89. #71 Dylan Larkin (Detroit Red Wings)

It was a warm Friday evening when you and your best friend were wandering down the Riverside Marina in Detroit. Soft breeze was playing with your hair and nearly blew off your friend's designer hat.

"Stop laughing," she growls when the wind nearly blows her hat away once again. You look at her, barely containing the laughter: "I don't know why had to take the hat, you could've easily taken a cap and tuck your hair in."
"You could've taken something to prevent your hair from being all over the place," she snaps back and groans in annoyance as the next blow of wind nearly takes away her hat again.

"Y/F/N, do you see anyone here? You don't have to be all dressed up all the time, you know that?"

"It wouldn't hurt you if you tried being dressed up once in a while." Her attempt to out sass you, makes you chuckle and drape your arm around her shoulder: "Oh, Y/F/N, Y/F/N, you have so much to learn how to out sass people."

She glares at you and tries to fake anger, but cracks a smile anyway. Soon after, you are laughing out of control and you feel tears streaming down your cheeks. You look at your friend and see through the blur of tears that she is not better than you, her make up being smeared all over her cheeks and dripping on her shirt. Your laughing session continues until you feel something hit back of your head. Your laughter stops and you reach back to rub the hurt area.

"Hey, is everything okay?"

"Ow, no, I got hit by something..."

Your friend looks away and notices red Frisbee not far away from where the two of you are seating.

"Probably that thing?"

"It could be, but where did it come from?"

In the exact same moment as she shrugs her shoulders, two boys approach you. The one with dark brown hair smiles at you both, while his friend with blonde hair kneels down next to you: "Are you okay?"

His accent sounds European to you, but you don't know exactly where could this guy be from or what is he doing in Detroit. You nod however, still holding hand to back of your head where the Frisbee hit you.

"We are sorry," the dark-haired guy rubs back of his head nervously. Your friend leans down to you and whispers: "Luckily, two cuties are responsible for your pain, could be worse."
You shoot her a quick smile and shake your head: "I am fine, thankfully is wasn't too painful. Oh, this is Y/F/N and I am Y/N."
Blondie smiles widely: "Teemu Pulkkinen and this baby is Dylan-"
"I can introduce myself, Te," brunette cuts his friend short and flashes you both a wide smile: "I know he already told my name, but I am Dylan."
Your friend jumps up as soon as the introduce themselves: "Dylan Larkin of Red Wings?"

You should've known, she knows everything about every player in Michigan under the age of twenty-one, which is not surprising. Well... just weird. And she has been slightly obsessed with Dylan Larkin since his NHL debut. She even tried to get you to like him as well, so you could fangirl together, but you didn't budge. Honestly, you didn't see a reason why should you obsess over someone you don't even known, you were the down-to-earth part of the duo. But now when you met him, you could see why did she find him so special.

He is even more adorable in person than on pictures she has shown you so many times in attempt to get you to the "dark side". He offers her another smile and you can see her melting: "Red Wings fan?"

"Sports fan and from Detroit. Which makes me both, I think," she chuckles. He stretches out his hand: "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."

Somehow they start a conversation, leaving you and Dylan's friend out and in awkward silence. Until he breaks it: "I hope you are not hurt."
"Oh, no, don't worry, it was just a shock. I really didn't expect a Frisbee to my head," you chuckle and tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, giving him a small smile.

"Good. So, you watch hockey too?"

"Yes, a bit... you play too?"
He nods and smiles a bit: "We are teammates."
"And where are you from? I mean, your accent..."
"Finland. I came here from Finland."
"Yeah, you sounded European... "

He wants to say something, but Dylan cuts him short again: "Hey, you two wanna join us? We were on our way to grab some ice cream and hang out later."

You exchange a look with your friend and in a next second, you quietly agree. Of course you are joining them, they seem really nice and fun to hang out with. You shrug your shoulders as you are trying to appear like you are thinking about the offer: "We actually..."
"Come on, we won't hurt you."

"Fine. Y/F/N, is that okay with you?"

Of course it is.

The boys take you to the nearby ice cream parlor and buy you two giant sundaes. All four of you sit down outside and look at the marine. If Dylan started conversation with Y/F/N when you met, his attention is now on you, while Teemu keeps Y/F/N entertained. And as much as she may deny that, she enjoys that and you can see she might be catching feelings for blonde Finn.

"So, Y/N, right? What were you doing here in marina?"
"Is it forbidden to be here?" you chuckle and continue "Actually, it's my safe place where I feel safe. And usually Y/F/N and I meet here when either of us has any troubles. And so far it has really been our safe haven. What about you?"
"What, isn't this a free land?" he returns you a chuckle and subconsciously ruffles his brown hair before continuing "Teemu and I were just enjoying a day off plus someone has to show this Finn around for a bit. Well, looks like someone else will take the role of the tourist guide."

He rolls his eyes in the direction of Y/F/N and his Finnish friend. You have never seen Y/F/N with such a wide smile and slightly flirtatious mood.

"Guess we will both have to find new hang out buddies," you smile and take a scoop of your sundae. You notice his looking at you and you immediately put the spoon down: "Is there something wrong?"

Chuckling, he shakes his head: "Nope, nothing's wrong. I just...got lost in my mind, nothing else. Sorry if I scared you."

You shrug your shoulders and look at him through lashes: "It was a bit creepy, eating an ice cream and seeing a guy you have just met staring at you wordlessly."
"Now when you said it out loud, I really sound like a creep. Thanks a lot."
"Anytime, anytime," you wink and you both start laughing. Quietly at first, but your quiet laughter soon grows into uncontrollable and loud, hysterical one. Y/F/N and Teemu both turn around to look at you and you hear Y/F/N sigh: "When did those two monkeys escape the ZOO?"

In response, you barely hear her Finn chuckle quietly: "You are funny."

Your ice cream bowl is empty nearly two hours later (thanks to the guys who didn't let you leave without two more sundaes, which they helped you eat) and you have to unbutton top button of your jeans: "I am absolutely stuffed!"
"Same here," your friend whines and glares at the two guys responsible for your state. They notice that and grin: "A simple thank you would be enough."

Y/F/N and you exchange a look and sigh in unison: "Thank you for getting us stuffed and fat."

"You are not fat," Teemu looks at Y/F/N and they share a smile. You look at Dylan: "Guess there is a new couple in Detroit?"

"Guess our Finn has found his girl," Dylan teases his teammate only to get slapped on back of his head.
"Shut up, Larkin, don't be jealous."

"Me? Jealous? Not a chance, Pulkkinen."

"You are jealous, because you are too young."

"Hey, then your girlfriend is too young as well," you jump in before Dylan can answer and earn a glare from Y/F/N. Teemu blushes dark red and satisfied smile starts making its way on your cheeks before Y/F/N cuts your feeling of victory short: "At least you and Dylan can grow up together."

Now it's your and Dylan's turn to blush dark red.

"Guess this trip to marina was a great idea..." Y/F/N continues like nothing happened before turning to you "We should get back..."
"Yeah, I think so to. What about you, guys?"
"Same here, we have to hit gym for a bit," Teemu looks at his younger teammate. Dylan nods and quickly pulls the phone out of his pocket: "But it would be great if you two ladies typed in your numbers so maybe we can hang out more."
"Larkin, you can't get both," Teemu chuckles and takes his phone out of his pocket. He hands it to Y/F/N and as she types in her number, you put your number into Dylan's phone.

"Great, I will give you a call, okay?"

"Go ahead. Just don't you dare to call me if you are drunk, my phone is turned off after 10 P.M."
"He is too young to drink, so don't worry," Teemu winks at his teammate, earning a death glare from much younger American.

It took a week for Dylan to call you and few more days passed before you met down at the marina again. Only this time, it was only the two of you. That wasn't an official date for you, but to Dylan it was. Why? Because you held hands while walking up and down the marina while watching boats and yachts come and go.

I was thinking of quitting this book (with occasional updates) and focus more on OC fan fiction. Let me know if you think I should continue this or no :)

Also, if this is the end, thank you all so much for your lovely comments, votes and reads, not to mention coping with weird update timetable and grammar mistakes. Thank you <3 ^^
