31. Runaway bride

Inside one of the rooms, a boy was panicking. He paced around from side to side of the room while his family and friends looked at him and tried to calm him down. All in vain. Already two hours had passed and he was still upset.

"What if this is a mistake?" He asked his mom with teary eyes and a cute pout.

"What happened, baby? Just this morning you were excited about the wedding." his mom asked worried about his son's meltdown. He stretched out his arms, signalling his son to come to hug him to the bed where he was sitting.

"I have doubts, mommy."He said before hurrying to the comfort of his mom's arms.

"I think you are just nervous, baby." The adult placed a sweet kiss on his forehead.

"For fuck's sake." the dad groaned as he massaged his temples. "Chenle, baby, this is not a real wedding..."

"Yes it is!" The little boy yelled.

"Then... Do you want me to go tell Jisung that the wedding is off?" He said with a smile he couldn't hide, making Sicheng shake his head amused at his husband's obvious dislike for little Jisung.

Chenle looked up from his mom's chest with a trembling lip. "No!" he screamed before dramatically grabbing the custom gown he was wearing and running away from the room.

"Chenle!" Sicheng yelled. He tried to get up, but Yuta didn't let him. He knew Sicheng wanted to go after him, but the advanced pregnancy had been taking a toll on his body and he needed to rest. And he knew his son. Chenle needed to act like the drama queen he was for a few minutes and then he would come back to their arms.

"I'll go, don't worry. Just stay here with Yuta, Sicheng. I'll bring him back." Donghyuck said, before leaving the room and running after the little boy. He had a feeling he would know how to calm Chenle down. After all, he was in the same situation as him: About to get married.

He only had three days before getting married, and even though he was really happy and excited, his nervousness and anxiety kept growing as the day got closer. So taking advantage of the fact that all the group was together, he had convinced Sicheng and Yuta to let them celebrate Chenle and Jisung's "wedding". Because he really needed a distraction.

As soon as Donghyuck got out of the room, he saw a running Chenle by the end of the hallway. "Chenle! Baby! Wait!" he shouted before running after him. That boy was surprisingly fast. Chenle was a kid and wearing a dress and was still faster than him.

A few minutes later, and after Donghyuck almost ran out of breath, Chenle finally stopped. He ended up entering the same library where some of NCT's sexual encounters had happened during that week. Fortunately, the room had been cleaned up and rearranged back to the original layout.

He found the little boy crouched down under one of the library tables. "Chenle, baby... Come out, please..." Donghyuck asked warmly.

"I don't want to..." the boy whined.

The older one smiled sadly at Chenle's tone, and after thinking for a bit, he decided to crawl under the table to sit down next to the boy.

"Hi..." he whispered softly. "Do you want to tell me what's wrong?"

Chenle kept quiet and looking down at the floor.

"I promise I won't tell anyone." Donghyuck lifted his hand to play with Chenle's hair.

"Do you pinky-promise?" he asked cutely.

"Yes." The older smiled and intertwined his pinky with Chenle's small one. "Pinky promise."

"Before coming here... Felix talked to me..." Chenle said softly.

"Who is Felix?"

"My ex-boyfriend," he said nonchalantly.

Donghyuck almost choked on his spit. Chenle had an ex-boyfriend?! What kind of kid was this?! He hadn't even had a boyfriend before meeting Mark, and this five-year-old had an ex-boyfriend and was about to get fake-married with another boy. "And what did he talk about?"

"He told me he missed me... And he also missed the cookies I always bake with mommy..."

Donghyuck kept quiet, trying to comprehend Chenle's difficult love life.

"How- How did you know Mark was the one for you?" he asked with big shiny eyes.

Woah. He wasn't expecting that question. This little boy was definitely too intense and dramatic... The question did take him by surprise, but it didn't bother him. He knew the answer.

"Hmmm... I don't think there was an exact moment when I realized Mark was the one. It was a mixture of different feelings I felt when I was with him...

...When I'm with Mark I'm happy. Time seems to stop and goes by fast at the same time. I don't need to be with him all the time to know that we are meant for each other. But most importantly he makes me feel safe. When I'm with Mark I know I'm safe to express my feelings and thoughts, to cry or laugh... I'm safe to be myself...

...I know this is way too much for you, you are just five years old and you probably won't understand what I'm talking about..."

"I think I understand, Haechanie."

Donghyuck smiled, Chenle was still the only one calling him by that name. And although it felt weird to hear it after so long, it brought back memories that made his heart feel warm.

"It's like when Jisungie gives me his Frozen bandaids when I fall and kisses the booboo better. And even if I cry he cheers me up and makes me feel happy again."

The older smiled widely at the example. "Do you feel like that when you are with Felix?"

Chenle shook his head cutely.

"And what about Jisungie... Do you like him?"

"Yes." he pouted. "I only want to bake cookies for him and watch Power Rangers together. I think- I think I just really like baking with mommy and Felix confused me."

"Then... Are you feeling better now?"

"Yes!" he said excitedly. "I only love Jisungie oppa!"

"Let's go, Haechanie! Let's go!" Chenle exclaimed enthusiastically as he quickly got out from under the table and pulled Donghyuck with him. "I have to get married!"

At the same time, in a reserved part of the garden surrounding the hotel, little Jisung was waiting patiently with Mark, Jeno and the rest of the NCT members that weren't with Chenle.

They had requested the hotel to prepare something for them, and as always the hotel had exceeded their expectations. They were standing under some kind of large white tent. It had everything the two little boys had asked for: an aisle, benches for the guests, an altar- all decorated with Chenle's favourite flowers and some Frozen merchandise Jisung had picked for the special occasion.

At first, the boys wanted to have a big wedding with a lot of people, like the one Mark and Donghyuck were planning to have. But Sicheng managed to convince them that it was better to have fewer people. So in the end they ended up inviting only NCT.  Not even Jisung's family was invited.

The mafia had learned that they weren't really involved in the little boy's life, and to be fair, lately, Jisung had been spending more time at the Nakamoto house than at his own.

Jisung came from a rich family, and his parents were very influential people. But he had grown up with only the love of the maids and nannies taking care of him. And even though the little boy still wanted to receive more love from his parents, in the few months he had spent meeting NCT he had felt more loved than in his entire life.

And the feeling was mutual. Everyone in the mafia had all fallen in love with the happy boy and he had been gladly invited to the wedding. All of them loved him. All except Yuta, who was sulky because "Chenle was his and no one else's."

"Are you nervous, Jisung?" Lucas asked the little boy as he helped him fix his hair.

"No," the boy shook his head with conviction. "I've waited all my life for this."

Lucas exchanged a shocked but amused look with Jeno and Mark. This little boy was definitely something else. He was five years old but had the soul of an old man.

"Well, then... Okay..." Lucas said as he continued touching up the last details of Jisung's clothing.

Jisung was wearing his favourite dinosaurs' T-shirt with a black blazer two sizes too big for him and matching black pants. And even though he looked a little bit funny, it was a cute sight.

Soon enough, the rest of the guests arrived. Meaning Chenle was ready and the ceremony was about to start. And as the sun was setting and everyone was in their place, Chenle started walking down the long aisle. He had insisted on walking down the aisle alone without his parents or anyone else. Because according to him, it was his special moment and not theirs.

Little Chenle was wearing a white princess-like dress and his favourite Power Ranger sneakers. He also had a flower crown decorating his hair and a little bit of makeup he had convinced his mom to let him wear.

Cute AF.

"Oh my God..." Jungwoo gasped when he saw the little boy. "He looks so cute..."

"Yeah, he does..." Yuta sighed with a proud smile. "He's been into dresses lately, but my baby can wear anything and look pretty. Oh, man... I'm getting emotional." He said as he discreetly wiped his teary eyes.

The rest of the ceremony went down smoothly. Taeyong acted as the priest and Ten as the person keeping the rings safe. And since it wasn't a real wedding and the protagonists were kids, Taeyong kept it simple and short, and in a matter of just a few minutes, it was already time for the kiss.

"And now... You may now kiss the groom!" Taeyong exclaimed excitedly.

"What the actual fuck!!" Yuta interrupted the ceremony. "No one is getting kissed tonight!"

"Papa!!" Chenle yelled as he stomped his feet. "Stop ruining my day!"

"But you- But you are still my little baby..." Yuta whimpered.

Sicheng smiled at his husband while hugging him sideways. "It's okay, baby. You know this is not real. Chenle will always be your little baby... Just let him have this moment."

Yuta sighed, resigned. Why did it feel like he was losing his son? It really felt like it was yesterday when he was holding him in his arms for the first time. Why did he have to grow up so quickly?

Chenle smiled and threw his hands in the air as he watched his dad hug his mom. That meant he had gotten away with it and his dad had agreed. He grabbed Jisung by the shoulders and puckered his lips.

"Muah!" Chenle placed a quick and sounding peck on Jisung's lips. "Now you are my husband, Jisungie oppa!"

"Yay!" Jisung cheered. "I promise I will be the best husband ever!" He said, making everyone laugh at the cuteness. Everyone but Yuta, of course.

"Wait a second?!? Oppa!?!" Yuta complained. "You are the same age... And if anything you should call him hyung, not oppa!"

"Jisungie told me to call him oppa." Chenle nodded with a smile.

"Oh my God... This boy is trying to kill me. I will die. Oh, man... I think I'm having a heart attack... My baby... Oh, man. Sicheng baby, call an ambulance. I think I'm dying." the dad said dramatically as he placed a hand over his heart and sat down.

The rest of the group laughed. Although one person, in particular, knew how Yuta was feeling. Johnny.

Johnny knew what it was to watch your little baby boy grow up and start a new family with someone. And although Yuta's kid was only five and Donghyuck's case was a little more real, the sad feeling both dads were experiencing was hard to ignore.

So as Yuta watched his son jump and giggle around, Johnny watched his own son act all mushy and affectionate with Mark.

The soon to be married couple was standing on the other side of the tent. Mark had his arms wrapped around Donghyuck as they watched the two kids play around. The older boy tightened his arms lovingly around Donghyuck and kissed his head. "I cannot wait for the moment it's your turn to walk down the aisle."

"I can't wait either..." the younger turned around in his arms and hugged him back. "I love you, Mark... I want the whole world to know that we belong to each other."

Mark smiled before closing the gap between them and kissing him passionately, not caring about their surroundings. "I love you with all my heart, Seo Donghyuck."
