

"bye guys." i said smiling and waving as i walked out of the house. "are you walking me home or what?"

"uh, yeah that's the plan." finn said smiling at me.

this night was the greatest night of my life.
