You deserve more (August Walker)

"He's a weapon, a killer. Do not forget it. You can use a spear as a walking stick, but that will not change its nature."

The whispers were hard to ignore as you made your way through the city center. People thought they knew August Walker, but they had no idea what he was hiding behind the thick mask that he wore, nobody knew... except you. You ignored the stares that scorched your back and lifted your chin, determined to enjoy your quiet evening.

''Hello,'' you softly greeted him.

His blue eyes had more darkness than any brown eyes you had ever seen before, the cerulean burning as he gazed at you, watching you carefully as you kicked off your heels, rubbing the painful skin.

''What happened?'' He growled, knowing fully well that something had to be bothering you. You weren't one to complain. He had learned quickly that you had a tough skin, it took a lot of effort to break through it, and only he was able to get past your defenses, a fact that he kept close to himself.

You averted your eyes as his burning gaze became too much to bear. ''It's nothing, August. Don't worry.'' You tried to move past him, but his hand shot out and wrapped itself around your wrist pulling you on his lap.

''Someone hurt you,'' he breathed, his eyes widening at the realization before they shuttered down, ''who was it?''

The corner of your mouth quirked up at his worry. He set fire to the world around him, but never let a flame touch you. ''Draw those claws back, Walker. I'm not hurt.''

The afternoon sun shined through the window and his brown curls turned golden as a halo appeared above his head, reminding her of a fallen angel. He lifted you from his lap and started pacing in front of the window, his jaw clenched in fury, a stark contrast to the softness of the golden glow.

You sighed and pushed yourself from the couch, strolling over to where he was pacing, placing a soft hand on his chest. ''I can take care of myself, you know.''

''Yes, I know,'' he snapped, startling you, ''I fucking know, okay?'' He turned away from you and dragged a hand through his hair. ''But knowing doesn't make what they're doing okay.'' He pointed to the window. ''Those people don't have the right to attack you for something I did. You're not responsible for the mess that I left behind.''

He clenched his fist and punched the wall, splitting the delicate skin on his hand, letting his anger get the best of him. You winced before stepping forward, wrapping his injured hand in your smaller ones, pressing a soft kiss on the raw skin. Your eyes drifted up to his, and it was over. His lips caught yours in a hard kiss, driving them apart with the force of it. There was nothing gentle about it. You felt the wall rattle against your back as he shifted, pressing you against it, taking your face between his hands.

Everything that he wasn't able to get out in words got poured into the heated kiss. Every thought in your head exploded to pure, pounding light, and you felt the dark curl of desire begin tot twist inside you...

He pulled back, leaving you panting as your gaze lifted to meet his. The pad of his thumb brushed over your cheek and your breath caught at the softness in his touch. ''You may not be hurt by their words, but I am because you deserve better than that.''

A sob escaped as you cupped his face in your hands. ''You're everything I will ever need, August Walker, and the words of some people won't change that for me.''

''I don't deserve you,'' he whispered, breaking your heart in a million pieces.

''No, August,'' you mumbled, ''you deserve more.''

Authors note:
Hello sweethearts! I've finally updated this book, but also She-Wolf, which tells the story of a female Witcher struggling with herself. NaNoWriMo is approaching and I've decided to join in this year with a story called: The Choice. It's obviously inspired by the Nicholas Sparks book, but with a way different twist. And...... one of my main characters is called Grey Syverson, inspired by Henry's Captain Syverson from the movie Sandcastle. Posting will start on the 1th of December but the book is already up, so make sure to add it to your reading list so you will be updated!
