[8] Dead Wolves

WAY DOWN WE GO

Scott smiled at the memory before sighing in defeat. "fine but I'm not letting you see the body when it's dug up." he turned towards stiles as the boys started to dig the hole. "Wasn't planning on it." she smiled as she bent down to grab the last shovel and walked to the boys.

Scott paused, glancing around. "Something's different."

"Different how?"

Scott shook his head before looking back to the road, listening for any sounds. "Let's get this over with." Stiles followed him and angel around the house to the edge of the woods. Waving them over, Scott kicked at the dirt on the ground noticing how to lose and gravely it is.

They started digging, piles of dirt landing on the grass nearby. "Oh before I forget," stiles huffed taking a pause too catch his breath, "Angel you uh- you left your hair tie at mine, I found it whilst I was tidying up." Scotts eyes widened at the thought that entered his mind.

"What!"

The brunette girl huffed before taking in a good long breath, preparing herself. "One, stiles next time you speak try to think of how it sounds before you say it to stop this from happening," she pointed between the trio, "Two, Scott it's not what your thinking, like at all. When I stayed at his house I was going to tie my hair up for school but got distracted by you and your werewolf ass going all teen wolf on us." she exhaustedly breathed out. "Now will the two of you do less talking and more digging before we get caught? Because if we get caught I'll make sure Derek has both of your heads." she stated, blowing the hair that had fallen on her face from out of her view and continuing to shovel the dirt.

"Yes ma'am." stiles scoffed.

They worked fast, Scott pulled up his sleeves as sweat started to drip down his forehead. "This is taking too long," he complained, huffing loudly.

"Just keep going." stiles spoke as he tossed the dirt back.

"What if he comes back?"

"Then we get the hell out of here," Angel explained.

"What if he catches us?"

"I have a plan for that." stiles commented.

"Which is?" stiles paused his digging for a moment before taking a glance towards angel, "You run one way. I and angel run the other and whoever he catches first? Too bad." Scott huffed annoyed at stiles. "I hate that plan." Angel scooped up a huge chunk of dirt and chucked it backwards, her hair flipping back over her shoulder. Stiles watched her for a second and swore that time paused, he looked at her with huge eyes, she was so hot that he thought he might explode, Scott nudged him before whispering

'Dude, can you at least try to control yourself while I'm right next to you?'

Stiles face scrunched in confusion before realising.

They dug faster and harder. Muscles burning as stiles adjusts himself every couple of seconds, Scott kept throwing nervous glances to the driveway with a worry that Derek would come back and rip out their throats.

"Stop, stop, stop!" stiles before dropping the shovel, he clambered down into the hole and felt around. He found a dark fabric in amongst the dirt making them all dig with their hands until they finally uncovered a black bag that was tied in tight knots.

Stiles dug at the knot with his clammy hands, trying his best to get them undone. "Hurry." Scott groaned in a panic. "I'm trying. Did he have to tie the thing in nine hundred knots?" he complained causing Scott to grow agitated.

"I'll do it."

They all clawed at the drawstring, almost frantically trying to get the knot to come undone before finally, it loosened. The black bag fluttered open to reveal the body inside except it's not a dead girl.

But the body of a wolf.

Stiles and Scott both screamed and jumped back out of the hole.

"What the hell is that?!" Stiles screamed in fear.

Angel stood in the hole, shocked. "It's a wolf."

"I can see that." he spoke sarcastically, "I thought you said you smelled blood? As in human blood?"

Angel pulled back the edge of the bag to get a better look. "I told you something was different." The remains of the wolf peered through, its bloodshot dead eyes starting soullessly up at her, a tangle of and blood-crusted fur covering it. "This doesn't make sense." Stiles gulped nervously.

"We gotta get out of here." Angel finally spoke up, a slight jump in her voice. She didn't dare to break eye contact with the wolf in front of her, Its dead eyes piercing into hers. "Yeah, okay, help me cover this up." Stiles reached out for the shovel when he noticed a purple flower coming from the ground. It stuck out of the dirt as if it had only recently been planted there.

"What's wrong?" Scott questioned. "Do you see that flower?" he explained while pointing towards the flower.

Angel stared up from the wolf to see what styles were looking at. "What about it?"

The petite girl spoke in a hushed whisper, "Wolfsbane."

Scott turned to her, "what's that?" he questioned. "Haven't you ever seen The Wolf Man?" stiles said annoyed, "Lon Chaney Jr.? Claude Rains? The original classic werewolf movie!?" he frailed his arms around frantically as Scott shook his head. "You are so unprepared for this." he sighed and got up from his crouched position, he kneeled next to the flower, gently feeling around the stem before pulling it up, revealing that the flower that sprouted out of what appeared to be a very thin but strong twine interlaced from its stem and root.

Scott took several cautious steps back as Stiles continued to unravel the purple-flowered rope. Soil fell around his shoes while he walked in circles around the hole the Wolfsbane rope leading back to the grave in an almost perfect spiral as it shined a deep red.

Angelica felt the aura around her change almost dangerously as her breath hitched feeling her lungs get slightly heavier, only it wasn't from fear because she didn't feel scared, she almost felt ill.

I never feel ill.

It was true Angelina McCall never felt ill, not once.

Finally, at about ten yards out, Stiles reached the end of the rope with a pile of it gathered into his arms, he turned to Angel when he noticed the look on her face, "S- Stiles-" she stammered in fear before stiles turned back to the hole.

The rope slid out of Stiles's hands, falling at his feet as his eyes widened.

The wolf was no longer a wolf.

it was the upper half of the girl.
