Chapter 1 - The first day of school ⚔️

Knock knock

Someone was knocking the door. Once.. and then again..

Knock knock

Feeling frustrated of whoever bothering his sleep, he opened his eyes widely and stared at the door from his bed.

"Who is it!?"

"It's me, hyung-nim. Dad asked me to tell you to get ready for our new school!"

Basen outside the room was speaking loudly in order for his brother to hear him.

'Right.. I'm Basen's brother, Kim Rok Soo, no, I go by Cale Henituse now.

Just a few days ago, having tired of all those students who either admire me, respect me, fear me, jealous of me or even mad at me, just because I became the school's top student who is good at almost every subjects except for PE.

Admiration?

Fear?

Jealously?

Why the hell are they comparing themselves with me?

Who do they think I am?

Ain't I just a regular student like them?

Plus, do they really think I want those kinds of attention?

Haaa.. obviously not.

In the first place, I just wanted to show my father that I got a good grade so that he would give me more allowances.

But what the hack?

Who would have thought that I barely did anything and their scores are still far behind me!?'

Thought the person who filled up every answer because he thinks it was too easy.

'Anyway, I hate those kind of attentions. To be very honest, I hate to be the center of attentions, to have many people looking up at you and then start to criticize any actions that they don't like about you, yes, that's why I hate it very much.

At first, I thought of just lowering my grade to the minimum score to pass the exam.

But then, what?

Even those damn hired teachers started to complain things.

'Rok Soo, why are you falling behind so far? Some failed students are getting better than you.'

'Rok Soo, tell us the truth, all those time you've been at the top, you weren't cheating, right?'

Now that they can't call me the best student of their class anymore, they started to question my ability?

Just like that?

Sorry, but I don't give a damn about what you oldsters think about!

I'd rather just go transferring around and live my normal and comfortable school life instead of having those annoying people looking up and down at me.'

"..ng-nim! Hyung-nim!! Why are you not saying anything?"

"Ah.."

Coming back to reality, Cale tried to calm his confused step brother whom he will transfer to the new school with, according to his father's condition.

"I'll be ready in 20 minutes, so you can go and check on Lily while waiting for me."

A bright voice responded back from the closed door.

"Yes, I will do so, hyung-nim!"

Seeing no more words came in, Cale assumed that his brother had left and started to get ready for his new school.

A while later...

"Hmm.. blue shirt, black jeans.. the school's taste is not bad, as it goes exactly well with my newly dyed hair."

Kim Rok Soo muttered to himself as he was observing his new school uniform through the mirror.

Kim Rok Soo's hair was originally black. But now that he took the length to change into the new name in case he bumped into the old school mates, Cale Henituse decided to give his best for his new comfortable school life by changing every bits of his old self, and the first good start was definitely dyeing his hair.

"I'm surprised I look very good in red hair."

Satisfying with his new taste, Cale nodded several times before leaving his bedroom.

Click

Then.. bang

Cale opened the door and closed back in an instant as he never expect to see a vicious face of his step-mother, Violan, for the first thing in the morning.

Violan calmly asked while she didn't seem to bother with her son's reaction just now.

"I heard you asked Hans for the school's students name list."

After calming his poor heart, Cale put his hand on the doorknob and opened the door to answer his mother.

"Yes, I did. I thought it'd be very nice to know my classmates' names beforehand."

'Hell like I'll tell her that I needed to learn their name in advance in order to avoid them!'

"Very good. It's great to hear that you put so much effort for your new school."

'I didn't do that much though?'

Tapping her son's shoulder, then she added.

"Come and have breakfast before you leave with Basen."

"Yes, mother."

Unable to understand why his mother acted this way, he decided to brush it aside and went to the dining table.

After having breakfast, Cale and Basen said goodbye their parents and got into the car with their bodyguard, Hilsman, as the driver.

***

In front of the school gate, many students were mumbling at themselves while their gazes were on the luxurious car that had stopped by at the gate.

"Wow, so rich..."

But the students immediately flinched after seeing the two boys leaving their car.

'Ugh...'

Cale groaned internally as he felt that he made such a useless entrance for his first day of school.

'But what's with their reaction?'

Cale looked at Basen who also noticed the crowd giving away their uncomfortable look.

Basen hurriedly looked back at his brother with the eyes that asked if he and his brother did anything wrong for the students to act in such a way.

But Cale just shrugged his shoulder to tell his younger brother that he didn't have to pay attention for such a thing.

The younger brother nodded and they both made their way into the school after telling their bodyguard to leave.

Walking nearer and nearer to the school gate, Cale finally noticed that there was an old man smiling benignly at his direction.

Benignly, yeah.. that's why it looked so vicious in addition to his sharp eyes observing him and his brother up and down.

Cale subconsciously gulped before opened his mouth to speak to the vicious old man.

"What is it, old man?"

Basen beside him looked back and forth between his brother and the old man, unable to believe that his hyung talked so rudely to the elder they just met so he can't let it slide and whispered his brother quietly.

"Hyung-nim..."

Cale gazed at Basen with the 'what's wrong with my words' eyes.

'Do I have to speak respectfully to the old man that just look up and down at me?'

But it didn't seem like the old man was bothered by it, no, to be exact, it looked more like he didn't hear it at all, even though the students behind him seemed to hear it clearly than he was as they broke into sweats.

'Hmm, did I provoke the wrong guy?

Well, who tell this old man to look at me with such a gaze'

"Good morning, young masters. I'm Ron Molan and I will be in charge of your transferring progress." said the old man with the still benignly smile.

'See? He doesn't seem that big of a position.'

Cale felt relieved as he walked toward the old man, who had just introduced himself as Ron Molan, and extended his hand to tap the elder's shoulder as well as to make him know his place and to warn him not to look at Cale with those sharp gazes anymore, but then immediately halted with what he heard next.

"Ah, by the way, I am also a deputy principal here at Crossman Campus."

'F*ck, Why now of all the time??

He's definitely messing with me'

The hand, that was extending, was now at the back of his own head.

"Ah, so that's why you're waiting for me here, deputy principal." said Cale who had no choice but to scratch his own head with his almost extending hand just now, while smiling gently at the vicious old man.

Seeing how the situation got awkward, Basen intruded between the two.

"Then, Mr. Ron, please kindly give us your guide as we are new to this school, ahaha.."

"Yes, of course, you young masters are traveling a long way, so let's not waste anymore time."

'A long way my ass, anyone could tell that we don't have problems traveling at all with our family car just now!

I wouldn't have let this slide if you weren't a deputy principal.'

As they were walking into the school building, Cale, whose gaze were still on the old man, suddenly got caught.

"Would you like to say something, young master-nim?"

'Definitely not.'

Although he didn't mean to say anything, Cale still chose to reply.

"I was just thinking that the school shouldn't bother the deputy principal to take care of us youngsters."

'So you can leave us anytime, benign old man!'

"Don't worry, young master-nim. It was my decision to serve you. After all, Mr. Deruth told us to give a very special welcome for the two of you."

Cale immediately shut up as he couldn't get the old man to leave them alone, although he continued to scream inside his head.

'No, I don't like it so just leave us instead!'

After a long while, they finally arrived at the deputy principal's office.

But what awaited them wasn't an empty room but a slim, tall boy was there sitting and was expected to wait for them.

Ron Molan and the two young masters entered the room as the tall boy stood up and greeted them with a warm smile.

"Hello. It's nice to meet you. My name is Choi Jung Soo and I'm a representative of class A-2. I may be this tall but I'm still 17 years old, hahaha!"

'Wow, would you look at this?

This cheerful representative in front of me is nothing compared to my former class rep who only knew how to complain!

Since he's neither Choi Han the top student nor Toonka the crazy's Taekwondo player or the crazy 8 grade syndrome schooler like Clopeh Sekka, wouldn't it be better to be friends with this guy?

Plus, I also need to be on the good term with the class rep in order to achieve my comfortable school life.

Okay! Let's do this—'

Cale smiled brightly to his first backer of the class and extended his hand.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Cale Henituse. Please take a good care of me."

"Hahahah, of course, of course!" Choi Jung Soo shook the extended hand and someone interjected.

"Now, now, Jung Soo. Please take the young master-nim to his new class and introduce him properly. I shall take care of the younger young master-nim."

Cale smiled brightly again as he could not hide his joy that he finally got the vicious old man to leave him alone.

'Good luck Basen'

As he prayed to his younger brother who had just left with the deputy principal, a cheerful voice was heard from behind.

"Then, Cale, how old are you?"

"Huh? Why would you care?"

Cale suddenly blurted out his inner thought. But to his surprise, Choi Jung Soo doesn't mind his rude manner.

"Hahahah! And here I thought you was a goody two shoes!"

Cale, then, decided to just say whatever come to his mind.

"So what? You don't like it?"

"No, of course not! I like it! I like it very much!"

The two just continued to chat until they arrived in front of class A-2 while Cale was just having one thought in mind.

'I guess I chose the wrong person to interact with.

Cheerful my ass, he's so damn loud.

Well, at least, he's better than those crazily popular students like Choi Han, Rosalyn, Hannah or the people of White Star Gang.'

At least, that's what Cale thought.

Although, at the moment, he didn't know that he would regret his decision very soon.
