Chapter 32: The Start

The time seemed to drag on in the lesson while (Y/n) pondered as to what had gone down near the beginning of the class. Jin hadn't returned after his excision out of class and began suspecting that there was something awry. However, in her daydreaming ponder she just barely caught the sound of a pair of sharp and shocked gasps from behind. As (Y/n) turned around to inspect what had caused the disturbance, she noticed the offended and bewildered expressions of the twins giving each other. Usually in these type of circumstances, the girls would usually be seen giving each other mocking comments ar rude remarks as passive-aggressive behaviour. Instead, they returned one another's appearances with seething glares and distrusting looks. Every vein and muscle in their body visibly protruded and added onto the look of aggression and offence, making it seem they would begin clawing the other's eyes out. But as they noticed the astonished and bewildered expression on their friend's face, the twins took the liberty of turning away from each other and even scooching away in their chairs to put as much distance between them as possible. They focused their passion on their work as they stabbed their pens into the blank pages.

"Where are you going?" (Y/n) noticed the more feminine twin quietly trying to exit the scene, with a despondent gaze, after the lesson was over. Lala stopped in her tracks and worriedly turn to face the two girls.

"I-I'm just going to go and freshen up. Don't wait for me, I'll take a w-while!" Before she could be inquired further on her reasoning, she ran away and disappeared into the crowd of students.

"Ok then...? So, what do you want to do?" Saki looked at the female with an uncomfortable and forced grin.

"Actually...I also have some business to take care of. But I'll catch up with you after school!" (Y/n) made a move to grab her and demand for a proper explanation, but the tomboy used her agility to flee from the confused girl.

"Ok, I guess I'm alone then." The female sighed, querying over what the two sisters had discussed behind her, and remember she in actuality had options on what to do at this time. 'I know! I can go find Kenzan!' She was about to launch her search for the boy when another realisation struck her. 'Oh yeah...I need to help Ren out for the performance. And then I'm going to need to give him the information on the time and staging.' She gave out a heavy exhale and disappointedly leant against the wall. 'What should I do?'

"Jin, are you sure you don't want to go home? You know this could cause more problems for your condition." Ren attempted to persuade his friend who continued to deny the choice of help.

"I'm alright...it stopped." Ren nodded doubtfully towards his friend who even at that moment seemed to be holding in a few chokes.

"You can't keep excusing this as just regular coughs. I told you, this could be treated easily if you just-" Jin quickly shook his head anxiously.

"No no, I'll be fine. I was sick not so long ago so it's only na-" the boy interrupted himself when another belching hack emerged from inside. "E-excuse me." He dashed towards the medical office leaving a worried looking Ren behind.

The dark raven exhaled at his friend's actions and considered following him to make sure he would get the proper aid, but knew he was already late for practising his piece for Halloween. As he headed for the music room, a sense of despair seemed to crawl it's way into his subconscious. He was sure (Y/n) wasn't going to be there to help him. She would most definitely chose to be with her love interest instead of him, he was sure of that much. 'Kaito better be right about his plan, I can't stand that guy, coming along to take (Y/n) away from me. He better keep his disgusting hand off her.' He bit down on his lip to restrain a growl and tusked in clear irritation. As he came to a stop in front of the music room, he prepared for the wave of disappointment that will follow the revelation of the girl's absence.

"Took you long enough! And I was in such a rush to clean this thing as a surprise!" The boy jumped at the familiar vocals of his female friend. (Y/n) was currently sitting with her arms crossed and an impatient look on her face, tapping her foot annoyingly. Ren had to do a retake at the sudden surprise and ended up being taken aback further. He wasn't sure whether to be surprised at the actual appearance of the girl, or the spotless and polished ebony piano that's was shimmering clear. "Well come on! The sooner we start, the sooner we finish." (Y/n) beckoned the stunned boy to approach the room.

At first, he was hesitant in entering, and even when finally taking the first steps, he continued to trail his eyes along the new-looking instrument. "D-did you do this?"

The female glanced at the large piano and proudly smiled at her handy work, "Yep! Sorry if it seems like a rushed cleaning, I was afraid you would come in before I was done so I had to do a quick finish." The girl felt a sense of self-sufficiency at her first piano cleaning and expected Ren to be at least appreciative of her endeavours. What she didn't expect was when two hands clung to her waist as her body was flung into the air with an energetic speed.

"This is fantastic, (Y/n)! I don't know what to say!" He started spinning the girl in mid-air, causing chuckled and laughs to be heard from her.

"Ok ok, put me down!" She tapped his arms to enforce her request and he complied with her order. He set the girl back down, though he refused to remove his hands that still clung onto the female.

"You're a star (Y/n)! I'm absolutely speechless." He rested his chin on top of the girl's head and fondly nuzzled her hair.

"It's not a big deal, I just quickly ran over it with a duster and a damp cloth and done." She attempted to pull away but started feeling a tad bit uncomfortable at the close proximity of their bodies as the male didn't budge from his position. She shot him an obfuscated look to signal her uneasiness.

"So you'll actually stay here?" He hopefully crossed his fingers for a confirming answer.

"I don't know, I just came here to surprise you and give you the arcanum on what we should work on." The boy raised his eyebrow at the word he had only heard Kaito use. "It's my word of the day, I've been waiting 5 hours to use it. Anyway, I'll be going now..." She chuckled and once again endeavoured at pulling herself away to only feel the boy tightening his hold.

"No, I want you to stay...are you going to go back to him?" (Y/n) took a good guess as to who he was talking about and picked up on the intoxicating atmosphere gathering around her due to the boy. She felt the all too familiar shiver relaying through her spine. "If you are, then I'll just have to hold you like this until you say no."

"Ren, come on I need to go." (Y/n) tried to force the male away, but his grip was iron and didn't allow her to even squeeze out. However, this was a win-win situation for Ren who was enjoying the feeling of the girl's form pressed up against him and if she did, in fact, agree to change her schedule, he was finally going to ease some alone time with her. "Fine, if you're going to be difficult then I'll stay." With a satisfied smile, he unwrapped himself from her and took a seat in front of the instrument. He gestured for the girl to join him and as (Y/n) prepared to take the chair beside the male she was forcefully tugged without a warning. "What the-"

She panicked at the thought of landing on the ground due to her stumble, but instead hit against something softer. She had to take a minute to realise Ren had pulled her onto his lap. "No (Y/n), you'll sit here where I can truly feel your presence." (Y/n) was stuck between his two hands as they nonchalantly started playing the keys of the piano, ignoring the startled expression of the girl.

"U-umm, Ren I'm not very comfortable sitting here so I'll just..." As she got ready to get up and take her proper seat, she was restrained by one of the male's hands as he paused his composition.

"Don't be like that (Y/n), I want you to stay right here." He gave her an empathetic and munificent smile to guilt trip the female into complying with his wishes. However, (Y/n) firmly shook her head and started to remove the boy's arm from her. "I said stay!" (Y/n) shrunk back at the stiff and rusty undertone in his voice and the fierce look in his eyes. She quickly shoved him away, not caring how rough it was, and quickly moved aside at a safe distance.

"What's wrong with you?! When I said 'no' I wasn't joking!" Ren growled at her disobedience and stood up from his seat. (Y/n) became alert from his action and readied to either throw a punch or flee if he proceeded with his behaviour. Ren quickly caught himself and attempted to bring back his kinder attitude before the girl was fully put off.

"I'm really sorry (Y/n), I shouldn't have forced you on that. Please, come back and sit down next to me if you want." However (Y/n) didn't make a move to return beside him and even seemed to add to the distance by taking a step back. She shook her head in defiance, still stunned at the boy's mood swing. "(Y/n), I'm not going to do anything, I promise. Now come and join me." He sent her a solicitous smile in an attempt to sooth her but was proven ineffective. Instead, she turned around and prepared to leave the room. "(Y/n), where are you going?" The girl cringed at the harsher tone that began to debouch once again.

"I-I need to go...I'll see you later Ren." She faked a smile and waved towards the boy as she shakily left the room.

In any other case, Ren would have immediately run after (Y/n) and made another attempt to convince her on remaining, but he had to stay satisfied with the thought of her upcoming subservience. "Fine. Leave (Y/n), I'll get what I want eventually."

Bako walked around the busy hall, avoiding any physical altercations with the running mass of students making their way through school, while Kaito followed closely behind. "Do you know the location of this girl?" The cerise ruby haired male just barely evaded bumping into a few laughing students.

"She's here. I remember her taking me here on the first day and practically spending the whole of lunchtime around these popular kids." Bako begrudgingly hissed at the memory of his last visit to this area. "Speaking of which, there she is." He glared at his dark haired guide who was chittering with a group of girls.

"Are you sure she'll do the job?"

"Trust me, she gossips more than celebrity magazines. This will be like taffy for her." He approached the group of females, putting on a happy smile. "Hey Maki, can I talk to you for a moment." The girl prepared to shoo the person away due to lack of interest until she saw who it was.

"Bako!?" Maki looked back her friends to see their hungry gazes carefully trailing the tall boy in front of them. When the dark haired girl glared at the group, they turned away with giggles and gave the two students some room. "H-how can I help you?" She flashed him a smile and fluttered her long lashes at the boy who inwardly cringed at her petty attempts.

"I have something you might be interested in. You remember (Y/n)? I heard from a friend she's been saying some very savoury stuff about this Kenzan guy." Maki seemed to shine with the expectancy of fresh gossip and eagerly began listening to the boy. 'Perfect.'
