Chapter 3: (Olivia's POV)

My phone was ringing in my clutch while I hung around in the bathroom, sitting on the couch with my heels off. I groaned, "Hello?"

"Where are you?"

"In the bathroom," I answered, already pulling my heels on.

"Still? You left like twenty minutes ago?" he said.

"Actually, eighteen," I corrected.

"Whatever, Oliver Twist. Get over here, your pretty little ex is getting suspicious since you haven't been seen with me in a minute," he said.

"Okay, bellboy, hang in there," I said before hanging up. "Nice nickname, bellboy," I mumbled to myself while walking out. I walked over, spotting him at the bar. I rolled my eyes at him before plastering a smile onto my face. "Hey," I grinned.

"Hi," he smiled, still standing at the bar.

"Do you always stand at bars without drinking?" I asked, sitting down.

"Do you drink where your parents are? Exactly, no," he said, twirling a strand of my hair around his finger.

"Don't touch the hair, Miles, it took a while to style," I said while adjusting my heels.

"You touched my hair earlier," he said.

"Right, you were seething," I snorted. I sat up straight, propping my elbows up on the counter behind me. "What now? Where'd he go?" I asked.

"Somewhere, I don't know," he sighed, sitting beside me. "Olive," he said. I turned to look at him. "How are we going to pretend in front of them without having everyone see us at school?" he asked.

I opened my mouth to give him a witty answer but nothing came to mind. If you knocked on my head right now, it would sound hollow. "Huh, I didn't think of that," I mumbled. We both seemed to realize and looked at each other in horror, "I'm not pretending you like you in front of everyone," we said in sync.

"That's ironic because I think that's exactly what we'll have to do," he scoffed, looking around.

I sighed, running my hand through my hair in frustration.

What the hell did I get us into?

"For once, I am actually sorry for you," I chuckled.

"Why's that?"

"I annoy you more than you annoy me," I shrugged.

"Oh, so you're aware of it then?"

I nodded, "It's just me being petty."

He rolled his eyes, "Right."

I was looking around, observing the party when I glanced over Annabelle who stood fairly far from us, but she was staring right at us, or more specifically, Ethan. "Oh, look. Your haunted doll girlfriend is staring at you... like a haunted doll would. Seriously, why would someone name their daughter Annabelle?" I asked, scrunching up my nose in disgust.

"She's never even seen Annabelle, she's scared of horror movies," he said.

"Annabelle isn't a scary movie," I frowned.

"Exactly, so I hope you're understanding what a wuss she is," he mumbled, running his hand through his hair.

"I thought you'd be the wuss. I don't find that movie scary, so I'm glad you don't," I snickered.

"Very funny. That movie isn't scary even though it's meant to be. I just don't get it," he shrugged.

"Me neither," I nodded.

Did we just agree on something?

We both seemed to find that weird and looked at each other. "Don't do that again," I said.

"Do what?"

"Don't agree with me again. For argument's sake."

"You're the one who agreed with me," he argued.

"There we go," I nodded.

"Is she still looking?" he asked, looking straight at me.

"I don't know, I haven't checked," I shrugged.

"Then check, girlfriend," he smirked.

I casually took another look around the place and sure enough, she was still staring. "Yup, still creeping," I sighed.

"Where'd your ex go?" he asked.

"There he is," I said, noticing as he walked up to Annabelle. "You know what would be extremely fun?" I asked while he grabbed my stool and pulled it closer to his. "Seeing you fight with Justin," I said jokingly.

"I could arrange for that," he said, tucking my hair behind my ear, staring at me. This whole time, he's been staring at me, if I don't reciprocate some sign of affection, it won't look believable.

"Maybe you should," I said, pulling his hand down and locking his fingers with mine.

"Maybe I will. We'll do the whole horrible ex vs perfect boyfriend thing," he smirked.

"Hmm, don't let me down," I said, looking at him.

"Hmm, I won't," he replied.

"Can I ask you something?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He nodded. "Why did you get a dare to kiss me? Who gave that to you?" I asked out of curiosity. Why was it me? I wasn't the hot girl, nor was I the prude. I was quite a normal girl.

"Your ex-boyfriend," he answered.

"Justin gave you that dare?" He nodded in response. "Why?" I questioned.

He chuckled dryly, "No, I can't tell you that," he shook his head.

"You're gonna have to. You're stuck with me at this party and for a while here on, I'll get it out of you eventually," I shrugged, running my fingers through his hair.

"I'll tell you if you agree to never speak of it again as if you listened to that about the kiss but whatever," he rolled his eyes.

"Go on," I said.

"I thought you were pretty," he shrugged.

I laughed, "You think I'm pretty? No way."

"Okay," he said nonchalantly.

"Seriously? You think I'm pretty?" I asked.

"I did. You are. I do think you're pretty. Just bitchier than I'd like you to be," he said.

"Fair enough, I am a bitch. To you."

"Yeah, why?" he asked.

"You stole my first kiss, I have every reason to hate you," I shrugged, "What doesn't make sense is for you to hate me. I've never done anything to you. Everything was me retaliating for something you already did," I explained.

"Yeah, but everything I did was because I hated you," he reasoned.

"So find the reason that sits in your heart, tell me when you do," I said, brushing the eyelash off his cheek. "You have a wish," I said, "I'm stealing it." I made my wish and blew the lash off the back of my hand.

"Real mature, Olive."

"Thanks," I nodded.

"They've been staring and whispering for a solid ten minutes, what do you think they're saying?" he asked, fidgeting with my hair.

"I think they're saying it's bullshit. Touching my hair every now and then and holding your hand isn't convincing them enough," I clicked my tongue in frustration.

"So, what do we do?" he asked.

"I don't know," I shrugged. We both saw as they started making their way over to us and while I was trying to stay calm, Ethan was panicking. It was a sight to see. "Shit, they're looking," he mumbled.

"What?"

"They're looking. They're coming over, Olivia," he said, turning to me.

"What do you want me to do?" I asked, his panicked demeanour making me giggle.

"I don't know, we're supposed to be dating and in love aren't we?" he asked.

"Yeah, so?" I asked. He stood up and kicked his barstool back. "What are you doing?" I inquired, looking up at him in confusion.

"Leaving," he said.

"You little shit," I laughed, "Just stop freaking out," I said as they came up to us.

"Hey, guys," Annabelle said.

"Hi," I smiled.

"Are you two up to anything? We're a little bored," Justin said. I ignored his existence and looked around.

"Maybe we can all chat," the haunted doll shrugged. Honestly, she looks like a haunted barbie but like in a cool way. I don't know how to explain it.

"We were actually going to head away, get a minute to ourselves," Ethan cut in.

"Is that so?" Justin asked.

Ethan looked down at me. Everyone looked at me. "Yeah, we were actually just heading off," I shrugged while standing up.

"Oh, where to?" barbie asked.

"Outside the hotel," I answered her. This time when she looked me in the eyes, there was a dare in them. I took her challenge pretty openly.

"I'm sorry, just out of curiosity, how long have you two been together?" she asked with the fakest smile. Even barbie doesn't smile that fakely.

"We don't really see you two hanging out much," Justin said.

"Well, nobody has ever seen you two together either, isn't that right, Justin?" Ethan questioned, "Or is it suddenly a secret you two are making public here?" he smirked.

"It's just a question, Ethan," she said, her voice going three times lower, ten times more sultry. I wanted to throw up.

"It's just an answer, Annabelle," he smiled.

Where did we start when I said this lie and where the hell are we headed?

Ethan leaned down beside my ear, "I would kiss you to get on his nerve but he'd probably get a boner again, can we leave?" he asked.

I couldn't help it this time, I laughed and that only pissed them off more.

"Something funny?" she asked.

"Enjoy the night, you two," I said and then we left.
