5) First Dates are always Turbulent

Alucard PoV

Miya: "I am about to end my hiatus. When I do, I'll give you an exclusive interview."

That was shocking.. we had argued about this very thing for so many times, and now..

Miya: "Yes, naturally, that alone won't be buzzy enough. But this next part should be convincing- I won't be making my comeback from my mother's agency. My return will be handled by a new management."

Alucard: "...."

Miya: "Yes yes, we have a deal then, thank you for your time."

Polite to very end, she hung up and turned back to me.

Miya: "There you have it."

Alucard: "...Sorry."

Miya: "Why are you apologizing? But seeing you all downcast like this is kinda cute."

I didn't had a glib response. I really owed her one. The imagination of myself chased by cameras sent chills down my spine.

Alucard: "But about your comeback.."

Miya: "You were right, Alucard."

She seemed reluctant to admit it.

Miya: "I liked starring movies and TV shows. It was hard work but rewarding. I never wanted to stop. And I shouldn't be lying to myself about that."

Alucard: "Yes, you were wrong."

Miya: "Th-this is the part where you're supposed to forgive me!"

Alucard: "You're the one who spent two whole weeks avoiding me."

Miya: "And now I just helped you!"

Alucard: "That's that; this is this."

Miya: "....fine. I shouldn't have been so hardheaded. I'm sorry."

Alucard: "One more time."

Miya: "Forgive me! I regret everything!"

Alucard: "If you were only looking up at me through your eyelashes, it would be perfect."

Miya: "Don't push your luck."

She says grabbing my nose. I yelp with my muffled voice.

Alucard: "So.... The reason you waited outside my apartment, it was to tell me that you're going back, isn't it?"

Miya: "Yes."

So she'd already made up her mind, long before I told her about Mnesarete. A small part of me found that frustrating, but for the most part, I felt pretty happy about it.

Alucard: "Man, the world keeps turning with or without me.."

All that is remaining is her Emergence syndrome. Once that got cured, everything would be perfect.

Miya: "We are here."

She says, stopping outside a apartment building.

Alucard: "That's where you live?"

Miya: "Yeah. *swiping the bags from my hand* Thanks for carrying these."

Alucard: "...Bye then?"

Miya: "Bye bye."

Saying that, we both turned around. But suddenly she calls me out.

Miya: "Oh, right, Alucard!"

Alucard: "Yes, Your Majesty?"

Miya: "Come out with me this weekend."

Alucard: "Hm?"

Miya: "Once I'm back at work, I won't have much free time. It's been two years I've been living here, but never once I've gone to Preblica. Ridiculous, right? I should definitely go there once."

Preblica, a town just beside Serenity. It's famous for magnificent temples and spectacular riverside view.

Alucard: *smiling* "That means-"

Miya: "It's not a date."

Alucard: "Awwww..."

Miya: "You want a date that bad?"

Alucard: "Of course!"

Miya: "Then we can call it one."

Alucard: *fist pumps* "Cool!!"

Miya: "You're that pleased?"

Alucard: "Well yeah. Ah, wait on sunday.."

Miya: "What? You have something more important than me?"

Alucard: "I'm on the early shift on weekends. But I'm off at two, so after that..."

Miya: "Okay. Two thirty at the gates of the Serenity station. If you're even a second late, I'm leaving."

Alucard: "Got it!"

And thus, in the most surprising fashion, I got my first ever date.
____________________________

It was a beautiful day. Sunday had finally arrived, and it proved to be perfect date weather. I finished my part-time job on time and dashed home right after that.

Ruby: "Welcome home."

Alucard: *patting her* "Thanks for coming, Ruby."

Ruby: *blushing* "I-It's nothing."

I had worked up a sweat runing home, so I rinsed off with a quick shower and, just to be safe, changed my underwear.

Ruby: *questioning look*

Alucard: "Men must be prepared for anything!"

Ruby: *even more confused*

Alucard: "Please take care of the house, Ruby!"

Ruby: "Uh, okay, bye."

Today, my steps felt light. I am walking like I always do, but in my heart, I was skipping. Like there are wings on my feet.

The roads I went down every day looked entirely new. I notice flowers peeping through cracks in the pavement. And the cirps of the sparrows sitting up on the tree branches. It all seemed so lovely and sweet to me today.

At the top of my spirit, I suddenly hear a little girl crying. The kid was just ahead, near the entrance of a park, bawling her eyes out.

Alucard: "What's wrong? Are you lost?"

She looked up and momentarily stopped crying. But a moment later, she wailed again.

Little girl: "Mommy got lost....!"

Alucard: "That's also a valid interpretation. "

Kneeling down, I put my hand on her head.

Alucard: "Now now, don't cry. I'll help you find your mom."

Little girl: "Really?"

Alucard: "Yeah."

I smiled hoping she would smile back, but she just looked confused.

Alucard: "Just come with me."

I just took her hand, but before I could stand up...

"Stop right there, pedophile scum!"

A tip of hard boot landed right on my tailbone, shooting a sharp pain through my butt.

Alucard: "Aughhhh!!"

I roared, rolling across the pavement. Looking back, I saw a girl roughly my age. A pink short bob hair, wearing a white sports blouse and baggy pants, exposing her stomach.

"Now! Run away before this pedocreep gets up!" she urged, looking dead serious. But the kid just blinked at her.

Alucard: *barely getting up* "Who are you calling a pedocreep!?"

NewGirl: *grabbing kid's hand* "What are you waiting for? Let's run!"

Little girl: "But he's helping me find my mommy."

NewGirl: "Eh?"

Alucard: "Just as she said, I was trying to help her find her lost mother."

NewGirl: "Isn't this kid's the one who's lost?"

"Mommy's lost," the little girl said firmly. With that, she pulled away from the new girl, moving to my side. The tables had turned.

NewGirl: *smiling awkwardly* "O-oh, aha-haha.. so that's how it is... Sorry."

Alucard: "Ugh, my butt hurts so much! I think you split my ass in two!"

NewGirl: "What!? That sounds ba- Wait a second, it already was!"

Alucard: "Ow, oww, owwww."

NewGirl: "F-fine! All right!"

She yelled...and then turned around. Bracing her hands on the wall, she thrust her butt in my direction.

NewGirl: "Go on!"

Alucard: "Go on and what?"

She clearly wants me to kick her as a pay back, but I don't find kicking ladies asses particularly interesting.

NewGirl: "Hurry up! I've places to go!"

Well I also have an important appointment right now. It's going to be late if I tried to explain some sense into her, so the best route is to just kick her ass and get this thing over with as soon as possible.

Alucard: "Right, Okay."

I gave her a light tap. That would be enough.

NewGirl: "What was that? Stronger!"

Alucard: "Really?"

I kicked her a little stronger. There was a satisfying thwack.

NewGirl: "Don't joke with me, my kick was certainly more than that!"

Alucard: "Fine, don't blame me later!"

She'd left me with no choice. Good men has a duty to fulfill women's wishes. And so, I delivered the hardest middle kick I could.

NewGirl: "O-owieeee!"

She fell on her knees. her hands clutching her backside.

NewGirl: "M-my butt split in half...."

Alucard: "Don't worry! It already was."

"Excuse me."

We both turn around to see a man in a police uniform, staring at us with a confused look.

Police officer: "I'm afraid I can't let you enjoy deviant activities in broad daylight at a public park."

Alucard: "She is the only one deviant here!"

NewGirl: "N-no! There's a good reason for this!"

Police Officer: "You can explain that reason at the station. You should come along too little girl, your mother's is waiting for you there."

Little girl: "She is? Yay!"

The officer finally let us leave a good hour and a half after we reached the police station.

Alucard: "Tch, this is the worst. And it's all your fault, Beatrix."

Beatrix: "Eh!? How do you know my name?"

Had she forgotten identifying herself to the policeman?

Alucard: "Beatrix Oriante. Legends Academy. Arts Faculty. I know everything about you."

Beatrix: "W-what!?....um,er...Tell me about yourself too! Its not fair!"

Alucard: "Dante Reinhardt, a fellow student."

No reason to tell her the truth.

Beatrix: "Okay Dante, it's your fault for smiling creepily at a young girl."

'Dante': "That doesn't mean I was wrong, so it's your fault. Also, the questioning would have ended much QUICKER if you weren't OBSESSED with your phone while I was explaining the misunderstanding."

For the entire last hour the officer was scolding her for not playing with her phone so much.

Beatrix: "That's true...but you don't need to spell it out like that! I mean, I kept getting texts! I had no choice."

'Dante': "So what? Ignore them."

Beatrix: "B-but if I don't answer, I might lose my friends."

'Dante': "....."

Beatrix: "I know you're thinking, 'If you'd lose them that easily, they were never your friends at all."

'Dante': "You clearly think so yourself."

Beatrix: "Shut up!"

Alucard: "Well you seem nice Beatrix, so I'll drop it."

Beatrix: "What that's supposed to mean?"

Alucard: "It takes guts to step in to save a kid from a creep. I respect that. But just call for help instead next time, okay? A real criminal might just attack you instead, you're pretty cute after all."

Beatrix: *blushing* "Don't go calling me cute like that!."

Then suddenly her phone rang.

Beatrix: "Oh crap! I have somewhere to go! Bye!"

She said racing off. Seeing her backside, I remember kicking it. Hmm, yep still not into it. Well let's go home.

Alucard: "Wait- Aahhh!!"

Remembering my date, I burst into a headlong sprint toward the Serenity station.
_______________________________

The station clock showed 4:08 pm when I reached there. Catching my breath I looked around.., but no sign of her.

Alucard: "O-of course.."

There's no way she would wait an hour and half for me. Ah.. I really blew it.

Miya: "You had the gall to keep me waiting for ninety-eight minutes."

Alucard: *dumbfounded* "........."

Miya: "Why do you look like you just saw a ghost?"

Alucard: "Miya isn't a lovable girl that would admirably wait for a man running late. You must be an imposter!"

Miya: *glaring* "So that's how you think of me, Alutard."

Alutard: "Um, I think you misspelled C with T."

Miya: "I know what I said."

Rejecting will only make the name stuck, so I remained silent. Calming down, I finally notice her outfit.

A long-sleeve blouse with a cute knit hooded vest over it. Her skirt went to her knees. Meanwhile, her boots came all the way up to just below the knees.

The whole thing was classy and elegant, all perfectly balanced.

Alucard: *sigh*

Miya: "What?"

Alucard: "It's a date, so where's the miniskirts and bare legs?"

Miya: *making a fist* "I will punch you."

Alucard: *sigh*

Miya: "You're that disappointed!?"

Alucard: "I was really looking forward to it."

Miya: "You dare to complain after being this late?"

Alucard: *dejected*

Miya: *pouting* "W-well, I put a lot of thought into picking my clothes, you know..."

She muttered, eyes wavering. Ah, she's cute.

Alucard: "Miya, you look absolutely adorable!"

Miya: "Yep, you should just be honest like that."

Alucard: "You make my heart go boom-boom so much, I want to kidnap you and take you home! Put you on walls of my room!"

Miya: "Okay, now you're just being creepy. Knock it off."

Alucard: "Then let's get going."

I started walking towards platform.

Miya: "Wait. We're not done here."

Alucard: "What else is there?"

Miya: "Drop the act."

Alucard: "I would never do such a thing in your presence."

Miya: "Let's hear your excuse. You will then sincerely beg my forgiveness."

She is enjoying this, her expression is lively.

Miya: "If it's not good enough, I'm going home."

She waited full ninety-eight minutes just to torture me, didn't she?

Alucard: "On the way here, I found a lost child by the park."

Miya: "Bye."

Alucard: "It's true!"

Miya: "There are no parks between your job and here."

Alucard: "I went home first."

Miya: "Why?"

Alucard: "I had time to spare and figured I'd better shower and change my underwear, just in case."

Miya: *disgusted* ".......Gross. But I'll assume it as a useless flailing of a pathetic young boy and move on."

Alucard: "Thank you."

Miya: "But I won't allow you within three yards of me the rest of the day."

That could hardly be called a date. Everyone would just assume I am stalking her.

Miya: "Go on, finish your lie."

Alucard: "I really did take a lost kid to the police station."

Miya: "Was this kid a girl?"

Alucard: "Yes."

Miya: "You had the nerve to leave me waiting while you met another woman?"

Alucard: "You're even counting 4 year olds?!"

Miya: "I am."

Oh boy, she's really in mood to torment me. If I had told her about Beatrix, there was no telling what scorn would be heaped upon me.

Miya: "But the police station is close by the station."

Alucard: "She was crying! I had to stick around until we found her parents."

Miya: *suspicious galre* "Hmm. If you're lying, I'll make you eat noodles through your nose."

Alucard: "I-I don't think we should play with our food."

Miya: "You will be eating it, so that won't be a problem."

Alucard: "....."

She moved closer, studying my face and trying to pressure me. Damn, I could feel her breath on my cheeks

Miya: "You're so stubborn."

Alucard: "....."

Miya: "Well fine. You're not off the hook, but let's get this date started."

Alucard: "Thank you,"

Finally, relief washed over-

"Oh! It's the pedo guy!"

A familiar voice called. Turning around, I see Beatrix and three other girls, probably her friends she'd promised to meet.

Alucard: "Ah, the Masochist girl!"

She ran over to me and tugged my shirt.

Beatrix: "Don't call me that!"

"Masochist girl?" one of her friends echoed, baffled.

Beatrix: "He was just joking! Right?"

But before I answer, another one of her friends grabs her arm and pulls her away from me.

Beatrix: "W-What?"

"That's the hospitalization guy." the friend whispered. I could totally hear her.

Beatrix: "Huh? But he's Dante Reinhardt?"

"What? Where'd you get that name? And she's... you know."

All four of them glanced at Miya. Apparently, they could see her.

"Come on, let's go."

Her friends led her into a just arrived train, amd they were soon out of sight.

Realizing the dreadful situation I was in, I slowly glance at Miya. Her face was terrifyingly devoid of expression.

Miya: "Alucard."

Alucard: "You've got the wrong idea."

Miya: "Don't worry, I'm not leaving."

She said, clinging onto my arm.

Miya: "Let's go buy some spicy noodles!"

Alucard: "M-Mercy??"

Miya: "No can do, pedo."

And so our first date began with a detour to the nearest convenience store.
