Fireworks -One Shot-

It was the Fourth of July and American spirits were soaring. Everyone was feeling patriotic and loved seeing that spangled banner waving in the wind.

Alexander and John made plans to see a local fireworks show together. They'd been best friends since Alex moved to the US in middle school and now they were well into their freshman year of college.

The pair found a good spot to sit and laid their blanket down.

"Have you ever seem fireworks Alex?" John asked curiously, settling down on the blanket.

"No..." Alexander admitted. "I haven't...."

"Really?" John said, surprised. Alexander nodded sheepishly.

Both boys liked each other more than best friends but were too shy to admit it.

A cool breeze blew through the field and Alexander shivered, having forgotten a sweater.

"Cold?" John asked. Alex nodded and John scooted closer to Alex and wrapped his arms around him. Alex settled against John's chest.

"That way we can share body heat.." John explained with a smile. Butterflies filled Alexander's stomach and a faint blush colored his cheeks at being this close to John.

"Thanks..." Alexander said softly. John nodded in return and looked to the horizon to see if the fireworks had started yet. The sky was still dark.

"I really like this guy that I know but I'm too scared to tell him and I don't think he likes me back." Alexander said suddenly. .

"You should just tell him. You'll never know what could happen until you just take a leap of faith..." John replied, feeling his heart become heavy at the idea of Alex really liking someone.

"I'm scared I'll ruin the friendship we have if he doesn't like me back..." The idea of loosing John as a friend scared Alex and spurred him to hide his feeling away even more.

"If he's your true friend, he won't turn his back on you." John said honestly.

Alexander nodded and looked up at John, taking a deep breath. "W-What if you're that guy?" He confessed.

John was shocked. Alex liked him too?

"W-What?" John asked, not understanding. Alex's shoulders drooped, thinking John was angry or upset.

"I-I like you John...." He said softly, looking down at the blanket. "I understand if you hate me now or something..."

"I could never hate you Alex..." John said quietly. "I like you too.... I really like you."

"Really?" Alex asked, hope blossoming in his chest.

"Yeah..." John replied and Alex smiled widely.

They both began to lean in and let their lips press together softly  just as the first fireworks exploded in the dark night sky. They continued to kiss as the fireworks display went up around them, signaling the start of a very happy relationship.

So I know none of y'all requested a Lams one shot but I came up with this idea while I was watching a firework show and decided to write it 😋 And I know I still have a ton of one shots to write for you guys and I am so sorry I haven't gotten to them but it's hard for me and I have to write when I have an idea/inspiration for that particular prompt or it'll be garbage. I will try harder though, I promise ❤️
Hope you have a good day!
