GETTING BACK WHAT YOU LOST

Third year

"Sirius Black."

"What?"

"Date me."

"No."

You sighed. You wanted nothing more than to go out with Sirius Black. Yes, you understood, it was third year- you were 14 but you still wanted him.

Sirius Black was insanely attractive, funny, stupid and an idiotic dumbass... The whole Damn. Package.

Sirius showed no interest whatsoever, though.

Someday.

Fourth year

"Hello, gorgeous," you said sitting beside Sirius.

"Not interested."

"Bu-"

"Not interested."

"Hmph."

"You can-"

"Humph all you want- I know the drill, Mr Girl," you sighed, finishing off the sentencce you knew all too well.

"Then stop."

"Nope."

Merlin... you thought this was the year. You'll try again in a few days.

A few days later, you walked up to Sirius in the Dining Hall and before you even got the chance to open your mouth, he spoke.

"You know the answer-"

"Merlin-"

"I know your obsessed with me."

"Well, duh. Everyone is-" you started. "Just one date! That's all I'm asking for!"

"I'm busy."

"Doing what?"

"Homework."

"I have no faith in that whatsoever."

"Okay, let's play a game," Sirius suddenly started smirking.

"Go on..."

"It's called 'you tell me when you're available so that I can make sure I'm busy'."

You frowned, "You know what? Fine."

"Hurrah!"

"Oh hush."

Fifth year

Ever since your conversation with Sirius at dinner in fourth year, you stopped liking him. In all honesty, though, there was the tiniest part deep, deep down inside of you that still liked him. Otherwise, you had completely gotten rid off your crush... you think.

You had on and off relationships with people... you weren't a player obviously- you just did it to make sure you didn't like Sirius all over again.

---

You sat down in the Great Hall with Lily and Marlene, talking and laughing. Soon, Sirius came up to you and started speaking.

"Delacour, for whenever you ask me, the answer is no," he spoke.

You looked at him and shrugged, "Ok."

Sirius was taken aback. Okay? Since when were you 'okay' with him denying a relationship with you? It was probably nothing and you were actually still obsessed with him.

---

"Okay! That's it for today- you can pack up and go!" called the teacher at the end of the lesson.

Sirius and James had gotten shouted at one too many times in the lesson for playing hangman, noughts and crosses and having sword fights with their wands so were quick to leave the lesson.

In his rush, Sirius forgot to pack away his quill.

"Oh, Eliza, would you be a dear and return Mr. Black's quill to him?" smiled the teacher.

Ugh, no.

"Yes, of course," you plastered on a smile before going to the Great Hall, since it was lunchtime.

You walked into the Great Hall and saw Sirius sitting with James, Remus and Peter.

You walked over to them and when Sirius saw you he rolled his eyes with a tiny smirk, "Well, look who came running back. What did I say?"

You huffed, "Don't flatter yourself, Black."

"Why I am not," he said putting a hand to his chest.

"I came to give you your quill back."

You threw the quill at him before Marlene came behind you and took your arm gently to take you away, "He needs to stop thinking he's hot," she mumbled, "The only thing he can make hot is a microwave."

You smiled, "Yes, but, unfortunately, I caught a big old case of the fuck you's."

---

You sat in class in between Dorcas and Lily. Professor McGonagall was busy lecturing Sirius.

"Mr. Black, might I ask where your book is?" she frowned.

Sirius leaned back in his chair and you were positive that if he moved a millimetre more, he' be on the floor, "Yes, professor, you may ask me where me homework is."

"Ok, so, riddle me this. Where exactly is your Transfiguration book?" her thick Scottish accent, ringing through.

"In my dorm," Sirius spoke.

"And what's it doing there?" she asked.

"Having a better time than us," chimed in James.

Lily rolled her eyes, "That wasn't even good," she whispered to you.

Soon, McGonagall turned to Peter, "And, Pettigrew, where is your homework?"

"Huh?" he said, thickly.

"Did you do your homework, Pettigrew?"

He leaned forward in his chair, "Did you mark my test, Minnie?"

"Why, I have other students' tests to grade-"

"And I, Minnie, have other teachers' homework to do-"

"Godrick! Black, Potter, Pettigrew-"

"That's us-"

"-why do you have to be such a pain in the a- oh, no, I can't say that- 25 points from Gryffindor," she spoke angrily. (ok just imagine her saying that in her accent... so. bloody. powerful.)

Marlene groaned, "Why?"

"10 altogether for Black and Pettigrew not having required equipment and Potter, Black and Pettigrew can have 5 each for being a babbling, bumbling band of baboons."

James turned to Sirius and whispered once McGonagall wasn't looking, "Try saying that five times faster."

"Babbling, bumbling band of baboons."

"Babbling, bumbling band of baboons."

"Babbling, bumbling band of baboons."

"Babbling, bumbling band of baboons."

"Babbling, bumbling band of-"

"Potter! Black!"

"...-...baboons."

---

You sat in the library- well, you were asleep actually. You were studying for O.W.L.s but had become tired. You were also trying to get away from your current boyfriend, Oliver Smith.

You shot up when you felt someone shake you lightly.

"Eliza!"

"Yeah! What?!" you said, slightly panicked since you thought you were in class, "Oh, it's you."

Sirius stood there looking down at you.

"Sorry, I didn't want to wake you up. Were you sleeping?"

"No, I wasn't sleeping- why would I be sleeping? It's the only logical explanation that I was giving myself a self-taught lesson on how to die," you muttered.

"I want to talk to you about something."

---

Sirius POV

I had realised how I was losing Eliza. She was slipping from my grip. It was just this that made me realise that I actually did like her! It took me ages, but I noticed her beautiful, shiny hair, her gorgeous eyes and her stunning smile. And it wasn't that I was just missing the attention... I got that anyway.

So that was my plan. Getting back Eliza Delacour. Getting back what I lost.

Eliza POV

"I want to talk to you about something."

You sighed, "I'm busy."

"Doing what?"

You realised he was, in a way, recreating your conversation from fourth year.

"Homework."

"I have no faith in that whatsoever. I didn't realise doing homework was equivalent to sleeping."

"What do you want, Black?"

You grumbled, you weren't in the mood to be pissed off by Sirius.

"Why don't like me?"

You furrowed your eyebrows, "W-what? I do like you I just-"

"No," he interrupted, "Why don't you like like me? You used to but you don't anymore... what changed?"

"Sirius," you started, tiredly rubbing a hand over your face, "Do we really have to do th-"

"Yes. We do," he spoke with a determined look on his face.

You sighed, "You had no interest in me. I'd been trying since first year... that was four years I was after you. You showed no interest so I just gave up."

The two of you were awkwardly quiet for a long time until Sirius spoke up.

"I like you," he blurted out with wide eyes as if he himself was shocked he said it.

You stared up at him, "You. Like me."

"Yeah, I like you a lot. And not just like as a friend... I mean like as a 'be my girlfriend' way. And I know we were never friends and it seemed like I never wanted to be which I thought I didn't but when you stopped coming after me, I realised I do like you and I do want to be with you and-"

"Woah," you interrupted him, "Slow down, tiger. That's a long sentence."

"Thank Merlin," Sirius grinned, "I was running out of breath and things to say so I was hoping you would stop me and then you weren't doing it and then you did this and that and this and that and this and that and this and that and I'm running out of breath and goddamnit I'm doing it again so I'm just gonna stop talking-"

"I like you too, idiot," you stopped him, "I always have. This year, I just buried my feelings and moved on but deep down I've still just liked you."

His eyes lit up, "You still like me?!"

"Well, that is what I just said so-"

"YOU STILL LIKE ME!!!" he screamed over-dramatically.

You stood up and hit him on the head with a piece of parchment (like the Harry and Hermione scene asghefedbdeu)," Sirius Orion Black, this is a library!" you whisper-shouted.

---

On that day, Sirius had asked if you would be his girlfriend and you told him to wait so that you could break up with Smith.

That same evening you did so and that same evening you met up in the Room of Requirement with Sirius.

"Hey," he smirked at you, though you weren't sure what he was smirking about.

"Hey yourself," you smiled.

"Sooooo, now you'll be my girlfriend?" he asked desperately.

You tapped a finger to your chin as if contemplating- his shoulders dropped a bit in sadness, "No."

"No?" he asked, very upset now.

"No. I want you to ask me fancily, formally and properly."

His eyes lit up and a smile graced his face once again.

"Okay! Madame Eliza Delacour, would you do me the honour of being my girlfriend?"

"Why, of course, Good Sir. Ok, so now-"

You stopped talking when Sirius suddenly pressed his lips on yours. You took a second to respond but when you did, oh, he was a bloody good kisser. You interlaced your fingers together on one hand while his free hand went to wrap around your waist, pulling you closer. Your other hand went into his raven hair and the kiss got deeper.

After a long time, you both pulled away reluctantly for this stupid thing called oxygen.

"Wow," smirked Sirius.

You grinned at him, "'Wow' is right, Black."
