Never Alone

I want you to know that you matter,

I want you to know that I care,

That even though I'm not with you,

I always wish I were there,

To help you when you're hurting,

To sit with you when you're down,

If I were with you when you're frowning,

I'd try to turn it upside down.

I'd like to just sit with you,

maybe not talk,

maybe not listen,

And try to see through your eyes,

even if they glisten,

Because your pain shouldn't be berated,

And I know you're underestimated,

but your last breath is yet unstated,

And I want to see life in your eyes again unabated.

So I'll just sit here with you,

no matter time or cost,

because you mean so very much more to me than summer, spring, or frost.
