~ When He Chose To Hang Out With You And Your Siblings In A Arcade ~

You and your siblings walked into the hotel game room, surprised to find a few arcade machines placed at the front of the room.

Jennie: "Woah!" Jennie, your little sister, went running toward them.

Jennie: "Can we play?"

You stepped closer to the games and inspected them slowly. Two of them caught your eye. A simple claw machine with stuffed plushies inside, and another similar game with keychains of various bands.

Taehyung: "This is so cool." You heard your little brother, Taehyung, comment. You leaned against the glass windows of the second machine when one of the prizes peaked your interest.

Slowly, you turned back to your siblings and grinned.

Y/N: "Well? Who wants to play first?"

Unfortunately, you didn't realize how expensive these games were. Three tokens for one turn?

That's almost ten tokens for just three tries!

Plus, you didn't have that many tokens to begin with. After counting what you had, you decided to let your brother and sister have all the fun, seeing how thrilled and eager they were to play. You saved a few tokens and hid them in your back pocket for later use, making sure your siblings didn't notice.

With your arms crossed, you chuckled to yourself while watching Taehyung and Jennie argue on who got to play first. Being the eldest of three, you were used to such situations.

It was pretty entertaining when they weren't at each other's necks. Jennie was the youngest at 16 years old. Taehyung was 17 and you were 19. We may all be grown up now, but those two still act like little kids. You don't mind their childish behavior.

Suddenly, you felt someone's presence behind you. The right side of your body felt weirdly warmer than usual.

???: "Whatcha guys doing?" Someone voiced right next to your ear.

You jumped, glaring at the familiar face that was just inches away from yours a few seconds ago. Jungkook simply laughed at your expression. His eyes crinkled and his signature bunny smile was plastered on his face.

Jungkook: "You're so easy to scare, Y/N." He chuckled.

Your heart picks up it's pace, but you pretend to look indifferent. Before you decided to visit the game room, you overheard some of Jungkook's friends invite him to hang out with them.

However, and to your surprise, he declined. He claimed to already have plans with you.

You still didn't understand why and it bothered you. Who would give up partying to hang out with some boring girl and her siblings?

Ignoring his comment, you looked straight ahead.

Y/N: "Jennie and Taehyung got a little too excited." You nodded your head towards them. Jungkook looked at you puzzled.

Jungkook: "Are you not gonna play?"

You shook your head.

Y/N: "It's not really my thing."

You glance over to see Jungkook rummaging around in his pockets before pulling out his own tokens.

Jungkook: "Here. I bought way too much earlier with the others." He said, referring to his group of friends before extending his hand out to you.

You pushed his hand back politely.

Y/N: "Thanks, but don't worry. I'd rather you use them instead." You smiled.

He searched your face for a second. You thought he caught onto your little lie. But then he smiles, lowering his hand.

Jungkook: "Alright. I'll go help Jennie and Taehyung, then."

You watched as he approached them, showing off his tokens while they cheered. A smile grew on your lips as they began to have fun.

After a short while, your legs began to grow numb. You found a seat nearby and sat down, sighing.

It seemed that no matter how much you tried, your eyes seemed to always be following Jungkook. Maybe it was his dazzling smile, or the way his eyes lit up when something exciting happened. You always knew Jungkook was good looking, but honestly it should've been a crime. His features were so striking to you.

From the position you were in, you could only see his side profile. The way his eyebrows arched, the way his jaw was structured, the way his cheeks lifted when he smiled, everything.

His hair was combed neatly today so that it didn't fall much into his eyes, which you had to admit, was definitely a good look. He was only wearing a simple white tee and a pair of jeans, yet he managed to stand out in that large room.

Suddenly he laughed, and without acknowledging it, you began to smile at yourself. Then for a brief moment, his eyes caught onto yours. Your heart leaped.

Maybe it was your imagination, but his smile seemed to widen even more.

Immediately, you averted your eyes. You didn't want to look away, but knew that you had to.

Jungkook was your friend. That's all it is. In fact, you weren't quite sure why he decided to befriend you. The two of you lived completely different lives. One day, Jungkook decided to talk to you in class. At first, you thought it was a joke.

Annoyed, you tried to avoid him. But Jungkook was persistent and wouldn't give up until you finally spoke back to him. You then realized that he truly wanted to be your friend.

You were both opposites of each other. He was a social butterfly, while you preferred to be alone most of the time. He came from a wealthy family, while you didn't. He was talented in almost everything he did. Meanwhile, you were still trying to figure out what you were even good at.

It hurt because not only was he nice toward you, but also to the people you cared for. He got along with your siblings well and treated them like his own. And he was always concerned for you, more than he had to be. Not to mention your parents. They absolutely adore him. But the reality is, You just weren't for him. He deserved more. Much more.

Lost in your thoughts, you didn't realize your siblings were done playing until Jennie came rushing toward you.

Jennie: "Look what Jungkook got me!" She gushed, pushing the little plushie in front of you. It was a stuffed dolphin with a little bow on it's head. You smiled at her.

Y/N: "How cute." You turned toward Taehyung.

Y/N: "What about you, buddy? Did you get anything?"

He lazily pulled out a keychain from his pocket. You squinted my eyes a bit, making out the logo of his favorite band. BTS. Taehyung smirked as he hung it in the air.

Taehyung: "Who knew Jungkook was good at all this stuff? He got it on the first try!"

Jungkook chuckled from behind them.

Jungkook: "Practice. It all comes down to practice."

Jennie: "I'm hungry now." Jennie piped.

Y/N: "Why don't you guys go grab something to eat then? I'll wait back here." You suggested the three of them. Taehyung raised his eyebrow at you.

Taehyung: "You're not hungry?" He asked.

You shook your head.

Y/N: "Not really..." It was true. You didn't have much of an appetite since this morning. They nodded their heads before walking past you. Jungkook was about to follow them when he stopped mid-way and faced you.

Jungkook: "Are you sure? Do you want me to grab you something?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows together. There he goes, always sure you're okay. You chuckled at him and pulled out your phone.

Y/N: "I'm good. I'll just be on my phone for now." You held the device up to sound more convincing.

Y/N: "You should hurry along before they leave you behind."

He grimaced clearly, hesitating before he nodded and walked off. Once he was gone, you sighed in relief. There was no way you were going to face the embarrassment if he found out what you were doing.

Tucking your phone away, you got up from your seat and walked over to the game Taehyung was playing. The keychain you spotted was still in it's place at the corner of the machine. Reaching into your back pocket, you looked around to make sure the coast was clear before inserting the tokens into the machine slot and pressing 'play'.

Unfortunately, this was a lot harder than you thought. You cursed under your breath when you lost a couple rounds. How the heck did Jungkook manage to do this?

It wasn't until you heard footsteps approaching that you turned over to see a smirking Jungkook, clearly amused at the sigh in front of him.

Jungkook: "You know, you could've just said that you wanted to play." He snickered.

You felt your face warming up. You hated blushing more than anything, especially in front of people.

Y/N: "S-shut up.." With a grin on his face, he strode over so that he was next to you. His shoulder brushed against yours as you both looked at the machine.

Y/N: "Where's Tae and Jennie?" You asked, trying not to focus on how damn close he was to you and on the game in front of you.

Jungkook: "They're eating in the dining room."

Y/N: "What about you? Aren't you supposed to be eating with them?"

You felt him shrug.

Jungkook: "I didn't feel like it."

That's a lie. He probably came back because he couldn't leave you by yourself. But before you could argue, he moved closer to the window of the machine and asked.

Jungkook: "Which one were you trying to get?"

Dumbfounded, you eyed him before looking at the prize.

Y/N: "That one." You gulped, pointing to the corner. The key chains were encased in colorful ball-like shells but with your keen eyes, you were able to make out the faint outline of the logo you wanted. You knew Jungkook's eyesight wasn't that great, but you prayed he wouldn't notice what it is. You mentally sighed when he didn't.

Jungkook: "Okay..." He straightened himself before inserting his tokens into the machine.

Jungkook: "Here."

Expecting him to take over, you were about to step to the side when you felt him move behind you. Your back was now up against his chest. His arms came around, almost embracing you in a hug before placing his hands over yours. You felt goosebumps run along your arms when he moved them together over the control. His head was now above your left shoulder as he leaned in.

You froze.

Y/N: "What-" You were about to question him, but if you turned around and faced him, you would probably end up kissing his cheek. The idea made you blush even harder.

He wordlessly started to move the controls, focusing on the game. However, you couldn't focus at all. What kind of face was he making right now? You could feel his chest move up and down while he breathed, the warmth of his body melting onto yours.

You didn't know how to react.

Jungkook: "Bingo..." He said, pulling himself back and away from you. Suddenly you felt cold, but dismissed the thought quickly. The ball had dropped into the empty slot and you reached down to pick it up.

Y/N: "T-thanks." You stuttered, putting it away quickly.

Jungkook: "Do you wanna try the other one?" He simply continued, as if what just happened didn't phase him at all. That made your heart squeeze. Maybe he was used to doing things like that with his other friends. You felt like an idiot. What were you so worked up about?

Jungkook: "Come on." He began to walk over to the next machine.

Jungkook: "I'll pay for it."

Your eyes widen.

Y/N: "What? No!" You reached into your pocket to pull out your wallet, but you ended up fumbling and dropping it on the floor. You crouched down and picked it up, opening and flipping the wallet upside-down to let whatever was inside fall into my hand. But, only a gum wrapper and a few old clips fell into your palm. You looked up to see Jungkook suppressing a smile on his face, clearly amused.

Y/N: "Don't laugh..." You mumbled, plopping onto the ground. He raised his hands in surrender before joining you on the ground.

Jungkook: "I won't." He promised, lying down on his side while propping his upper body up on his elbow.

Jungkook: "But you sure you don't want to play?"

You gave him the 'yes, Jungkook. I'm 100% sure' look, to which he grinned at. You didn't understand how he could smile at everything. Did he ever get angry? Or sad? It's almost like he was happy all the time. You knew that wasn't true, but he sure made it believable.

You sat with your legs extended out in front of you. You were tired of feeling like you were overreacting over everything he did. It felt like you were the only one catching feelings, and you had to end it before it was too late.

Y/N; "Jungkook? Why are you so nice to me?"

He looked up, slightly surprised. His eyebrows scrunched together.

Jungkook: "What do you mean?"

You looked down at your lap, suddenly nervous.

Y/N: "You always go out of your way to do things for me." You pointed out.

Y/N: "Why?"

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw him reach out and take the paper clips out of your hands before fiddling with them. It took him a few seconds before he spoke.

Jungkook: "I'm just a nice person." He said, but you know he was just teasing. That wasn't the answer you wanted.

Y/N: "You know what I mean..." This time, you faced him.

His usual smile still lingered on his face.

Jungkook: "Well, I'll do anything for the people I care about."

You found yourself getting frustrated. Not with him, but with yourself for not being able to voice out your thoughts. Why was this so hard?

Then you decided, screw it. You might as well go all out.

Y/N: "That's what I'm asking, Jungkook. Why do you care? Why are you nice to someone like me? You have plenty of other friends around you. In fact, you could be having the time of your life with them right now. You could have easily ditched me and joined them. But you're here...with me. Why?"

You tried to search his face for an answer. You could see the realization dawn on him that you had heard his conversation with his friends. You have to admit, you felt bad for eavesdropping, but it didn't defeat the purpose of your point.

For a moment, there was silence, and all you could hear was the beating of your own heart. You did it. You finally said it.

But why were you afraid of the answer?

Jungkook looked at you with such a calculative look that it almost scared you. His jaw was locked and he was no longer smiling.

Jungkook: "You really think that?" He asked quietly.

Jungkook; "That we aren't close?"

Your heart clenched in your chest. Why did he suddenly look so sad?

Y/N: "I don't know..."

You thought back to the times you've spent with Jungkook. You didn't hang out often, but when you did, it was fun. Sometimes you would stay up and talk about whatever came to mind. Jungkook would listen to you rant and talk about your worries, always being supportive and offering you his best advice. He would also confide in you about things that he wondered about. However, you had always thought you weren't the only person to hear this from him. He was important to you, but were you really important to him?

The look on his face suggested that you were. And this time, you believed it.

Y/N: "I'm sorry..." You whispered.

Y/N: "It's just...I thought it was easy for you to get close to anyone. You would always do so much for me, but in the end, I'm not anyone special."

The words were almost too painful for you to say. Jungkook's eyes softened.

Jungkook: "That's not true." He said quickly.

Jungkook: "I wouldn't be able to say half the things I say to you to anyone else. You're special, Y/N."

Your eyes followed him as he placed the paper clips on your bare thigh, since you were wearing shorts. His fingers were long and nimble as he placed them on your thigh one at a time.

Jungkook: "You've always been special..." He voiced, lifting his eyes to meet yours.

Jungkook: "You mean more to me than you think you do."

Suddenly it felt like the world around you was slowing down. The way his fingers brushed against your thigh left your skin burning at the brief contact. By now, your heart was beating so loud, you started to think Jungkook might hear it.

Y/N: "Don't do that." You looked him in the eyes.

He tilted his head to the side.

Jungkook: "Do what?"

Y/N: "Be so nice to me." You shook your head, muttering the next few words.

Y/N: "I might get the wrong idea..."

Jungkook shifted himself so that he was closer to you. His hand reached out behind your ear. Your breath was caught in your throat as he began to play with strands of your hair, letting it fall and slip between his fingers. His next words seemed to echo in the room.

Jungkook: "What if I want you to get the wrong idea?"

You blinked once. You blinked twice. You must have been hearing things. There was not was no way he could possibly...mean that, right? He must be joking...

Before you could ask what he meant, your annoying brother's voice interrupted from behind you.

Taehyung: "What are you guys doing?" Taehyung walked up to both of you, followed by Jennie.

Jungkook pulled back to his original position, his signature bunny smile plastered on his face. It left you in awe how fast he can change.

Jungkook: "There was something in your sister's hair." He explained.

Jungkook: "I think she would've freaked if I told her it was a bug."

Your eyes grew wider.

Y/N: "WHAT?!" You frantically used your hands to shake out your hair. Your siblings laughed at your reaction, and not long after, you heard Jungkook join them.

Jungkook: "Just kidding." Jungkook laughed, making you glare at him, but shortly crack a smile of your own when you saw him smile from ear to ear.

This boy is going to be the death of you...
