Chapter Three

"We are crossing the Georgia line, Hunter!! We will be at the track in about an hour!" My dad said, snapping me out of my day dream.

"Omg! I am literally so excited I think I might pass out," I screeched. I danced in my seat and prayed that I did not throw up. Not only was I excited to be at the same place as Chase, but I was also eager to watch the race. I could already imagine the smell of the racing fuel, the smell of rubber, the roar of the engines, and the energy of the crowd. I could see the cars racing around the track at speeds of almost 200 miles per hour. I could feel the energy of the crowd intensify as the cars round turn four and head for the fronstretch. "I hope I don't die before I get there though."

"I think that's a little excess, Hunter. You should never get that involved in something. You need to lay off the obsession you have with racing. And Chase Elliott," my mom said.

She never could understand how much racing and Chase meant to me. "Momma, I need something to be passionate about in life. Besides, you never know. I may end up meeting Chase Elliott and we could fall madly in love. Anything is possible," I said sarcastically.

"I can guarantee you that you will never marry Chase Elliott. The chances of you actually even meeting him are slim to none."

"Ok, whatever, Momma. Just please let me enjoy this race and let me do what I want and go where I want without complaining."

"I'll try to not complain, but I think it's going to be a long, hot day for me," she said with a sigh.

"Come on now, Laura. Let Hunter enjoy her day without bringing down the mood," my dad said jokingly. "Like she said, she may get to meet her true love, Chase Elliott." As my dad said this he looked at me in the rear view mirror and gave me a wink.

"I doubt it," my mom laughed.

I rolled my eyes and grabbed my phone. I opened my twitter app and tweeted Almost at the track. So ready for the race and I hope I run into @chaseelliott ;). Then I texted my best friend Emily and said ALMOST AT THE TRACK. SO EXCITED I CAN BARELY STAND IT! WHAT ABOUT YOU?

She instantly read my text and replied: ABOUT 30 MIN AWAY! CAN'T STAND THE ANTICIPATION! I'M GOING TO DIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Yup, that was Emily. Always a little too dramatic; but today, I could understand the all caps, extra E's on die and the butt load of exclamation points on the end of her text. I felt the same way as she did.

We kept texting back and forth, sounding like two ten year old girls even though we were eighteen. The next thing I knew, I looked up and there before my eyes was the exit sign for Atlanta Motor Speedway. I started freaking out and my stomach was all in knots. Calm down, Hunter I thought to myself. My dad took a right turn onto a road and immediately I saw people directing traffic and showing others where to park. This was it. I was there at the race track, hoping to meet Chase but just wanting to have fun with Emily and enjoy the race. In my bones, I could feel something big was about to happen.
