I guess I'd say that you want to write what make you feel good. If it makes you feel good, chances are it'll make other people feel good. You shouldn't feel bored while writing. Honestly, I myself am surprised that so many people enjoy (enjoyed? a ton of folks left...) my writing.

They add: I'm also thinking of changing the name because I don't think The Chainsaw Man is a good title in order to draw in people already know the story, and with that title they might be expecting an exact copy of CSM. Which honestly isn't far off.

(Y/N) - Caring, loving, feels like he needs to help everyone he can, hates himself for not for failing those he couldn't. (He really should give himself more credit)

Legs - Hates (Y/N) for what he did to their timeline, feels alone in a house full of people, craves something and/or someone completely separate from (Y/N), and drowns himself in conflict to distract and entertain himself from his trauma. 

Power - Egotistical yet sensitive, very very VERY ambitious, is beyond pissed that she's the second least favorite of all the heroes (considering no one even knows about Night Patroller).

Denji - Is somewhat content with his life currently, unsure of his place in the world due to so many outlying factions trying to pull him in a certain direction.

Reze - Hell-bent on keeping Denji safe and caring for him, knowing what they've both been through. 

Nayuta - Loves Legs, but despite meaning well, her nature and Power's godawful advice makes her incredibly toxic towards him, destroying what could have been one of Legs' only unique relationships.

Asa: Unsure of her place in the world, craves a close personal relationship, but is also incredibly afraid of failure.

Yoru: Incredibly ambitious, and fears being forgotten, will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

I think that covers everyone important.

Canon: Power. She's the best girl and one of the best-written characters in the series.

Chompverse: Tie between Consumption and Legs. Consumption is cool because of his nature as an all-powerful devil just wanting to have fun. In a way, I designed him as a "chill Sukuna". It's fun having him have normal conversations and interactions with Primal Fears, and establishing batshit lore in conversations. For Legs, it really surprised me how far I could go with a joke character whose sole purpose was to fill a retcon in Part 1. Now using him to tackle the trauma of something as unthinkable as all that happened to him and (Y/N) in part one. I would also like to tackle more of Legs' trauma (sorry, buddy), along with the development of his relationship with Nayuta in the coming side stories book.

That's because they are. :)

Anyway, I think you should emphasize the slowly. You want its progression to be realistic and gradual. Or, you could have the character build to or experience a traumatic event that makes them reach a sort of breaking point. Just my thoughts. In the end, it's your story.
