I walked in the kitchen, snickering.

β€œHey, what has irritated you all of a sudden?” Mother immediately asked.

β€œJust Heeseung, looks like he asked my number from Youngbin just to piss me off,” I shook my head.

β€œWhat'd he say?”

β€œUh...he asked how I was doing.”

She laughed out loud, β€œAnd that annoys you, okay, I'll keep in mind. You should invite him when we go out this weekend.”

β€œSeriously? Inviting him? Again? What's up with y'all? You clearly know that I don't get along with him,” I whined.

β€œWe're going to invite him over until you get along with him. Now ask him what he thinks about it.”

β€œYou're good friends with his mom, why bother telling me to ask her son?” I rolled my eyes.

β€œWhatever, I'll just ask your brother then.”

β€œI'm fine with it,” I shrugged and left.

I took out my phone and directly went to my chats to check if he had seen my dry and plain reply. Why isn't he online yet?

β€œOnly you?” I looked behind him.

β€œAre you disappointed because it's just me here?” Jay folded his arms.

β€œYes...kinda. But I'm relieved because I don't think I can face the rest, except for Sunoo. I feel like he's avoiding me, is he?”

β€œHe's...just quiet. Everyone's quiet,” he sighed before handing me a paper bag.

I looked at him in surprise and then looked down at it, β€œWhat's this for?”

β€œI didn't buy that if you're asking yourself. Everyone else split their money to buy you some calming foods...? I don't really know but yeah,” he spoke before casually sitting down on one of the couches.

β€œWhy didn't you spend some money? You're the one with the most pocket money every single day.”

β€œI'm sitting on your couch in your house instead of my house. I should be studying right now.”

I stuck out my tongue, β€œDon't suddenly act like you study as soon as you reach home. Here, have some. Think of it as an award.”

β€œI don't need one but I'll gladly take it.”

We sat in silence as we both nibbled on our own snacks. Jay looked at the stairs when a faint chuckle was audible.

β€œIs Heeseung here?”

β€œYeah, why do you ask?”

β€œI thought he was going on a date with one of the juniors. I guess he ditched,” he laughed.

β€œHuh? I thought she stopped hitting on them...how did you know about the date though?”

β€œSomeone heard her telling him to wait and meet her near the gate after school and that someone happened to be a close friend of mine.”

β€œWell...he ditched her.”

β€œHey, by the way, are you really into Heeseung?”

β€œWhat? Noβ€” where did you get that idea from?”

β€œSunghoon told me and Jake that you picked him over the two of them.”

β€œArgh, that was because they were being immature and fighting like idiots. Don't take it seriously, that was just my way of keeping him quiet.”

β€œThat really made Jake distressed, you know that?”

β€œI...am going to break up with him anyway,” I brought up both my hands to cover my face.

β€œAre you serious? You can't be serious.”

I sniffled and brought down my hands, β€œIt's for the best, okay? It's not like you're the one I'm breaking up with so don't you dare take it deeply. He'll understand.”

A big frown started displaying on my face and Jay frowned as well, resulting in him to engulf me in a big and warm hug.

β€œMy kid is finally going to experience her first ever break up, I'm so sad but also proud of her.”

I rolled my eyes through my tears and pulled him away to look into his eyes, β€œYou're not like them, are you?”

β€œWhat do you meanβ€” oh, ew no. I don't like you that way, no, ew, no way—”

β€œOkay! You made your point! No need to make me feel disappointed in myself,” I covered his mouth and let it go after finishing my sentence.

He chuckled and immediately hugged again, β€œYou're my little sister.”

β€œYou're really different when its just the two of us.”

β€œI didn't chase you around the whole block for nothing, Jongseong,” Youngbin spoke as he walked down the stairs.

He instantly unlatched from me, β€œNo need to be that protective. I guess, I should get going. Heeseung, want to go together?”

The tall boy shrugged, β€œIf you're okay with it?”

β€œGood, this neighbourhood scares me a little so it'll be fine as long as you guide me out of here. Let's go. See you later, Youngjae and...sir,” he waved.

β€œI'll see you tomorrow,” Heeseung nodded at Youngbin before leaving.

β€œDid you ask him?” I asked as soon as the door closed shut.

β€œMom already told his mother about it. They're both tagging along, it seems,” he walked off, his eyes stuck at the screen of his phone.

My eyes widened. Two vampires camping out with a human family. Why do I feel like something terrible is going to happen?

β€œYou three, I'm sure you all have some spare money with you. You should buy her something to eat and I'll go to Youngjae's place to drop it off and see how she's doing since I'm pretty sure none of us have the guts to see her,” Jay stood up during lunch, pointing at the three boys.

They blinked in confusion before they shrugged it off and started pulling out their money.

β€œMake sure you wait for me and meet me near the gate after school, okay?” The girl looked up at him.

Heeseung nodded before she ran off. He directly turned to his friend, who was smirking at him.

β€œWhat the hell has gotten into you?” Heeseung furrowed his eyebrows.

β€œI just find it amusing to see you attracting girls like a chic magnet.”

β€œDude, that's literally the same girl who I gave my number to.”

β€œSo? I'll slowly walk before you. Just don't take too long,” Youngbin paused for a moment, β€œThat girl, she's clearly not fazed by the rumour about you liking my sister.”

Heeseung shrugged, β€œGirls.”

៚ Β· β€’

β€œWhat is it?” Heeseung groaned.

β€œYour mother told me that you're both going to join Youngjae's family outing this weekend. You should brace yourself in advance because this might be your last chance to be able to live here in disguise,” the girl spoke quickly.

Heeseung stared at the floor, β€œCan't I just tell her?”

The girl sighed, β€œI'm not going to argue with this anymore, Heeseung. Your mother can explain it clearer than me so you can ask her that when you get home.”

β€œUhm, actually...”

β€œWhat?”

β€œI kind of...already did it last week.”

The girl stared at him, speechless.

β€œWait there, I feel like I forgot to do something,” Youngbin walked back in his room to investigate.

Heeseung stood by the stairs until he decided to quietly walk down and see who were quietly chatting downstairs. His eyes shot straight at the two figures who were hugging each other. Is he also into her? If he is...how attractive is she? He smirked before walking back up.

Youngbin walked out from his room with a sigh, β€œFalse memory, sorry about that.”

៚ Β· β€’

β€œHow come you're scared of this place? It's so peaceful around here,” Heeseung turned to Jay.

β€œYou don't know. Ever since Youngbin chased me around...the ones living here have been giving me a weird look. It creeps me out,” Jay shivered.

Heeseung chuckled lowly and looked down at their foot as they continued to walk.

β€œYou don't happen to have any feelings towards Youngjae too, right?” He smiled.

Jay looked at him in surprise, β€œNo. I'm still stuck with the guy I accidentally met because I don't know how to tell him that I don't feel the same way. Don't expect a man in a relationship to have feelings for someone else.”

Heeseung laughed out loud in amusement, β€œYou're seriously so funny.”

Jay smirked and looked at him, β€œSo, then it's true.”

Heeseung lost his smile as he turned at him, β€œWhat do you mean?”

β€œYou wouldn't have asked me if I had a thing for Youngjae if you didn't have feelings for her,” Jay sighed.

Heeseung blinked as he started to panic.

β€œDon't worry, your secret is safe with me,” Jay nodded his head reassuringly, β€œJust don't cross the line and mess with my friends, their happiness means a lot to me.”
