6. 'A Normal Response.'

She gripped onto Finn's hand tightly, her fingernails digging into his skin. Her other hand was holding onto the boat so that those gross lake creatures wouldn't be able to pull the two of them off. She felt her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to get away from that thing. Its slimy hand had a tight grip on her ankle as it tried to drag her into the water, she felt something sharp scrap into the skin on her leg causing a small amount of blood to flow out of her leg.

The creature pulled more managing to get some of her leg into the water, she felt a sharp pain as the open cut touched the water, she held her breath trying not to be too loud worried that maybe more would come. "Ovg ullw.." The creature screeched. It felt like she was going to be ripped in half by the creature and Finn both pulling her in opposite directions.

Finn kept a hold of her hand as he moved closer to her, he put his arm around her torso tightly, it felt like she was being crushed as he pulled her fully into the boat, after a while the creature had ended up letting go of her leg fully. "Yv nliv tvmgov, blf hvirlfhob xzm'g yv gszg sfmtib zoivzwb." Finn spoke in a more mean voice to the creature that grabbed Eliza's leg. Eliza sat close to Finn on the boat staring at her injuries.

"Miss Eliza, are you okay?" Finn said in a much nicer tone as he put a hand on her back. "Looks like it must hurt." He said smiling as he removed his hand from her back and rowed the boat towards to direction he wanted them to go. She felt more anxious after what had just happened. "I'm fine.." she said quietly, her heart still pounding in her chest. "I can fix it when I get home." She said, her voice was louder but sounded a bit tired. "Sure." He responded, his voice not having too much emotion in it. She couldn't help but feel weird about his response, the way he said sure, and how he didn't even bother asking if he could find some bandages or trying to actually help.

"Um, why did those things come anyway? The oar was in the water, why didn't they come sooner." She asked. "Well they mostly notice bright objects, and if humans or animals touched the water they'd have been able to smell it. So we would've been fine if that bracelet wasn't left on the boat in the first place." He replied, his voice back to being cheerful. "Why'd you have the bracelet in the first place though? It doesn't look like something you'd wear." She asked, her voice sounding more serious. "Someone gave it to me." He said, his voice cheerful. "Wfny yizg, nliv jfvhgrlmh yvxzfhv lu svi." He said in an annoyed tone under his breath as he kept rowing the boat.  "I have another question.. what's with your eyes? They changed.." She asked trying not to be too rude but it just seemed so strange, but he was strange in general. This whole situation was strange. "Oh, my eyes? It's just a side effect... it's annoying really. I can't really say much about it." Finn smiled as he turned around to look at her. He noticed she wasn't too comfortable with him right now.

She couldn't help but keep thinking about how he didn't seem to care too much about her injuries like a normal person would care at least a little when another human is injured, even if they didn't know them well. "Did I do something? Or forget something? I'm not used to visitors so I apologize if I did.." He sounded concerned about her not trusting him or her disliking him. "It's uh- well are you used to getting help when you're injured or helping when someone's injured? Like checking if it's bad or something?" She fidgeted with the ruffles on her dress. "Oh, hsrg. I'm sorry Miss Eliza, I guess it's been a while since I've dealt with people with injuries or anything such as that. I just... forgot." He said.
