Round Up

I started following Laventon, but then I spotted something on the ground.

"What is that?" I said.

I came closer to the object, it resembles a phone. I feel a strange power emanating from it. Then a message appeared on the screen. It says "I bestow upon thee this Arc Phone and thy mission: seek out all Pokémon."

I put the phone away, and then ran up to Laventon. Laventon had a sad look on his face. He sighs.

"Alas... Yet another miss!" Laventon said in a disappointing tone.

He turned to me and changed his mood immediately.

"Aha! I'm you've come to my rescue, my new friend from the sky!" Laventon said cheerfully.

"I tried catching my little runaways by tossing some Poké Balls their way, but I'm not the best at this sort of thing, you see..." Laventon said.

"Poké Balls?" I asked.

"I'd love to give you a go at it, but perhaps I should tell you a bit about these three first?" Laventon said.

He points at the owl.

"Now, that one is Rowlet!" Laventon said.

"Row?" Rowlet said.

Oh, so Pokémon speak by saying there names

"Rowlet can photosynthesize like a plant, and apparently it battles using its sharp feathers." Laventon said.

We look over at the echidna hoping around.

"That one over there is Cyndaquil!" Laventon said.

"The fire burning on Cryndaquil's back will flare up whenever it is surprised or irate." Laventon said.

"Cynda!" Cyndaquil said.

Then I saw the otter running around the pond.

"The Pokémon near the pond is Oshawott." Laventon said.

"Oshawott naps while floating on the water, and it can battle using the shell-like object on its belly!" Laventon said.

"Oshawott!" Oshawott said.

So, Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott. Interesting.

"Oh my! I nearly forgot to cover the most crucial thing - how to go about catching Pokémon!" Laventon said.

"Here you are, my boy: Poké Balls! Throw these at Pokémon to catch them." Laventon said as he gave the Poké Balls to me.

"Okay." I said.

I ran towards Cyndaquil, then I threw the Poké Ball and hit it. The Cyndaquil went in, and the ball started to shake, then it sent out a little firework. Did it mean I caught it? I did the same thing to Rowlet and Oshawott. Then I gave them to Laventon.

"Thank you very much, indeed! Oh, what relief to have them all back." Laventon said.

"You see, the three Pokémon you caught have only just arrived at the village to help with our research. They won't listen to anyone." Laventon said.

"And as I mentioned, they bolted from the village almost as if they knew you'd come falling..." Laventon said.

"But I must say, Jesse, I was taken aback by how well you use Poké Balls!" Laventon said.

"How is it that you catch Pokémon so ably when you've only just arrived here?" Laventon asked.

"Lucky, I guess..." I said.

"One can't help but think there's a reason you appeared here and now..." Laventon said.

I pulled out the Arc Phone and show it to him. He read the message.

"That object is an "Arc Phone," you say...?" Laventon said.

"What an odd device. Could it be... guiding you somehow?" Laventon said.

I put the phone back in my pocket.

"If you'll indulge me for a moment, there's something I'd like to share with you." Laventon said.

"You see, I have a dream - to compile this region's first complete record of its Pokémon!" Laventon said.

"We in the field call such a catalog a Pokédex." Laventon said.

"Yes, a proper Pokédex is a wonderful work of research, containing detailed records of all the Pokémon to be found in a region!" Laventon said.

"Come now! What do you say? Shall we help one another out, my boy?" Laventon said.

"You've convinced me!" I said.

"Then whoever and from wherever you may be, I welcome you with open arms!" Laventon said.

"First things first - let's get these Pokémon back to the village." Laventon said.

"Then we'll sort out your lodgings and find you some proper clothes and a meal and all that." Laventon said.

"Follow me, then! Onward to Jubilife Village!" Laventon said.

We started walking to the village.

(Who do you think what starter is Jesse going to pick?)
