Inumaki x Reader

The day was peaceful and filled with the promise of sunshine and smiles.  The smell of lavender drifted along the gentle breeze that swept across my face like a kiss.  Clouds trailed along in the sky, peering down upon me.  A small smile was graced upon my face as I paid the shopkeeper, the coins clinking as they were exchanged.

"I hope things go well.  Let me know if it works out for you two," the flower worker smiled with a wave.  The flowers I bought were a collection of lavender and roses, the calming fragrances easing my nerves.  I slipped a few extra coins into the tip jar with a wink.

"You and me both.  Thanks so much," I farewelled, walking past the small outdoor shop to continue along the street.  My spirits were high as I gently cradled the bouquet near my body.  The collection of flowers fit him so well, I just hoped he liked it.

The truth was I wasn't exactly sure what he would like.  Inumaki was a guy of little words, though I'm able to understand most of what he says.  He didn't seem to talk about himself much but I couldn't help falling for him and wanted to show it through a gesture rather than words.  If I've learned anything from Inumaki is that actions speak louder.

I sighed before picking up a tune to whistle.  Today was the perfect day to do this.  The weather was beautiful and calm, ideal for a budding romance.  Making my way back to school, I began crafting a plan to properly confess.  There needed to be no mistakes and I was dedicated to proving myself an ideal partner.  Inumaki only deserves the best and that's what I was going to be.

Excitement coursed through my veins at the anticipation.  I had a strong feeling that I could do this.  We've known each other for awhile now, partners in crime since earlier years.  Once the casual flirting started, I knew I was done for.

It had happened one day, purely by accident but set about an unstoppable chain of events.  The memory invaded my mind as I approached the school.  Inumaki and I were training one afternoon with one rule; we were only allowed to use our limbs, cursed techniques were off limits.

By the end of our training rounds, we were sweaty and covered in dirt with our clothes all ruffled.  To be fair we had looked suspicious when Panda made a fairly inappropriate assumption that caused red to tint the tips of Inumaki's ears.  I hadn't thought twice at the time about sending my white haired sparring partner a wink and an "I wish" that had caused his whole face to explode in crimson.  His expression had been so cute at that moment.  After that he made sure to get back at me with his own winks and teasing eyebrow raises that would cause my own face to warm here and there.

I shook my head from the memory, focusing on my goal of making an official declaration.  My palms were beginning to become sweaty by the time I made it to Inumaki's dorm.  This seemed like the best place to check first.

My hand came up to knock on the door, instantly making sure to adjust the collar of my shirt and fix my hair before he opened it.  A few anxious moments later and the door opened to reveal a tired looking Inumaki.  My face warmed at the sight of his hair all messy and his eyes glazed from sleep.  He really was the cutest.

"Good morning sleepyhead," I chuckled softly.  His eyes widened as he shook himself from his exhausted daze to stare at the bouquet of flowers in my hand.  Tilting his head in curiosity, he pointed at the lavender and roses.

"Leaf mustard?" his voice rasped out, sleepiness laced in his tone.  I offered the flowers to him with a small smile as his eyes widened further in surprise.  He gently took the bouquet from me, his violet eyes flicking to me with uncertainty.

"It's for you.  I wasn't sure which flowers were your favorite so I figured lavender was nice and the roses are probably cliche but added a nice touch," I shrugged nonchalantly.  Watching his reaction was nerve wracking, my palms sweating even more as my fingers tapped my side in anticipation.

Inumaki kept gazing at me without saying another word.  I couldn't tell what his expression was as he just stared at me.  He cradled the bouquet in one arm as his other hand came up to unzip the front of his uniform, his mouth revealed to me.  A shy smile was gracing his face, a light blush across his cheeks.  The sight made me even more sure of what I wanted.

"Inumaki, I really like you and I want to show you that I can be a great partner for you.  Would you allow me to be your boyfriend?" I questioned with a nervous smile.  His own beaming expression brightened even further as his eyes slid to the ground shyly.

"Salmon," he affirmed with a nod.  I've never felt so happy to hear the name of a fish.  Pumping a fist in the air, I cheered with a huge smile.  I wrapped Inumaki up in my arms, the bouquet dropping out of his hold to land on the ground as his hands gripped my shoulders in surprise.  He embraced me back just as tightly.

"I swear I'll do everything I can to treat you right.  Thank you so much Inumaki," I whispered.  He pulled away from my hold as his hands gently held my face.  His eyes scanned me for a moment before he leaned in, his lips carefully brushing against mine.  We were hesitant but the gesture was sweet nonetheless and by the end of it both of our faces were hot and burning.

"Tuna mayo," he whispered, his breath fanning across my mouth.  My forehead leaned against his lovingly, my hands resting on his waist.  This was going to be beautiful, I was sure of it.

"Tuna mayo indeed."
