Chapter 5

Somehow I managed to get to Tuesday without going crazy.

By 5:56 I arrived back at the Korn house, ready to see Jonathan and play the guitar again.

I rang the doorbell and this time Munky answered.

"Oh hey you're that Julia girl right?" He asked.

          "Yup. Is Jonathan around?"

"Yeah he's here." Munky turned around. "JON. HURRY THE HELL UP WOULD YA?"

Jon appears from around the corner. "God I'm right here Shaffer. Hi Julia." He waved.

I waved back and walked over to him.

"Hey Munk, can you go get that guitar?"

"Get it yourself lazy ass." He replied and walked away.

Jonathan flipped him off. "God you're such a fuckin' child, I swear to god."

He turned to me. "You can go over to that room, I'll grab the guitar."

             "Ok."

We started working on different rhythms and easy tunes. I was able to catch on pretty quick since I already had some instrumental knowledge.

"You're starting to sound pretty good." He told me.

          "Thanks."

"Of course my great teaching abilities is the reason you sound so good."

"Humble today, aren't we?" I said, placing the guitar in its case.

"Always." He twisted his dreads. "Ya know, I want to hear you sing." Jon looked at me, waiting for me to just open my mouth and belt it out.

         "I'm sorry you do."

"Ok I doubt you are as bad as you think you are. Besides, I like to think I'm a pretty good singer, I could help you."

I just looked him. "I'm not singing. You can sing. I can't, and I won't. Try me."

         "Ok." Jonathan said.

I assumed his 'Ok' meant, fine, I won't push you, but as I stood up to leave, I saw he was blocking the door.

         "What are you doing?"

"You said 'try me'", he replied. "I'm not moving until you sing. He smirked and crossed his legs.

"Seriously? You're, you're just gonna stand there, and, what, block the door until I agree to sing? Don't you have places to be?" I asked, not sure of what was happening.

"I don't have anywhere to go tonight."

"Why do you want to hear me sing so bad anyway? I told you I can't, so move the fuck on."

"Mostly it's just fun to mess with you, but I also think you can sing."

"You know what, I don't have anything to do either. Let's see who breaks first."

We sat there for half an hour, just staring at each other.

"Oh my god this is ridiculous." I finally broke the silence.

"Pick a song and I'll sing it with you, since you clearly don't want to sing by yourself."

"I DONT WANT TO SING AT ALL."

I walked over to the door and tried to pull it open.

         "Fucking move, I'm not singing."

Luckily for me, Munky came to the door, wanting his guitar back to practice a new riff he thought of. I ran out of the room and to the front door.

"You're coming to my home next week, that way I can still do the stuff I need to get done, whether you're there or not." I said smirking because I had won the battle.

Jonathan rolled his eyes. "Someday I will get you to sing."

"Ha. Doubt it." I ran to my car. Today was definitely interesting. Jonathan was absolutely crazy sometimes, but I have to admit I have been happier since I did that interview. And despite today, I couldn't wait until next Tuesday.

I don't know, was this weird? Sometimes I get an idea and I get hung up on it for too long, I just thought this would be funny.
