CHAPTER 38

Writer's POV :-

"What..?" Krishna was the first one to react. She looked frantically from the lawyer to Aakarsh.

She was too scared to hear about the police and the court after that dreadful incident. That one incident left her no immune to such matters and surely it always seems to land her in a state of vulnerability whenever it relates to Aakarsh.

Meanwhile, Aakarsh's face was as hard as a stone. He was continuously clenching his jaws. The mere presence of Neel with that evil smirk plastered on his face was more than enough to fuel his anger.

Though, he had expected something to happen today but didn't see it (the sudden court's order) coming.

"Why..?" Mrinal asked as he came forward patting Krishna's shoulder, gesturing to her to relax.

"The date has been issued for starting the review process of your Maninagar's property." Their advocate informed them by passing the papers to Mrinal.

Aakarsh shared a frowned look with Neev asking whether his PI informed anything about this, in eye gestures.

"What review..?" Neev asked him, as he nodded negatively to Aakarsh.

"Mr. And Mrs. Verma, I think you both remember about the will that your parents, Mr. Dev and Mrs. Ambika Verma, had written!?" Advocate Niranjan Desai asked sceptically looking at Krishna and Mrinal.

Both of them clearly understood what he was asking about! The reality dawned upon them which had just slipped out of their minds.

"We do remember Mr. Desai... it's just that it slipped out of our minds that's why we didn't foresee it coming up." Mrinal said and Krishna's face relaxed visibly sensing no danger to her son.

What more a mother wants if not for the protection and happiness of her child!?

"What's going Papa, will you tell us instead of playing these riddles...?" Aakarsh asked, getting frustrated with their code words.

"Oh baby boo patience... Patience is the key brother." Neel said, irritating him more.

"You.."

"Aakarsh it's not the time and place... first listen to what they have to say." Annapurna interrupted, stopping him to speak further. He nodded but fisted his palm tightly, pricking his skin with his nails.

Diksha noticed him harming himself in his anger. She shifted closer to him slowly, without getting anyone to notice her movements.

She held his right hand and drew slow circles on it trying to calm his anger. Aakarsh looked at the source of touch and loosened his fist after a few seconds receiving her warmth.

"Your Dada ji (paternal grandfather) and Dadi Maa (paternal grandmother), had written a will which states that you will be the next owner of something they loved dearly. Something which meant more than just property and wealth --- Maninagar."   Mrinal started speaking.

"Maninagar, is a small village with a total population of hardly 500 people. That specific village was very close & dear to your grandparents as that place and the natives are the ones who saved our (Aakarsh's grandparents and Mrinal & Abhay) lives."

"On the way to Maa's maiden, a gang of armed robbers attacked us. Had it not been for the people of Maninagar, we would not have survived that night. Since the village was located near the river we were crossing, the people heard the commotion. All the  villagers fought with the robbers and saved us." Mrinal explained.

"Then...?" Asked Aakarsh trying to sink the words inside his mind.

"I don't remember clearly as I was only two at that time and Bhaiya was four. But, as I heard from my parents, we were injured. Maa's condition was the worst among the four of us. The villagers were very kind to provide us shelter. They treated your dadi with extreme care."

"It took us a whole month to get back to our previous healthy selves. Maa's condition also upgraded at a good pace. On returning our way home, we came to know that the villagers were not capable enough to meet their basic needs properly. The only source of income was farming which too ceases for 4-5 months per year due to weather conditions."

"Ohh... So Dada ji and Dadi Maa decided to help them..?" Aakarsh asked linking the two events together.

"Hmm... Maa Papa promised them to help with everything they can. Later, your Dadi Maa started a NGO for the women and children and a factory was set up by your Dada ji for the people to get a job at least as they started to prepare different products using their agricultural raw materials."

"After consulting with many senior agriculturists, new techniques and technologies were provided to them to change their pattern of farming. This helped them in growth of production. And those products were introduced in local markets." Mrinal sighed, sharing a look with Krishna.

"A big share of 75% of net income from all the farming & production and the market sales, goes to them which is their only means of living." Krishna continued further.

"Ohh so how come Aakarsh is related to all these?" Diksha, who was listening to everything silently till now, asked in confusion.

"As per the will Mr. Aakarsh Verma is the rightful owner after their grandparents. This will be effective on his 25th birthday as per one the conditions of the will. Before that a 6 months review will be issued by the court in order to make sure that he is eligible to hold the rights. So he has to claim the ownership in court by fulfilling the conditions before the completion of the 25th year of his age."

Advocate Niranjan Desai drew everyone's attention explaining the facts written in the testament.

"Are wakeel sahab aapne toh sirf ek hi 25 ki age wali condition batayi! Kya iss Will me ye nahi likha ki  Aakarsh ka property claim karne ke liye 25 se pehle shadi shuda hona zaruri hai...sath hi sath iska background clear hona chahiye...? (Hey Mr. Lawyer, you just mentioned one condition of the age criteria of being 25...! Doesn't this will have two more conditions stating that Aakarsh must be married before 25th year of his age to claim his rights and that he must have a clear background?)"

"Aur kya ye bhi nhi likha ki agar in teeno mein se koi ek bhi conditions fulfill na ho to court kisi deserving aur suitable person ko dhundh ke ye property de sakta hai..? (And, hasn't it mentioned that if any of the conditions is not fulfilled then the court -- being the deciding body -- can find a suitable and deserving person to pass this to him/her…?)

Neel's words created a pin drop silence with everyone gaping at the newly found information. The atmosphere suddenly turned dead serious.

Moreover Neel's smirk was clearly pointing towards the well known fact that this matter has something great to do with him.

Definitely something big is planned by him as he would not waste his time over anything which doesn't bring him success and benefits.

"Obviously these are the conditions Mr. Neel but didn't you rule out another clause mentioned in it? For your information let me remind you that if the court is unable to find such a suitable candidate in 3 weeks then the whole property will be given under charity."
Niranjan pointed out another clause which not only made him shut but also wiped the smirk off his face.

Advocate Niranjan Desai folded his hands across his chest. It was his turn to flash a victory smirk.

Being the most loyal advocate and a very good friend of Mrinal Verma, Niranjan knew how Neel's trying to bring Aakarsh down.

"Whatever... that's yet very far, Advocate. For now ask your client what he is gonna provide as evidence of his eligibility against the conditions? Starting from today, how is he going to get married before the review process?" Neel taunted turning to Aakarsh, smirking again.

His words changed Aakarsh's whole demeanor. His mind struck to the single thought.

He has to get married in the next 6 months?

He was still lost in his thought process when a loud feminine voice fell upon his ears.

"No... Aakarsh kisi se shadi kaise kar sakta hai (how can Aakarsh marry anyone)...?"
