CHAPTER THREE-WHY WOULD HE DO THAT?

Scorpius sat alone. Polly couldn't make it to work so there he was. Alone. It had been nearly a week since he last saw Albus. He half hoped he could never see him again, forget about him. The other half persisted, wanting to see him again. Scorpius waited for any customers, but none seemed to come. He never noticed how cold and empty the shop could be. It freaked him out a little. Deciding to look around, Scorpius stood up and went to find a book to read. He picked up a book and heard the door open and close again.

He came out from behind the shelf and nearly ran away when he saw Albus, again, standing at the door cluelessly. He saw Scorpius and he stared, searching for something. Though this time, his eyes looked as if he was just crying, eyes red and his cheeks tinted pink.

"Albus." Scorpius mumbled, staring back at Albus before asking and eventually blabbering, "Is there anything I can help you find? I'm meant to close the shop in like a few minutes actually, but it's fine. I can wait, it doesn't really matter to me."

"I, came to look for you actually." He replied awkwardly, sniffling a little.

"Oh." Scorpius mumbled, tilting his head, a little confused. "You did?"

"Well, yeah." Albus shrugged, taking his eyes away from Scorpius to look around. "I miss you."

"I do too." Scorpius said softly, watching Albus carefully.

Albus took a step closer before throwing his arms around Scorpius, who stood shocked for a moment, before hugging Albus back. Albus buried his head into Scorpius' chest. Scorpius looked down at him, embracing the moment. He was distracted by a soft sob coming from Albus.

"Albus? Are you ok?" Scorpius asked softly, he felt Albus' head shake and his hands clinging desperately to Scorpius' shirt.

Albus looked up, tears running down his face. "I am such a horrible friend, I'm so sorry!" He blabbed.

"Albus,"

"I should never have left you. I miss you so much, Scorpius. Too much." Albus continued.

"Albus,"

"I'm so sorry." Albus stopped and stared hopefully at Scorpius.

"Albus!" Scorpius said, clearer now, smiling a little. "It's ok."

Albus laughed a little, his laugh was watery with tears.

The two found themselves staring into each other's eyes. Scorpius found himself blushing furiously as Albus seemed to lean his head closer, their noses nearly touching. His hand moved up to Albus' cheek, brushing away a tear. Albus' eyes seemed to move from Scorpius' eyes to his lips, only for a short moment. Scorpius winced.

"Albus." He breathed softly again, his heart beating rapidly.

That's when it happened, again. Albus leaned in and kissed him. For a moment, Scorpius missed the feeling, but he felt himself push Albus away. "Y-you have a boyfriend, Albus."

Albus bit his lip, looking away guiltily. "about that." He muttered, looking at the ground to try and cover his embarrassment.

"What do you mean?" Scorpius asked, going over to lock the door, turning over the open sign to closed, walking slowly back over to Albus.

"Well, you see, he broke up with me." Albus replied awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.

Scorpius laughed nervously. "Why would he do that?" He asked dumbly.

"He just said he thought of me more as a friend..." Albus lied, trailing off.

"Is that all?"

Albus thought for a moment before making humming and nodding. Scorpius shook his head. "C'mon Albus, you can tell me. I want to know!" He whined, Albus looked conflicted. "What?"

Albus chuckled a little. "It's just that," He paused, his face twisted in an odd thoughtful expression, until he found what he was trying to say. "I said you hadn't changed much, when really, you are like a completely different person."

"What's made you say that? I can assure you I'm not that different." Scorpius insisted.

Albus did something between a nod and a shrug. "Why don't we go somewhere to talk then, catch up."

"I have to get home you can come too if you would like. I can't promise anything special if you want to stay for dinner."

"I would love to come!"

They walked back to the apartment, talking to each other every now and then. "Sorry we have to walk. I don't have a car or a license." Scorpius apologised.

"Don't worry about it. I don't mind a nice walk." He turned to Scorpius and smiled sweetly, before turning away and sighing softly, chuckling a little. "Reminds me of when we used to walk to school."

Scorpius smiled awkwardly. "Yeah."

Scorpius and Albus reached the apartment building and Scorpius led Albus in. Scorpius saw that Polly was sitting at the table, head down, writing something. The whole table was covered in books, pencils and papers. Scorpius grunted, making Polly looked up. Her eyes widened when she saw Albus standing next to Scorpius.

"Albus!" She smiled.

Scorpius sighed. "Polly, what are you doing here?"

"Sorry, Scorpius. The study group cancelled. I didn't really expect to have any visitors." Polly shrugged, setting her pencil down before offering, "I can clear the table and move to my room if you want."

"No, no it's fine." Scorpius shook his head, before grabbing Albus' wrist and gently pulling him along as they headed to Scorpius' room. "Come on Albus, we can go to my room."

Scorpius reached the door to his room and opened it slowly revealing the fairly cluttered room. There were drawings and photographs stuck all over the walls and his desk, covered in paper and art supplies. Piles of books were crammed in every spare corner of the room. Scorpius watched Albus look around at the room.

"Sorry it's so messy." He apologised, looking around his own room.

Albus chuckled a little. "Don't worry, you haven't seen my room." He joked, eyes landing on a drawing that sat on the wall above Scorpius' desk. "I didn't know you could draw."

"Oh, yeah." Scorpius shrugged, noticing the drawing Albus was staring at. "I drew that one ages ago, before you moved away."

"Is it of me?" Albus asked.

Scorpius could feel a blush creep up on his cheeks, fiddling with the bracelets around his wrist. "Yeah." He smiled a little.

"It's nice."

Scorpius looked over at Albus. "You can have it."

"Really?" Albus turned to look at Scorpius.

"Yeah." He nodded, before adding, "If you want it."

"I'll get it before I go." Albus smiled sweetly, startling Scorpius with a big hug.

Scorpius hugged Albus, not wanting to let go. He planted a soft kiss on Albus' forehead, making him look up. Scorpius was considerably taller than Albus, who hadn't seemed to have grown since he moved away. On the other hand, Scorpius had grown taller. He had only noticed it now. If he wanted, he could rest his chin on Albus' head. Scorpius smirked, looking down at Albus.

"What?" Albus frowned.

"I just noticed how much taller I am. You really haven't grown, Albus." Scorpius chuckled.

He could see Albus blush a little as he chewed his lip. "hmph."

"Not that it's a bad thing!" Scorpius added.

They stared into each other's eyes again, getting lost again. It seemed to happen too often. Scorpius wanted to kiss Albus, but he knew it felt wrong. Albus had only just broken up with Karl, and even though they had already kissed, it was wrong. Maybe Albus didn't see it that way, but Scorpius sure did. He could tell Albus was stopping himself from doing the same. Glancing around the room before looking back at Scorpius. They were quickly interrupted by Polly, who barged into the room, making Albus and Scorpius break apart. They stood next to each other awkwardly. Polly stared at them, eyes narrowed.

"I was going to order pizza but wanted to check if that's ok." She told them, still sceptical.

"It's ok with me." Albus blabbed at the same time as Scorpius who said. "That's fine.

They turned and stared at each other before looking away quickly.

"Pizza it is then." Polly nodded before exiting the room again, closing the door.

Once she was gone, Scorpius couldn't help but laugh. He started laughing hysterically, making Albus look at him funny. Though he couldn't help but smile. Eventually laughing with Scorpius. They ended up tangled in a hug, lying on Scorpius' bed. Both were out of breath from laughing so much.

"I don't even know what we are laughing about!" Albus wheezed.

Scorpius shook his head. "Me either. I don't know why I even started laughing!"

They laid there, trying to catch their breaths. Both smiling like idiots. Scorpius thought for a moment, part of him told him what he was about to do was still wrong, but the other part of him saw an opportunity. Scorpius wrapped an arm around Albus and pulled him closer before putting his lips against Albus'. Albus hand brushed against Scorpius' cheek, making Scorpius smile a little. Scorpius pulled away from Albus, who seemed stunned and breathless.

"We should go and see if the pizza is here before Polly walks in on us again." Scorpius said softly, sitting up.

"Yeah, she seems to do that often." Albus nodded and smiled, sitting up next to him.

They stood up, Albus reached for Scorpius' hand, grabbing onto it and squeezing it gently. Scorpius squeezed back and smiled at Albus. They ran into Polly who was just coming down the small hallway.

"Oh! Just in time, Pizza is here." She smiled, she glanced at Albus and Scorpius' joined hands and smirked before turning back around.

Scorpius sat next to Albus at the small dining table, kicking each other's legs as they ate their pizza. It was a fairly silent dinner, until Albus got up to use the bathroom.

"I told you it would happen." Polly smirked. "Sometimes life does work that way."

Scorpius rolled his eyes. "Mhm" He hummed.

"So, are you two a thing again or what?"

Scorpius just shrugged, not answering as he could hear Albus coming back down the hallway.

"I think I should get going now." Albus announced.

"No!" Scorpius said quickly, standing up. "No, you should stay. It's late."

"I don't want to bother either of you."

"Oh come on, Albus! It's fine!" Scorpius shook his head.

===

Albus sat on the bed next to Scorpius, both staring at the small tv Scorpius had in his room. Scorpius was clinging to Albus, he jumped and squeaked before burying his face into Albus' shoulder.

"Turn it off, turn it off Albus! Please! I won't be able to sleep!" Scorpius begged.

"It's not that scary!" Albus laughed.

"Can we just sleep!" Scorpius groaned, his voice muffled by Albus' arm.

"Fine." Albus turned the tv off and Scorpius let go of Albus.

Scorpius lied down, Albus curling up next to him. "If you don't get a good sleep because I keep waking you up its your fault." Scorpius whispered, turning the light off.

"I know, it's fine." Albus replied sleepily.

"Goodnight Albus."

"Night Scorpius."
