Robin

Robin is smiling, the kind of ear to ear grin that infects those around her, causing the others to feel her excitement, as she watches Marshall bounce from foot to foot, all of them feeling a little giddy.

Marshall looks to her, eyebrow raised, a question lingering in his gaze and she know that him finally taking the leap across the rooftops was more, that it meant more, than just a short jump.

He was ready and she thinks, for once, she might be too.

Robin hiccups a bit as she stumbles down the hall to their door.

What was the number again?

Robin groans, as she pauses, trying to catch her breath.

Stumbling up three flights of stairs while drunk wasn't an easy feat and she just needed to catch her breath before walking into their apartment.

Why was she even here again?

Robin thought about it a moment, but couldn't seem to remember the reason. She shrugs her shoulders figuring that it didn't matter. She'd probably remember as soon as she saw them anyway.

She stumbles forward the last few steps it takes to get to their door and she fumbles for the handle for a moment, frustration building when she can't seem to turn the handle.

She pauses, listening to the giggling on the other side, finding it funny that Marshall is the one giggling, Lily trying in vain to make him quieter.

They are so incredibly adorable, she thinks as she hears Ted start laughing as well.

Robin smiles to herself, finally finding the handle of the door. She pushes it open, eager to talk to Lily about... well about whatever it was she wanted to say to her when she came up here.

The others don't even notice the door swinging open, almost aggressively, and Robin freezes at the sight that greets her, shocking, but not at all surprising.

It took her a second to process what was in front of her.

Marshall's mouth was on Lily's, nothing she hadn't seen before of course.

What did surprise her, albeit only mildly, was Marshall's hand snaked up Ted's shirt, thumbing at the band of his pants as Ted sucked on his neck.

Robin knew what it looked like, what was clearly about to happen between the three of them and instead of being embarrassed for interrupting, heat began to pool in her stomach, excitement coiling in her chest, watching the three of them move.

Lily's glances in her direction, taking notice of her breathing, meeting her eyes as Marshall moves towards Ted. Lily's smile is alluring, inviting Robin to join as she waves her hand toward them.

Robin watches, more intent on studying the way they move with one another, the thought of joining them incredibly enticing, but before she could take a step toward them, Barney stumbles into her, knocking her out of her trance as she trips into the room, barely managing to stay on her feet.

The three of them jump apart, not looking one another in the eye, clearly embarrassed as Barney rambles on, obviously drunk, about some half-assed plan to pick up some women.

"Come on, Ted!" Barney shouts, grabbing his arm and dragging him out of the apartment in search of some prey for the night. Ted glances at her out of the corner of his eye, a blush on his face as he follows Barney out.

Robin takes a deep breath, clearing her head, trying to rid herself of the images from just moments before, as she focuses on Lily.

"Anyone want a drink?"

~~~
Robin takes one final deep breathe, the air washing away any of the nervousness she may have felt, and she takes the leap.
She's a little surprised, to be honest, to find that she has the guts, but she takes the leap nonetheless.
Warmth floods her when Marshall takes her into his arms, pulling her close to his chest, a glance to Lily to ensure that everything he was doing was alright with her.
Her heart beats quicker, thundering in her chest, when Lily nods to them, giving them her consent and Robin knows that they are doing this.
They are really going to do this.
