Chapter 35 - Back to work...

We dress ourselves from the pile of clothes on the floor, the difference from ripping each others clothing off just minutes before. Link easily slips his jeans and t shirt on as I struggle to re fasten the buttons on my shirt in the dark lit room. My hands get replaced by Link's strong, warm hands gently buttoning my shirt up to my chest. He stays close to me as his hands fall to his side. I long for his soft touch to come in contact with my hands... my arms, my waist, my cheeks. I can feel his cold breath caressing my forehead, down to my face. I reach for his hands, holding them lightly in each of mine. Link pulls me into a gentle embrace, my head fits perfectly into his chest, I let out a small relieved sigh as he slowly strokes my back.

"Some of the crew will be here soon, I should get ready for filming." Link says pulling apart and giving me a quick kiss.

I nod in agreement as I pull away from his arms and move away from the table.

"You're still not talking to me." Link says, trying get my attention.

"Oh, I'm just uh, a bit overwhelmed by what just happened..."

"Really?" Link raises an eyebrow.

"It's been over a month, Link. I finally see you and you pin me on the table before I can even have the chance to say I've missed you." I laugh lightly. "I don't know if it's been hard for you but it definitely has been for me."

"You have no idea how hard it's been to stay away from you." Link says, reassuringly putting a hand on my shoulder. "It's why I had to keep myself busy here. Keep my mind busy."

I look past Link and to the table where we just did what we did.

"...I can't believe we just had sex on the table you film at everyday." I hide my face in my hand, shaking my head in embarrassment. "I'm never going to be able to watch GMM the same ever again."

Link chuckles, taking my hand that's covering my face and giving it a squeeze. He then looks over in the direction of his office he shares with Rhett and sighs as he pushes up his glasses.

"I want you stay but..."

"I know. I better go now." I say giving him a small but disheartened smile.

"I'll give you a ride back."

"No it's cool, I'll walk, but thanks."

"Are you sure, it's no trouble."

I nod and kiss him on the lips quickly.

"Can I see you again? Can we do that?"

"Yeah, I think it's time. Things here seem steady again. I think if we're careful. I'd like to try."

I smile.

"Tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow." He says with certainty.

I take a step back with a huge grin on my face, I nod at him not being able so goodbye, because well, now I don't need to. He watches me, chuckling to himself as I happily but awkwardly walk to the door, now with slight skip in my step. I stop by the open door way and stop to turn to Link, he gives me a small wave before I walk out and through past the lounge room and to the hallway.

"Hey Link, there's a bunch of shit out here, do you mind helping me-" Rhett walks through the entrance of the building but stops short when he see's me instead. "Oh..."

His smile drops.

"I was just leaving." I say, quickly sliding past him.

"You're here... I'm genuinely surprised. It's been what? Over a month? I thought you would've forgotten about Link by now and moved onto your next daddy." Rhett whispers loudly, frowning.

"Rhett, stop!" I turn to whisper back. "I'm not like that."

"If you want to fuck around with Link, fine. But I'd appreciate it if you didn't do it in our workplace."

"Just don't ask where we did it." I say to let his mind wander, his frown softens and his eyes widen as he looks away in disgust.

"...I'd rather not know." He says, snapping himself back into focus.

I nod with a sharp laugh. He stares at me for a few moments, before I turn to reach for the door, he grabs my arm.

"Just as long as Link doesn't find out about what we did, everything will be fine. I know you must feel weird being around me, and I'm sorry for making you feel that way but you gotta act differently around me in front of others, especially Link. Otherwise, people might start asking questions" He says firmly.

I nod.

"...Good...I'll see you later, Martha."

A nervous pang hits me in the chest. I guess I'm going to have a lot of unwanted run ins with Rhett in the future. I really didn't want to have to see him again. But I guess Link and him are a package deal. I nod slowly again and turn to walk out of the studio building.

Rhett stares at the closed door Martha just walked out of. He tries to get himself back to grips with the work he was focused on before his thoughts of Martha and Link interrupted them. The tall man bends over to pick up the heavy box of letters and fan mail, he was wary of hurting his back as he did so but he didn't want to trouble Link, or even to talk to him in that moment of time. As he carefully makes his way down to the hallway, he turns into the lounge area to see Link standing by the counter. He's leaning on his side, lost in thought. When Rhett walks in, dropping the box of mail onto the counter beside Link, he straightens up and instantly stares at his taller friend with a glare in his eyes.

"Who were you talking to?" Link asks, knowing full well that he was talking to Martha, but still doesn't want to give away their false break up that Rhett had already debunked.

"Oh, your girlfriend. Great girl." Rhett comes right out, barely looking Link in the eye.

"...What were you talking about?"

"Does it matter?" Rhett shrugs Link off as if he's overreacting, keeping himself occupied by sorting through the mail.

"It kinda does, especially when it sounds like you two are keeping secrets from me" Link pushes the box away from Rhett, causing him to whip his head up to look at his friend. "...I didn't want to listen in but I heard enough. 'Just as long as Link doesn't find out what we did'? What did you do, Rhett?" Link questions his friend.

"You misheard, Link" Rhett says towering slightly above him, glaring down at him.

"You said you were sorry for the way you were making her feel. What. Did. You. Do, Rhett?" Link tries to stare down at Rhett sounding firm.

"Nothing. You're crazy, man." Rhett says, walking past him and towards the studio door.

"What did you do?!" Link repeats, louder this time whilst shoving Rhett by the shoulder.

"Maybe it's not something I did! Maybe it's something your little girlfriend did! Why don't you try blaming someone other than me for once." Rhett storms away from Link and into the studio room.

Link follows close after him and begins to ask more questions whilst Rhett pretends to ignore him by setting up the camera in front of the GMM set.

"What was it? Were you pressuring her to stay away from me again? Did you put your hands on her again? You tell me right now!" Link pushes on at Rhett as he slowly blanks him out and draws his attention to the camera in his hands.

The camera had been recording for the past half an hour. Did Link know this was filming? He slowly stops the camera from rolling and saves whatever footage had been recorded. He swiftly turns the camera off and takes the memory card out, slipping it in his back pocket as he turns to Link who is still on full rage.

"Uh sure, I kissed her." Rhett comes out, half lying, his focus still on the memory card and not on the words that came out his mouth.

Link stops, looking at his friend in shock but almost in relief, as if he knew and he just wanted him to confess. The shock then quickly turns into anger as he imagines his best friends lips on Martha, his hands all over her petite and vulnerable body. The images scramble inside of Link's head and before he knows it, his hand is covered in blood, Rhett's blood. Rhett staggers backwards, his hands covering his now bleeding nose from Link's very angered punch.

"Hey, Link. Hey Rhe-" Stevie walks into the room holding some of the camera equipment but drops it instantly when she see's Rhett's hands and face covered in his dark, thick blood.
