chapter nine

he hates you. he hates you. how did you get such a nice person to want to get rid of you. Sage began to scratch at her arms until she was interrupted by her potions professor.

Snape's pov:
"Hey, hey," I put my hand out to block Sages' hands from hurting herself further, "Please don't do that. I'm not totally sure if it's a subconscious thing, or intentional-" She shrugged.

"I guess either, I wasn't really thinking about it when I just did it now," she spoke wearily.

"In that case, hold out your arms," I said meeting her eyes, with a soft smile. Granted the words that she just spoke were not exactly a joy to hear, but I was glad to hear her voice. The only other time she had spoken was her outburst with the wolf earlier. She hesitantly outstretched her wrists and a I placed a proofing curse on it. No matter how hard she scratched she would not break skin, nor feel anything but slight friction. Was the wolf stupid? Did he not think of this?

I don't know how he managed to get such an angry response out of her earlier. What did he do to her? She had seemed to be doing much better with him, and the prat managed to mess that up for her.

"You don't have to tell me anything, but if you want to get anything out about Professor Lupin-"

"Remus," she corrected me, seemingly letting it slip, but she shuttered. "Well uh, thats what he let me call him," her voice trailing off."

Was this to do with his lycanthropy? Was she scared of him? When I was at school with him and I accidentally found out, I was certainly not eager to accept the situation. Maybe she was scared.

"w-Why doesn't he want me anymore," she cried. Lupin adores her. Where had she gotten the idea that he felt otherwise.

"Why would you say that? Sage Lupin was talking for what seemed like hours with Dumbledore pleading him to find to keep you with him," I spoke. "Sage he really does care about you, he's going to have you back with him and soon as he can. A very short amount of time."

"No." Sage grunted "I heard you both talking during potions. He said I was just too much for him to deal with." I shook my head. The stupid wolf didn't put a silencing charm on the bloody room? I'd have done it if I didn't think it would have been so obvious.

"Sage that's not at all what he meant. I don't think it's my place to explain why, you need to ask Remus,"

Sage nodded, but didn't seem to process my words.

"Can I tell him it would be okay to come around later?" I asked.

She gave me a weak nod and rolled back over to seemingly contemplate what she had heard. I decided to owl Lupin. I didn't want to leave Sage alone, and the matron was to be out for a bit. I felt a bit silly owling someone in the same building as me, but if it would save me a face to face with Lupin, it was worth it.

Back to normal:

Sage didn't think she actually wanted to die. Sje just didn't want to be a burden anymore, and there was certainly nothing keeping her on this earth. Although it was a possibility that Snape was lying, just so she didn't take a nose dive off another tower, she felt a bit more at ease. Lupin doesn't hate you. Well you didn't know that for sure...
