Y/N held her knees to her chest and laid her chin on her knees. Her e/c hues shimmering as she waited in the palace for her father to show up again. "When can I go and explore the world?" She whispered to no one in particular. "Why not come with me princess and we can go and explore while your father is out." The familiar voice of Shinpachi caught her attention.

She turned and came face to face with the male. A huge grin on his face. "Let's go!" He said smiling at her. "Shinpachi, your are going to give me a heart attack one of these days." Y/n said placing a hand on her chest. Shinoachi laughed before climbing in the window and sitting next to her on the floor. "Why don't you stay here and keep me company till my father comes back home?" She asked him.

He smiled and leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers, while wrapping his arms around her waist. "You will always have me by your side to protect you. I won't leave you. Not even for a second." He said moving closer to her. She smiled and scooted closer to him. "Thanks Shinpachi-Kun. You really are the best." She said and laid her head on his shoulder and fell asleep.

He smiled and wrapped his arm protectively around her, and laid his head on top of her head. "I love you my princess." He whispered. His eyes began to grow heavy by the minute. He laid down with Y/N lying on his arm with her hand on his chest. His eyes closed as he fell asleep. Not long after he had fallen asleep, was he yanked away from her side and thrown to the ground. She instantly opened her eyes to see her best friend struggling with enemy.

Something was pressed against her mouth, causing her to struggle but a sickly sweet smell filled her senses causing her to pass out. Shinpachi looked up just to see his best friend and crush, being dragged away. Growling, he managed to get the enemies off him and race over to his friend. "LET HER GO!" He screamed, scaring the men and causing them to run away. As they ran, they dropped her from their grasp. Shinpachi dove forward and caught her before she could hit the ground.

The guards and her father raced into the room to see that she was laying motionless in Shinpachi's arms as he tried to wake her up and protect her from the men that continued to attack them. "I command that you villains leave at once.  The king is here and will cause that you all die." One of the guards yelled.

Shinpachi felt tears slowly falling from his eyes as he watched for any reaction from her. Her eyelashes fluttered when a tear fell on her face. She opened her eyes to see her father and the best friend crying. She reached a hand up to Shinpachi's cheek. A small smile appeared on her face.

"Are you ok?" She whispered. Shinpachi's eyes flew open at the sound of her voice. He pulled her into a hug and sobbed onto her shoulder. "I'm so glad that your ok! I'm sorry that I couldn't keep you safe." He whimpered.

She smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck. "You did just enough. You didn't allow me to be taken. You did keep me safe. It's just what you needed to do. After all, you are my personal guard, and my best friend." She said hugging him closer to her.

He smiled, but it turned into a frown. "What's the matter" she whispered. "I was hoping that we could be more then just friends." He whispered. She pressed a hand to her ear and smiled. "What was that?" She asked. "I was hoping that we could be more then just friends!" He yelled out.

Her father grinned and clapped his hands. "Does that mean you want to be my daughters boyfriend?" He asked. Shinpachi blushed a crimson red as he nodded his head. "Yes. That's what I want. Is that ok sir?" He asked bowing in front of the king. The king smiled and nodded his head. "You have my blessing young Shinsengumi warrior." He said smiling.

Shinpachi smiles and held his hand out to Y/N, who happily placed her hand in his. She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. "Can't believe that my best friend, is now my boyfriend. This makes me so happy." She whispered. "My king, would it be to much to bring her to my friends?" Shinpachi asked.

The king thought for a brief moment before a grin appeared on his face. "I didn't think that sounds at all that bad. What do  you think my princess? Do you want to go?" He asked. Y/N smiled and nodded her head.

Shinpachi grinned and wrapped his arms around her waist and placed his chin on her shoulder. "My friends will be really surprised that I have a girlfriend now." He said. Y/N raised and eyebrow. "Really? You such a good looking guy, I'm surprised that there are not a line of girls around you." She said.

He shook his head. "No. Sanosuke is the one that actually picks up more girls then I can. I'm just lucky that I managed to get you as my girlfriend." He said. She shook her head and laughed. "Geez. I'm surprised. Your a sweet guy." She said. He smiled and pressed his lips to her cheek. "I love you." He said. She smiled. "I love you too, Shinpachi." She replies.
