♡25•I Need Therapy•25♡

2 weeks later, Lexie and I basically live in Lena's and Kara's house now. We sleep over there every night and I have my own bedroom with a full walk-in closet and even a bathtub. They love us too much to let us go anywhere else and Lena and Lexie bond over trying to get Kara and I to eat vegetables.

Today, we went in to work and got changed in the interns locker room. Lexie and I were walking past the residents locker room and George tried to talk to us.

"Oh, Lexie. Would you mind pick- Lexie, I'm your roommate. You're gonna have to talk to me at some point." We walked past him with our heads held high.

"I reject that supposition." Lexie said as we walked past Meredith and Cristina.

"I reject your rejection." He yelled.

"And I ignore your rejection of my rejection." She turned around and walked with me.

"2 points to Lexie, 0 for George." She smiled and ruffled my hair.

10 minutes later, Lexie and I had on our trauma gowns for the mandatory skills lab. She tied mine on before I tied hers.

Suddenly, Cristina grabbed me. "Five, move." She grabbed my shoulders.

"Is everything okay?" I almost turned around but she interrupted me.

"Shut up, don't move." I stayed still and Lexie just looked at me in confusion.

The door opened and a red-headed attending came in. "Hi, I'm Dr. Hunt." Cristina kept moving me to block herself from Dr. Hunt or something. Eventually she let me go and Lexie stood beside me.

"Over the next few months, I'll be teaching you how to how to work quickly and efficiently to keep someone alive in circumstances where the safe bet is they're dead by the end of the hour. Does anyone have a problem working with live tissue?" He asked.

"Live tissue?" Cristina whispered to Izzie.

"I don't know." Izzie shrugged.

"Anyone? Speak now, in fact, leave now. If not, I own you for the rest of the day." No one moved and I was just confused.

"Good. Here we go." He pulled the curtain outside and Lexie immediately shielded my eyes. But I just took her hand away and gasped. The poor pigs were hog tied and upside down.

"Each resident gets a pig. Interns assist. Hang on." Steve started moving but stopped immediately.

Dr. Hunt took out a switchblade and I was scared he was gonna stab me. Instead he stabbed the pig, and Lexie hugged me tight. He stabbed all four pigs and in the end, his switchblade was covered in blood.

"Go ahead." He put it away as if he didn't just stab 4 pigs. No one moved and I stayed close to Lexie. "Save their lives." His eyes landed on me and they softened.

"The chief told me there was gonna be a kid here. Sorry for traumatizing you." He came closer and patted my head.

"My therapist is gonna hear about this." I grumbled and he just nodded his head.

"You're a monster." Izzie said and Dr. Hunt looked at her.

"They're under. They didn't feel any pain. Ask the veterinarian." He said calmly.

"You stabbed them!" Izzie looked just as traumatized as I did.

"So we can save them." Cristina stepped out from behind Lexie.

"We can practice on-on surgical mannequins. We can learn to do the exact same stuff." She shouted.

"Does this mean you're out?" Dr. Hunt asked calmly.

"Yeah, I'm out." Izzie walked out of the room.

"In that case who wants two pigs?" Everyone raised their hand immediately while Lexie and I raised our hands slowly.

Lexie and I got assigned pig 4 along with Steve and the new intern, Ryan.

Lexie and I were crouched down and stroking the pig's snout when Cristina's voice scared us.

"Are you petting the pig?" She looked at us in disbelief.

"I-I was-" I tried to explain myself but she interrupted me.

"Stop petting the pig." Lexie and I stood up and I overheard Dr. Hunt talking to Cristina.

"You seem to be spending a lot of time on that anastamosis. What was your name again?" Cristina looked so offended and I just petted the pig's belly.

"Yang. Cristina Yang."

"Right. Come take a look at this guy's pig?" He moved back over to George.

"O'Malley?" I didn't hear the rest of the conversation because they were too far but Cristina looked pretty pissed.

"I'm sorry, little piggie. I bet you were very good and didn't have an alcoholic dad. Your parents probably got turned into bacon but my mom died of the hiccups so don't worry we both have issues." I petted his belly again and Steve, Ryan and Lexie were staring at me weirdly.

I scoffed. "As if you don't have your own issues." I continued petting the pig.

Lexie went back down to pet the pig's snout. "I'm sorry about this little guy. It must have been awful. One day, you're at some beautiful farm out in the country breathing in the fresh air, lounging in the mud with all your friends, and next thing you know, you're sedated and stabbed in some skills lab for us to practice on and to become Lizzie's therapist." She continued petting the pig while I just glared at her.

"Get it together, Three!" Cristina whisper-shouted at Lexie and Lexie stood up guiltily.

Dr. Hunt's pager started beeping. He pointed to Alex. "You, take your interns down to the E.R. I'll meet you down there. Multiple M.V.C. Six incoming." Alex and his interns left so he pointed to George and his interns. "You, lab's over. Do your charts."

"What about my pig?" George asked.

Dr. Hunt pointed to Cristina. "She's got it."

"What?" Cristina asked.

"You're staying here." Dr. Hunt started walking away.

Cristina put down her instruments. "Wait, with half-a-dozen crash victims coming into the pit?"

"You got four struggling victims right here. Keep them alive." He started to walk away again.

"Wait, all of them? Karev gets to work on mangled people, and I'm stuck with 300 pounds of live bacon?"

I covered my pig's ears and whispered. "Don't listen to her. You're a good pig." I stroked his snout.

"Live bacon, and it better be that way when I get back." Dr. Hunt exited the skills lab and Cristina just stood there.

A few minutes later, Cristina went out and Lexie and I went to Wilbur, George's pig to work on him.

Lexie was stapling the pig's skin and I was monitoring his vitals. I moved to the left a little. "Ryan, what's Reggie's pulse?" He looked at his screen.

"69." He looked at my pig.

"Really? Cause Wilbur's at 102 and I'm pretty sure that's bad."

Steve turned around and smiled. "Babe's like an ox. Hers is 52."

Cristina yelled from across the room. "Hey, no cute names! They're not pets. They're subjects. It's not our job to get all affectionate. It's our job to keep them alive." She muttered something else but I didn't hear it. "So I don't want to hear Wilbur or Babe. You want to call them something, call them Sausage or Prosciutto."

The monitor beeped and Lexie and I started moving quicker. "Wilbur's crashing!" I said and Cristina came over.

"What? What did you two do?" She came closer.

"I don't know." I started panicking.

"I gotta reopen that thoracotomy. Uh, pull that chest tray back over here." I got the chest tray and rolled it to Wilbur. 5 minutes later, Wilbur still wasn't doing very well.

"Give me the status on Reggie and Paddy." Cristina said.

"Reggie's fine, Paddy's pulse ox is low but stable." Ryan nodded.

"And Babe?" She asked.

"Holding steady." Steve smiled but then turned around. "I thought we weren't supposed to give them names."

"I could give them numbers but then I'd probably tell you Three needs antibiotics and find you shoving a needle in Grey's butt." Both Lexie and I turned to Steve who was looking up and down and shaking his head. We both turned back around.

"His vitals are getting worse. Dang it." Cristina mumbled.

"Uh, did you check his lung again?" Lexie asked. We can't let Wilbur die. He's a good pig.

"I already took out an entire lobe." Cristina looked conflicted.

"What about his descending aorta?" Lexie asked again.

"Oh, just can it. Lexiepedia I've tried everything." The monitor started beeping.

"Pulseless. Uh, that's it we need to get him more exposure." She started searching around frantically.

"You're opening him up more?" I asked.

"I-I need everyone's help. Stem to stern." Ryan and Steve moved over.

"What-what if he can't take it? You could-you could kill him." I moved to the other side.

"Don't get emotional. Just get ready to start massaging his heart." I nodded.

"Scalpel." Cristina ordered and I handed her the scalpel. I watched as she sliced Wilbur's stomach that I just petted a few minutes ago but I tried my best not to wince. We performed a thoracotomy again but we couldn't find out why Wilbur was crashing.

"Come on, Wilbur don't do this." Cristina mumbled. She looked up at the monitor. "His heart's not filling. No, uh, massage it with both hands like a heart sandwich."

I nodded my head and put both of my hands in Wilbur's body cavity and massaged his heart.

"Good. Good." Cristina mumbled again. "There!" I looked and saw that the stab wound went through his diaphragm and into his spleen. "Right there. Stupid. Look at that. The knife went through his diaphragm and right into his spleen."  Yay I was right.

"Okay, um, hand me those clamps. Lexie handed Cristina some clamps and I kept massaging his heart.

Cristina placed the clamp onto the diaphragm. "Scissors." Lexie handed her the scissors. His monitor started beeping more erratically as I did my best to stay calm. "Okay, this thing's coming out." I became more panicked but Lexie gave me a look of reassurance and I did my best to stay calm. Cristina took out his spleen. "Okay. Suction. Clear it out." Steve used his suction and I massaged Wilbur's heart.

His monitor started beeping faster. "Come on, buddy." I whispered.

"Hold on, hold on, hold on, Right in here." I looked back at the monitor.

"Still nothing." I looked back at Wilbur. His monitor started beeping more and I closed my eyes this time. I didn't need to see another death. But I felt something moving in my hands and opened my eyes.

"Heart's beating on its own!" A smile came across my face and Lexie would have hugged me if my hands weren't bloody. We all laughed and sighed in relief. I almost started crying.

"Thank the fates." I whispered.

30 minutes later, Dr. Hunt returned and asked for all of their conditions. I removed my bloody gloves and threw them in the trash.

"Babe is indestructible. We removed a part of her liver and small bowel but she's been doing fine." We moved past Babe and onto Wilbur. "We had to uh cross-clamp Wilbur's aorta and massage his heart. I couldn't locate the source of his bleeding until I found a hole in his diaphragm and realized he had a splenic laceration. He's a fighter, though. He's pulling through."

We moved on to Reggie. "Reggie had some oozing after his colon resection, but we packed it and he's been stable ever since." Then we moved on to the last pig. "Uh, Paddy almost bled out because his carotid was sliced right through, but we put in a graft and he's been stable ever since. He's good as new."

I smiled because I got to save 4 pigs today even though Dr. Hunt was the one who stabbed them.

"That's good. That's great work, all of you. So, uh, put them out and make sure that you write up all your work." My eyes widened and I felt like throwing up and not because of the bulimia this time.

"What do you mean, put them out?" Cristina's smile fell from her face.

"Terminate them. The pigs- kill them." I went closer to Lexie and held her hand. Cristina just scoffed and walked out.

I checked on all of my post-ops and also got to scrub in on a craniotomy with Dr. Shepherd and I got to remove the tumor. At the end of the day, I met with Lexie and Cristina in the skills lab.

"I can't do it." Cristina shook her head. "I know I'm supposed to, but..." She trailed off.

"They'll suffer." My voice broke a little at the end. My whole life was dedicated to saving other's lives. This time, we had to kill them. "Don't let them, suffer." I looked up at Cristina who was looking down at me. She wouldn't admit it but she had a soft spot for me.

We grabbed the drugs to put down the pigs and inserted it into their bloodstream. Each time we killed one, a tear rolled down my cheek and I whispered, 'I'm sorry'.

Lexie ended up having to do something so Lena picked me up from work and we drove back to her house.

"Do you know what she plans to do?" She looked over at me while trying to keep her eyes on the road.

"No but she said something about her naming the pigs. To be fair, she did name them because I only watched Charlotte's Web and named my pig Wilbur. She named the rest." I ate a peppermint.

"Did you throw up today?" I shook my head and she smiled. "I think it's getting better. Thanks for helping me."

"You're like the daughter I never had. Of course I'm gonna help you." She ruffled my hair slightly and I just laughed and fixed it. We pulled into the driveway and when she unlocked the door, Kara was there with Chris who was crying.

"Lizzie!" He sobbed while running to me.

"Hey, what happened?" I knelt down and checked for any injuries.

"The devil's here." He sobbed louder.

"What?" Lena shrugged her coat off and placed it on the rack.

Kara shook her head. "Savannah's here. They got back together." Then I heard laughing upstairs and my heart sank to the floor.

"She broke my Iron Man." He held up his Iron Man action figure with a broken head.

"Oh, I'm sorry. How about this? When I get off work tomorrow, we'll go out and buy you a new Iron Man action figure and I'll even buy you a Hulk too." I stood up and put my coat on the rack.

"Really?" He wiped the tears from his eyes and there was now a smile on his face.

"Really." I smiled but it didn't reach my cheeks. I looked at Lena who was talking to Kara  and when Lena looked back at me, I saw sadness and pity in her eyes. I just avoided her stare.

"I'm, uh, actually not feeling so good. I think I'm gonna head home." I took my coat back and put it on.

"Let me drive you." Lena started fishing for her car keys but I shook my head.

"I think it's best if I just take a walk and clear my head. Wouldn't want you catching my sickness now." I knelt down again and hugged Chris.

"Bye, buddy." I walked out of the house and walked back to my hotel. It took me about an hour to get back. I was so cold but I didn't care.

My stupid idiotic self fell for Carter again but he fell for someone else.
