OC or Crush has hanahaki, what happens?

Do they die? Or does the object of their affections feel the same? Are they able to tell them in time?

What happens if one dies and it's only afterwards the other realises they feel the same? Do they fall ill with it too, and because their love is dead it's too late for them.
