Chapter 5 - Grading (1)

MC Han Dawon, the host of Stardust Project, closed her tired eyes.

I watched the performances of more than 15 trainees in a row.

Although there were some stages that I thought were okay, many more fell below expectations.

It was not that the trainees from Dobbles Entertainment, one of the top three entertainment companies, lacked skills.

However, I was familiar with idols from 1st and 2nd rated groups.

Exhaustion overwhelmed me as I continued to watch the trainee's unrefined performances.

"Please introduce yourself."

"My name is Do Seohan. I'm a 6-month trainee at Dobbles Entertainment. I look forward to performing!"

Han Dawon lifted her heavy eyelids and smiled for the broadcast.

However, she had no interest.

It was Kevin who put on such a great performance that even her, who had been sleepy for the previous 15 trainees, woke up.

'You're an unlucky guy. Too bad.'

Every judges fatigue is building up. An average stage won't be able to capture their attention.

If you don't get a very interesting response here, it's not even worth going on air.

Han Dawon briefly glanced at the records in front of her.

Looking at the month-end evaluation results, it doesn't seem like he's a kid who stands out that much.

"You recently joined the company. Before that, were you anywhere else?"

"I trained for about five years outside of the company."

"You were a trainee here for six months, but you have much experience."

"You're young, but you've been doing it for a while. Why didn't you debut?"

"You're still young. Seventeen?"

The other trainers seemed to have similar feelings and blurted out insensitive words.

Among them, there was only one person whose eyes were sparkling.

Vocal trainer Yoo Min-seo highly recommended Do Seohan.

"..."

While everyone is silent, looking up at Seohan with their hands clasped. Teacher Yoo Min-seo smiled and added more words.

"It seems like you have a lot of talent, right? You have an attractive face."

"Oh, thank you!"

I found myself looking at him one more time.

I raised my head and glanced at Seohan.

I don't know if it feels that way because of the lighting, but in fact, just looking at his face, he is quite handsome.

"...I guess so."

It's not a particularly flashy or striking face, but he has round eyes and solid features. A face that tilts its head and stares nervously...

Therefore.

It looked like a hamster that had been caught escaping from its cage.

"Cute."

There is a freshness to it at that age.

Han Dawon chuckled and looked away.

"What song did you prepare?"

Even though she asked as written in the script, Dawon was somewhat certain of the outcome. Considering the trends, trainees with this impression selected songs that would best bring out their appearance.

A song that is moderately light and average but can leave a cute impression.

A song like that would be perfect for that kid.

'It's wiser to take the young and innocent position.'

Unless your skills were outstandingly superior, that would have been a more desirable choice.

The first evaluation was especially important because it determined the trainee's image.

However.

The words that came out of Do Seohan's mouth were completely unexpected.

"I prepared a music video from LROY seniors Dancing On Movie."

"Uh?"

Only then did Han Dawon discover the song selection written at the bottom.

The faces of the judges sitting next to me also hardened simultaneously. That was the case, except for Teacher Yoo Min-seo.

"What about the Dancing On Movie music video?"

"Are you going to do it here? Now?"

"Wait a second. Are you being serious?"

Han Dawon questioned, looking at the judges' reactions.

"Why? What song is this?"

"LROY's debut song. It's a very difficult song."

One judge touched his throbbing forehead with his hand and briefly added an explanation.

LROY's Dancing on Movie, called 'Danamove' for short, was also the representative song of LROY, which is currently in its prime.

Looking at it this way, it doesn't seem like it would be a big problem, but the problem was the difficulty of this song. A song with a dreamy yet mysterious atmosphere.

It's a little strange to hear that.

'He really said that...?'

The hamster just blinked his eyes innocently.

Han Dawon spit out the words without realizing it.

"Do you think you can handle it?"

The camera illuminated the trainers' facial expressions in real time.

He succeeded if he wanted to attract attention with a unique song selection.

Anyway, I don't think it will get edited out.

I'm worried that I might be ridiculed.

The judge, sitting next to Dawon, let out a short sigh.

"Danomove.... I don't think it's the right song here..."

Danamove was a song that was very difficult to bring out the complex atmosphere, even more than the difficulty of the vocals and dance. If you misinterpret it, you will watch a sexy jellyfish-like dance for 4 minutes.

In fact, there was a time when a new idol covered this song on TV and was ridiculed for a long time.

Teacher Yoo Min-seo asked with a grin.

"You know it's a difficult song, right?"

"Yes, I know."

To put it simply, the question was whether you could save that atmosphere and Seohan smiled with more spirit than anyone else.

"I'll give it my best."

* * *

Dreamy synthesizer sounds began to play heavily.

Do Seohan slowly walked forward.

"Can you do well?"

"I wish this song was average-level."

As soon as the judges finished speaking, Seohan picked up the microphone.

Futuristic bass genre. He piled up simple adlibs on top of the heavy beat.

I still don't know

I still don't know

A voice that softly chants, not vocals or rap. Perhaps the tone was the most important part.

Here, Teacher Yoo Min-seo opened her eyes wide.

This place where I'm trapped is a prison

The end of the unreachable darkness

Do Seohan's greatest strength in this song is his vocals, which do not particularly stand out.

He has a unique voice.

'No way.'

This is the reason why he chose this song over all those songs.

Was it because he thought it was the best way to bring out his voice?

If that is true, Do Seohan has found the answer.

Do Seohan's soft voice gave strength to each word and made it resonate.

There was definitely a strange power in that voice.

It's not a rap or a song.

A melody with a mysterious rhythm.

"Uh?"

The judges which had before been shaking their heads began to panic.

"He's really good at expressing the song?"

"Ah?"

You who let go are probably a prisoner

I'm trying to put an end to this meaningless wandering.

Is it because of the lighting?

The smiling eyes glowed mysteriously, and Do Seohan glided smoothly, filling the small stage.

"Oh..."

"What?"

Han Dawon raised her eyebrows and observed Seohan's movements.

As a former actor, I don't know much about professional dancing, but I have intuition.

He strangely catches my eye.

He made a gesture of boldly extending his hands. The movement continues smoothly without any stutter.

The fundamentals built up with his youth shining.

And above all.

Those facial expressions that other judges pointed out.

'... He's quite good?'

I don't know if it was intentional or innate, but the gentle-eyed smile strangely was captivating.

Fatal hamster.

Do Seohan stays true to the concept and brings out all his charm.

Don don don~

Lightly bouncing choreography with dreamy sounds.

It's a song that could easily look like a flaccid jellyfish, but the choreography, which clearly controls the strength and weakness, felt aesthetically pleasing.

Only then did the judges start to get excited.

Those who were about to die of sleepiness just a moment ago.

Everyone was paying attention to the star with their eyes sparkling.

"This friend's name is Seohan, right?"

"Wow, this is crazy. The point choreography is on beat perfectly."

"Look at his eyes. It looks like he's going to devour the stage."

At best, it was a stage where I judged that he would be stuffed into all communities as the second Danomove victim.

The production team also planned to set the editing direction in that way as soon as they heard the song selection.

However.

I didn't expect him to be able to pull this off.

Seohan grinned and boldly walked forward like in the introduction.

As if he was already sure of victory, his mysterious eyes were now burning intensely.

Dongdong- Dongdong-

I still don't know

I still don't know

Now I'm trying to recognize you

The stage concluded in a mysterious atmosphere.

"Ah."

"Waaaaaaah!"

The judges started clapping as if mesmerized.

* * *

"He must be crazy."

"A 5-year trainee is different no matter what."

"I know."

Cough—

Ha Junseo cleared his throat and turned his head when he heard the commotion.

Was it because he took a sip of my Americano?

"Wow... He's really good."

"Woah!"

There was already chaos behind the stage.

"Danomove of LROY..."

Wow, it's as if he is a fairy dancing over a fire.

Ha Junseo was watching Do Seohan's performance from a position with a slight view of the stage.

Honestly, it was amazing.

Even though I have consistently ranked at the top of the month-end evaluations, if I had been asked to perform that same stage, I would have absolutely shaken my head.

It was such a difficult performance. Even if it were covered at a fairly high level, it would not have been able to avoid harsh criticism.

There isn't a part that feels like a highlight, and the dance is so difficult with the dreamy bass.

However.

It matched strangely.

Rather than saying that Seohan did it at a particularly high level, he interpreted it neatly and skillfully as if it were his own song.

There was no sense of heterogeneity at all.

"Amazing, Do Seohan."

On stage, the judges were still evaluating.

Everyone seemed to have similar thoughts to Ha Junseo.

As if the lingering emotion had not gone away, Teacher Yoo Min-seo paused for a moment and then picked up the microphone.

"Why did you choose this song?"

"...It's a song I personally like, and I wanted to try it."

"You dance really well. It's a very hard song, isn't it?"

"I'm not really good at singing, so I liked it because it uses my voice well."

"I think if you improve your vocal skills a little more, you'll be established well. You already have the basics down."

"I don't think you're a 5-year trainee for nothing."

It's impossible to improve your vocal skills in a short period of time. He chose a song that would best bring out his voice. He was confident that he would not be defeated in terms of atmosphere or dancing.

A song selection that reflects Do Seohan's concern about making sure to leave an impact in the grade evaluation.

*Clap clap clap*

Applause erupted once again.

Choreographer Myunghwan Choi. After receiving the microphone from teacher Yoo Min-seo, opened his mouth.

"I once saw your performance during the monthly evaluation. At that time, I felt like you were lacking."

"Oh, I agree."

"But today, as soon as the performance started, the aura... Wow, what did I feel?"

"This will work out.' something like that?"

It was an unexpectedly favorable review from a normal perspective. However, any third party who saw the stage would give a similar review. Ha Junseo nodded at choreographer Choi Myunghwan's words.

"I really felt it."

When I look back on Do Seohan's presence...

Well, it was fine. Before the Stardust project, it was okay.

He's just a smart and kind little brother.

That image remained in Ha Junseo's memory.

I liked his easy-going personality and became close friends with him, but even I never thought that Seohan had such talent.

"You're good, Seohan."

At that time, Han Dawon smiled and retook the microphone.

"Yes, I enjoyed the performance."

The judges, who had been discussing for a while, turned their heads again.

"Then, we will announce the evaluation grade of Do Seohan."

Of course, this is grade A.

Ha Junseo muttered softly to himself. The other trainees standing around seemed to have similar thoughts.

"Wow, two A grades in a row after Kevin.

"I know, crazy."

Everyone already knows his grade just by his performance.

"Yes, evaluation of Do Seohan will be displayed on the screen."

Paat-

Do Seohan's grade appeared on the screen.

Ha Junseo was so flustered that he frowned without realizing it.

"That doesn't make sense...?"
