Chapter eight

You woke up early next morning, still wrapped in Loki's arms. Turning over, you looked up at his sleeping countenance. You moved your hand up and gently stroked his cheek. His skin was almost chilly under your touch.

His eyes fluttered open and looked down at you. You moved your hand away from his face and let it rest against his firm chest.

"I'm beginning to sense a pattern here. Why didn't you wake me?" He asked, not taking his arm away, which was still wrapped around your waist.

"You looked so peaceful. I didn't want to wake you."

He smiled at you for a second, before his smile faded and he asked, "is my face covered in blood again? Why are you looking at me like that?"

And you were indeed staring quite fondly. Snapping yourself out of it, you turned your gaze down. "No. Your face is perfect," You said playfully, quickly covering up your lapse. You pulled your stare back up to meet his piercing eyes.

After a bit, he removed the arm that held you close to him and sat up. "I had better go before Tho-" he was cut off by Thor crashing through the door practically yelling.

"Y/N have you seen Loki this morning? he is not in the kitchen nor living room nor his roo-" he was cut off by his eyes landing suddenly on Loki.

He looked relieved for a second, then confused. "What is going on?" He asked. Silently and stealthily, you fingers moved to the TV remote, turning it on and flicking the sound off.

"I came and got him this morning, we are gonna watch TV. Game Of Thrones plays early. Did you need something?" You asked innocently. he moved into the room a step and looked at the TV.

"Um, no, I just wanted to make sure he was still here," he told you.

"Thank you for your concern, brother, but I am perfectly capable of looking after myself," Loki said in a voice mixed with sarcasm, resentment and irradiation.

Thor shot him a look and left the room. Loki looked over at you smirking and said, "I'm questioning who in this room is really a God Of Mischief."

You turned the TV back off and rolled over, still tired from staying up so late. "Obviously it's me," you yawned, "I am the God of everything."

"We really should be getting up," Loki said, catching a yawn himself.

"I don't want to get up though." You yawned very loudly and dramatically pulled the blankets up over your head.

"Well its nine. We slept late as it is," he argued, pulling the blankets back down.

"Well." You thought over his statement. "I don't know how much I really care about that." You turned back on your stomach and buried your head in a pillow.

"Fine," he murmurer mischievously. He wrapped both arms around your waist and lifted you up.

"Loki! Put me down, goddammit!" You exclaimed through laughter.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Both of you froze. "Ehem," you coughed. "Come in. . ."

"Um, am I interpreting something?" Clint looked over the scene in a quick, comprehensive glance.

"Yes," Loki replied immediately.

"No!" you said, slapping at his arm until he dropped you back onto the bed.

"Maybe I should come back later?" Clint suggested, taking a hesitant step backwards.

"No, no. now is fine, what do you need?" You asked, brushing hair out of your face and shooting Loki a glare, which he returned with a snarky smile.

"Um, okay well, we got a job. S.H.I.E.L.D found a group of what they assume to be scientists that tried to hack into S.H.I.E.L.D's secure files. They want us to check it out."

You groaned, unconsciously turning over and burying your head in Loki's chest. He looked down at you and then over to Clint, who was giving him a questioning look. The god simply shrugged.

You noticed what you had just done and pulled away a little to fast, knocking Loki smack in the nose as you pulled away. "Ah!" He yelled, his hand flying to his face, which was already starting to gush blood.

He gave you an extremely irradiated look and stormed out of the room, heading to the bathroom sink. "Oops," you said meekly. "His nose is cursed..."

Clint looked as if he were trying not to laugh at what he had just seen and said, "so, uh I'll give you a few minutes?"

You sighed again and replied, "yeah, be out in a moment."

You slipped into your work uniform, which looked almost exactly like Natasha's, and you headed first to the bathroom to apologize to Loki.

When you got there you found he had cleaned himself up and the bleeding had already stopped. He glanced at your reflection in the mirror and turned back.

"Loki, I'm so sorry," you said, trying desperately not to laugh. He looked like a hurt puppy.

However, he sensed the note of laughter in your voice and said coldly, "get. Out."

You got control of your voice and said more evenly, "Hey, I really am sorry. At lest it stopped bleeding a whole lot sooner this time. It means its healing."

He turned around to look at you."Yes, I suppose it does."

You walked over to him and put your arms around him and said, "I have to go, I don't know when I will be back. Take care of yourself."

He laughed a little and said, "Why does no one think I can handle myself?"

Not naming all the many, legitimate reasons why everyone doubted his ability to make good choices, you said, "oh please. If it wasn't for me you would never leave your room."

He didn't argue, just shot you some death glares as you walked out of the bathroom and took a corner.

You stopped by the kitchen and grabbed something quick to eat. You ran into Tony and Steve, who both gave you their good wishes and said goodbye.

You met Natasha and Clint by the elevator and told Jarvis to take you down. Natasha looked at you with an amused smile on her face. You figured Clint must have told her everything he just saw.

You blushed slightly, but kept your face straight. As you left, you started to wonder when you would be back.

You hoped it wouldn't take long. A couple of idiot scientists should be easy enough to deal with, right?
