[16] ʟᴀᴛᴇ ɴɪɢʜᴛ ᴄᴏɴᴠᴇʀsᴀᴛɪᴏɴs

You were confused.

JJ was supposed to meet you at your place twenty minutes ago, yet he was nowhere to be seen. You furrow your brows, and take a quick glance at the car keys sitting on the table, before standing up from the couch and grabbing them.

The sound of your car door slamming draws the attention of John b, who's laying in one of the hammocks doing god knows what.

"What's up, Y/n? Were we supposed to meet?"

You shake your head and laugh quietly, bringing John b into a quick hug.
"No you're fine. I'm looking for JJ, is he here by any chance?"

John b glances down at you, looking at you in confusion, "He hasn't been here all day. I thought he was with you?"

Where is he then? you wonder.

As if John b could read your mind,
"Maybe he went on a nighttime surf? He's been doing that a lot lately" He questions, while running his hand through his hair.

"Maybe." you respond. You take a quick look at your phone before glancing back up at the sun-kissed teen.
"I think I'll check the beach then. Thank you Johnny." You smile before pulling him into another quick hug.

After finding JJ's belongings out on the beach, your searched for your blonde headed boyfriend.Your eyes quickly found the teen, sitting on his board all the way out in the line up.

The surf was not good tonight, and JJ must have known that, so why would he come out here anyway?

"JJ!" you shout, turning your flash on your  phone and waving it in the air. You catch your boyfriend's attention fairly quick, and before you know it, he's running towards you, surfboard in hand, and water dripping down his face.

"Y/n?"

"JJ did you forget? We were supposed to—" you cut yourself off, your eyes widening as the moonlight hits JJ's face, highlighting a huge purple bruise on his cheek.

" Are you okay?" you ask softly, running your fingers against the bruise lightly, pulling away when he flinches.

"I'm fine." He mutters and places a quick kiss on your cheek.
"I lost track of time sorry."

"JJ you're not fine and you know it." you state before turning and grabbing the towel that rests on the floor and handing it to him. He wraps it around his waist and you grab his hand, pulling him to your car.

For a little while, the only sound that can be heard is the hum of the motor. You take a quick glance at JJ, his head resting against the window,  eyebrows furrowed, and  lips are turned into a frown.

You sigh before turning into an empty parking lot. You turn to face the blonde and begin peppering his face with kisses.

You place one more kiss against his lips before whispering softly, "You don't have to shut me out, or anyone else for that matter."

You run your hand through his soft blonde locks, "I care about you so much."

His eyes meet yours for a split second before he looks down, placing a gentle kiss on your lips. He pulls away, his lips grazing yours lightly before whispering into them, "I'm scared."

"That's okay." you mumble, pulling him your chest. He wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you into him as much as he can, even with the stick shift in the way.

" I love you." He mutters into your chest. You whisper an I love you back, and kiss his hair.

"Why don't you stay with me for a little while hmm? You know my parents won't mind, they love you."

JJ chuckles, shaking his head up and down,
"I'd like that."

"Great!" you cheer, unwrapping your arms from him and turning the car back on. You unroll all the windows and tell JJ to pick his favorite music station.

For the rest of the night, the two of you drive around Outer banks, with the music blasting and the two of you singing at the top of your lungs. Your hand wrapped around his the whole time.
